Saw this Friday on 2D. Was fucking awesome. Tomorrow I'm gonna go see it on IMAX 3D.
Just saw it, loved the movie. Something about the acting just didn't settle with me though...
Movie was incredible in 3D, I cannot watch another mother without criticizing it to the fullest extent.
Amazing in 3D! There is no possible way I could have watched it in 2D. It just seemed more epic. this was a great movie! 9.5/10
Jesus that was the best movie I have seen in a long time. Too much crap in theaters these days. It was so good I am going to see it a second time (Never done that before)
I like the part where Grace dies.
Am I the only one rooting for the humans? No really, like if I give a shit about the Xenos' ideals, they have resources we need so it's either move your ass or be killed. Sadly it seems that most directors don't have the balls to have the "bad" guys win. No, I haven't seen the movie yet (nor have I read any spoilers), but I'm pretty damn sure that the humans are defeated.
The humans didn't need the unobtanium, it was just worth a lot of money. And the corporate leader dude was a fucking dumbass.
I thought I heard some CS:S sounds while [sp]he was pulling out the grenades on the battle helicopter (now, how awesome is that?)[/sp]. It's not a big surprise though, if a sound sounds good, stick to it.
Also when the [sp]colonel in the battlesuit or whatever stabs the alien tiger the native girl was riding, it makes a CS:S knifing/stabbing noise.[/sp] Anyways, I saw this movie today in 3D, and I don't see how you could enjoy this film without it being in 3D. You just feel so into the movie watching it in 3D. I don't think I could watch it in 2D and have the same 'wow, this is really one of the coolest movies ever' experience as I did in 3D. Seriously, watching the [sp]leaves and the ashes fall to the ground when the hometree is burning, and the final battle in general is just freakin' awesome. Seriously, the entire movie in general was amazing in 3D, but those parts stand out the most to me. [/sp] I wouldn't call it the best movie ever, but it's probably one of the best this year. The storyline isn't what makes this movie, sadly. It's still a good film, but I thought the whole 'natives becoming one with nature' was a little too hippy-ish.
Did anybody else notice the Jurassic Park dinosaur noises? I can't remember but either that Hammerhead rhino thing or the predator has the famous T-Rex roar. The horses use the velociraptor sound.
That was my major beef with the film, the Thanator sounded like a T-Rex and the horse things sounded like raptors.
Best movie I've ever seen, I saw it in 3D IMAX. If you hate it go fuck yourself. [editline]04:17AM[/editline]
The movie was filled with cliche. Everything was so fucking predictable and the montage of the soldier "learning the alien's ways" didn't make the movie any better.
Stop being such a damn critic.
I loved it although I can't help thinking it was a bit too much pocahontas/starwars.
AMAZING! Simply amazing! Saw it in boring 3D, now I need to go see it in the Imax.
AMAZING! Simply amazing! need to go see it in the Imax soon.
If you didn't see it in IMAX 3D you missed out on almost everything.
Just edited a second late :P I just saw it in 3D at a regular theater, but yes, it feel like I really missed out not seeing it on an Imax screen.
At first I rooted for the Marines, but after a while I came around. I still was mildly disturbed by Jake leaving his human body behind. It just didn't sit right with me.
I just saw it. I was pretty blown away.
Definitely a cliche story line but... Holy. Fucking. Shit. AMAZING CG. I saw it in IMAX 3D. That's the way to go... :smug:
I was correct. The movie was Neo-Indians vs the evil whiteman. [sp]It even had the cliche mass cavalry charge into machinegun fire[/sp] But the Special effects are what made the entire movie cool. 10/10 [editline]10:13PM[/editline] Also I saw it in Imax 3D :smug:
God damn James Cameron knows how to direct a movie
And holy shit the general looked like something out of WH40k at the end. I mean HOLY SHIT.
I'm gonna see it again. Just because everyone says it's better in 3D.
Damn I just realized how many references to Alien there where. [sp]One of them said they worked for the company[/sp]
Saw it twice. First time on a regular cinema screen in 2D, second time in 3D at Imax. 2D was a massive letdown for me. 3D was downright amazing, and by far a better experience than 2D. Let's face it, the movie was incredibly unoriginal. Even the creatures, I mean come on, a raptor with wings and a spiney-horse. Good work. Overall; The Movie itself; 6/10 The 3D experience and special effects; 9/10 Definately worth seeing in 3D, maybe a bit of a waste of three hours in 2D.
Wait a fucking second! [sp]How did human loose so much, if it was just a single corporation? Surely, the actual human army could have easily DEMOLISHED THE FUCK OUT THE PLANET? And wait, are there giant, space-ship sized monsters?[/sp] I want to see this movie, not for a story of 3Dness as much as actually seeing if the humans [sp]lost THAT bad.[/sp] I feel sad now. :(
There are no theaters within my area doing 3D screenings so I'm a bit bummed out. However, this movie I feel has broken new ground, and is bound for great success. With that, I think we'll see a lot more movie makers in the future, using these new, revolutionary techniques, and also improve on all of Cameron's faults and shortcomings (story and graphics-wise). Having that in mind, I may not ever see this great movie on the big screen and in 3D, but it makes me feel good to know that I'll eventually have the opportunity to watch even greater things as these sorts of techniques and ideas develop and grow.
holy shit. if you have not seen this movie, your life is a waste. the attention to detail was amazing. i noticed that on the mecha-things that every 4th bullet on the gun's belt had a red tip (meaning it was a tracer), counted every 4th shot and guess what? it was a tracer. i mean holy fuck what more can you ask for?
Wait a fucking second! [sp]How did human loose so much, if it was just a single corporation? Surely, the actual human army could have easily DEMOLISHED THE FUCK OUT THE PLANET? [/sp]
I don't know what you guys don't want to see so I'm blacking out everything: (Actually, this thread should be a discussion for those who've already seen it since the movie already came out. I'm sure all of those who are going come in here solely to say "Aww man I sooo wanna see this tomorrow/next week" can restrain themselves. [sp]Ah yea at the end I first thought, "ahh shit, the marines are gonna come back in a couple years to destroy the entire planet," and I think that's a hole Cameron intentionally leaves in for us to chew on. But when you think about it, the marines weren't fighting to protect the freedom of their people, they were contracted to fight for corporate interests. On top of that, I agree with you that it would be hard for them to reclaim their lost ground and for the shareholders to figure out what the fuck to do about their massive losses. After all, if it took Sam 6 years to get there, imagine how long it's gonna take them to regroup, recover and plan a whole new operation from scratch. After that, they'll have to face that entire network of living things again, and really, is that worth the trouble? Maybe that will lead to a sequel if there's ever gonna be any.[/sp]
It's the motives of the humans that turn one's siding around.
I just think he doesn't want his legs being off, again.
Use nukes/napalm. Fuck ground troops. that is why there is such thing as Heavy Bomber and Payload Delivery System. Plus, the environmental effects of a Nuke are pretty high, and considering how long it took to get there I doubt they can just send a nuke there. If anything it's a inter-planetary mining corporation who has a medium sized security team.
Those mech suits are fucking amazing. I was almost rooting for the humans to win, just because those things were badass. [editline]11:27PM[/editline]
At first I rooted for the Marines, but after a while I came around. I still was mildly disturbed by Jake leaving his human body behind. Although I'd still do it because then I could use my legs again, and I don't think he'll be going home any time soon, so it would be better to just be a Na'vi then deal with those breathing masks.
