Hey, I don't really hate space smurfs. I just don't like that they beat a freaking futuristic army with spears, swords, and Nazguls. :v: But yeah, what does this Unobtanium do, anyway?
I read somewhere it has something to do with power production on earth, like oil and gas now.
Watched this movie today, was pretty good although it was rather easy to predict what was going to happen after a little while. Also, I didn't quite like the ending. [sp]I have little faith that some corporation would just abandon mining operations if the stuff they were digging for was that valuable, even considering the casualties. (They didn't really explain why the stuff was valuable in the first place, but I guess that was unnecessary for the story.)[/sp] Oh, and some of the action scenes were a bit over the top, but who's complaining. The animations and scenery were very well made so I enjoyed watching it. I'd recommend it, 'twas a good movie.
Going to see it tonight Shall be epic Was going to a theatre without online ticket purchase, they were sold out Seeing it tomorrow then
you will not be disappointed.
you will not be disappointed.
Hmmmmmm.

Didn't James Cameron ever think of changing the story to something completely original within the 15 years of waiting it took to create this film? Every plot twist and event occurring within the film is just a recycled copy of other sci-fi films merged into one giving an overall mediocre story and plot. Whatever they did in the film has been done over a hundred times before. On the side of special effects and scenery, they were very good. But it was starting to get overdone and ridiculous when the ground would light up when stepped on, or perhaps the larges bullshit factor in this would be the floating mountains. Personally I cannot emotionally connect to any of the characters simply because they are just only 3D animations. Other than that and a few other things I say this film is still kinda OK to watch. It's pretty long though.
Way too long, had a false ending about 2 hours in when a few people actually left the cinema.
Way too long, had a false ending about 2 hours in when a few people actually left the cinema.
I wouldn't lie when I say this. I was very tempted to leave half way through the film, but that would mean I would abandon my friend.
I love how people take the unobtanium line seriously the guy says it's unobtanium because the rich deposits of it are under somewhere they can't get.
He thought up the idea when he was high school or something. Hence the blue alien chick
I think he worked himself out after he made a film like Titanic. I wouldn't be surprised if so.
This made me think if there was a Warhammer 40k movie shot in the same level of detail as Avatar. Oh God an Exterminatus scene would be intense.

Did it also bother you that someone created a movie with a relatively simple plot so that it could be more easily digested by the mainstream audience? Perhaps you'd be happier if the plot was more complex and original like that of Pulp Fiction? I am sorry that your great expectations ruined your experience.
Way too long, had a false ending about 2 hours in when a few people actually left the cinema.
The little cuntrags that were talking through the movie left 2 hours in it was in the middle of a decent scene so i'm guessing their mommy had to pick them up early
The atmosphere and flora were fucking crazy as hell in 3D. It was really beautiful.
I wouldn't lie when I say this. (As a maker of films makes, I reel in disgust whenever I say that.) [editline]09:32PM[/editline]
The atmosphere and flora were fucking crazy as hell in 3D. I didn't know about the film until a few months before release. I only went because a friend of mine wanted to see it with me. It's just that the films story is dealt with in such an immature way it can feel insulting. And this is the film that people and critics are calling an "epic" piece of work when there is no real major difference from other scifi films.
Also as I reader of lots of sci-fi, I must say, if you thought the plot of this was anywhere near good, I have shelves of books at home that will make you cream your jeans.
Saw this in 3D, it was great.
Also as I reader of lots of sci-fi, I must say, if you thought the plot of this was anywhere near good, I have shelves of books at home that will make you cream your jeans.
This movie wasn't marketed for its plot. It was hyped up because of the innovative special effects and 3D. No one cares that you're a nitpicker
Also as I reader of lots of sci-fi, I must say, if you thought the plot of this was anywhere near good, I have shelves of books at home that will make you cream your jeans.
Foundation. Enough said.
This movie wasn't marketed for its plot. It was hyped up because of the innovative special effects and 3D. No one cares that you're a nitpicker
I'd hardly call pointing out that the whole plot was awful as "nitpicking".
I'd hardly call pointing out that the whole plot was awful as "nitpicking".
If all you took away from that film was that the plot was cliched and mediocre then you need to open your eyes

Not to mention it is probably incredibly expensive to do it.
its a bit of an in joke http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unobtainium
We get the joke It's just that it's the equivalent of naming the blue chick "L'ov Intrisst"
We get the joke It's just that it's the equivalent of naming the blue chick "L'ov Intrisst"
Keep in mind that the script was written by a high school boy
Keep in mind that the script was written by a high school boy
Someone here should buy that encyclopedia Cameron made just for his created universe and then all the questions can be answered.
I also didn't find the plot that incredibly bad. Overtime I actually grew attached to the Na'vi and felt really really bad for them. That's not really what happens in movies that are mostly CG.
If all you took away from that film was that the plot was cliched and mediocre then you need to open your eyes
Did you not read every single post I made about how visually it was mindblowing? [editline]09:47PM[/editline]
When? I don't remember any false endings.
It was about 2 hours in, there was a huge denouement and the screen faded to black before another hour of bad dialogue and mindblowing CGI.
