You haven't seen very many movies then, have you? So I was correct in saying it is in fact Pocahontus?
Naw, more like a mix of The Last Samurai, Aliens, and Dances with Smurfs. Am I the only one that thought the [sp] Cavalry charge into machinegun fire was a lot like The Last Samurai[/sp] [editline]10:28AM[/editline]
I don't know about you guys but I spent a good 30 minutes looking for a glimpse of alien boobs. I saw some nipples here and there.
I didn't look for them, but I saw nipple none the less.
I still think Jake leaving his human body behind forever was weird and unsettling
May I ask why you don't want to see it?
He's a non-conformist! He's stickin' it to the man!
I still think Jake leaving his human body behind forever was weird and unsettling
What would you have done, if you had the chance for a new, improved body? Oh, and the fact his girlfriend was an alien too.
BEST MOVIE THIS YEAR. every movie i see from now on will be compared to this which means i never see a good movie again [editline]04:20PM[/editline]
I tried the Zune thing on 360 on friday. Saw an exclusive Avatar clip. Watched it. Decided I don't want to see Avatar or anything made by James Cameron.
you best be trolin
I can't stop saying how awesome this movie is
I want to say that this is the best movie I have ever seen in theaters, ever. It was that good. You HAVE to see it! GO SEE IT NOW!

Isn't pandora a moon? If you look at the sky during the night scenes, you'd notice a large gas planet resembling Jupiter and a few moons orbiting it.
Isn't pandora a moon? If you look at the sky during the night scenes, you'd notice a large gas planet resembling Jupiter and a few moons orbiting it.
Yeah, the first trailer I think showed a massive gas giant in the background of the moon. It makes sense, actually, since it is theorized that there are "Super Jupiters" out there that could possibly have moons the size of Earth and, possibly, have developed life.

Plus I didn't like how every Marine was stereotyped into the "urr yeah get sum hurr ooah lets do this" grunt
Do they ever explain what Unobtainium does that makes it so valuable?
Do they ever explain what Unobtainium does that makes it so valuable?
It was a Maguffin, like the suitcase in Pulp Fiction
Last time I checked, Indians and rainforests were real, Avatar was not.
Does it matter? You obviously condone moving other groups of people away from their homes and destroying land for your own greed.
Does it matter? You obviously condone moving other groups of people away from their homes and destroying land for your own greed.
Will the Universe really notice they are gone?
[sp] They don't have militarized spaceships, only transport ones. Even then, the Humans almost won, they killed most of the Na'vi.[/sp]
No they didn't. [sp]Jake was only able to gather a small amount of the clans. The general said they estimated 20,000 of them in a week's time. There were only 2,000 in the battle.[/sp]
Will the Universe really notice they are gone?
:fuckoff: this is the Avatar thread not ME2 :argh:
Will the Universe really notice they are gone?
It's not about what "the Universe" thinks; it's about your own morals. Do you agree with Hitler shoving the Jews in the ghettos, and then the death camps? I'm not talking about Avatar here, I'm talking about the capacity to care for other groups of people.

The problem is we have no idea what Unobtainium really did, its function would certainly effect my decision as well. [editline]03:06PM[/editline]
You should see his posts in the Mass Effect 2 thread.
That's when I put on my Space Marine helmet and post opposite to how I think.
Was I the only one who really liked the trees and plants? That made the film for me.

saw this movie friday night, it was absolutely incredible.
That comic a page back wasn't true for me... Colours seemed more... coloury? Maybe there was LSD in my $5 Reese's Pieces.
It shouldn't matter.
It certainly does under certain circumstances, what if Unobtainium is the only way to perform FTL travel and that, by removing our ability to mine the vast deposits of it on Pandora, we are unable to expand and grow as a species amongst the stars? Fuzzy feelings don't mean much if your civilization is unable to sustain its own growth, leading to eventual stagnation and decay. If the substance is capable of changing history for the better, what's a pile of bodies of a species that is extremely unlike your own (physiologically) going to matter? If the Marines won in Avatar, there wouldn't be some cosmic hand that would slap them off the face of the Universe since they did a "naughty thing", there would just be a massive surge in Humanity's ability to sustain itself.

Oh wait, you don't know either, so why are we arguing with these supposed "facts" that the metal was crucial to humanity sustaining itself? I think the whole point of humans being there was for imperialistic purposes and not survival or sustainability purposes. It's a reflection of all the imperialistic conquests to conquer new lands.

Hey, I don't really hate space smurfs. I just don't like that they beat a freaking futuristic army with spears, swords, and Nazguls. :v: But yeah, what does this Unobtanium do, anyway?
