Yeah it is. It's drawn in the very same style.

Anime is animation in Japan. The rest of the world regards anime as "Japanese animation".
.
James Cameron is actually making movie now! Holy shit! First Star Trek returns, Sims 3 and now Avatar movie by James Cameron.
The Longest Day.
Probably the best World War 2 movie ever.
.

In English, dictionary sources define anime as "a Japanese style of motion-picture animation" or "a style of animation developed in Japan".
A Japanese style of animation, they adopted their style of animation for the show. Thus, it is an anime. Or, in other words, it's a shitty form of animation and should never be replicated.
Except everything in the first post of this thread. Which is more than enough to give you an idea of why there's so much hype for it.
I'm just not feeling it. Can't be hyped until I see an actual trailer, all of the fancy tech being used to film it does not impress someone who has no knowledge of cameras and tech of that sort. I've seen depth perception before in many films... whoop dee doo. Wake me when they release a trailer.
Hell yes, I found this a few months back (Kinda wish I didn't if you know what I mean) but I didn't know Neville Page was creating the creatures. I really hope that's not the concept art for the main characters though, it's just a human with a tail and different color patterns. If I wanted to see that I'd just go watch Star Trek again, have some creativity.
I'm really scared... Just today I was thinking of "the perfect movie" and I thought of one set in the future where humans leave to go to a different planet and over time adapt to the environment and the species physically change, and they have a different language. This seems very similar to what I was thinking. And I've never heard of this movie before. Well it sounds interesting.
Now you got me all exited about this movie
Myself and Postal have been blowing our loads over this since we found out about it, most definitely hyped.
Fixed.
The core of the moon is still very hot.
:words:
Sure whatever
As this movie sounds really awesome since it's being made by James Cameron, I hope they re-release a 2D version since I can't watch a movie with 3D due to problems with my eyesight. :( I have high hopes for this movie anyway.
Now I have this AND Mass Effect 2 to look forward to!
looks pretty cole
looks nothing like me movie looks good though
They're talkin' bout it at E3 Right now
I never saw the abyss, was it any good?
...... I honestly am speechless.
I've been waiting for this movie since 2005 The treatment is pretty awesome, it's like a mix of aliens+king kong+pocahontas, but it's very detailed, sort like if all those things could really exist. Cameron took the time to think all the details, the technology used, the ecosystem of Pandora, everything. I can't wait to see the final product.
I'll reserve tickets as soon as they become available.
I feel bad now. I saw 'em start talking about it on the E3 coverage and just skipped over it because I thought it was about the anime.
I hope the movie is good. When James was talking about it at E3 for like twenty minutes I was really bored.
Looks like a movie I'd watch only if the imdb reviews are good.
James Cameron talked for 20 god damn years about it at the Ubisoft conference.
Was anything at all shown during E3?!
No, James just talked about it.
James Cameron was today at Cinema Expo with the cast of Avatar and they showed 3 full scenes of the movie. People were blown away.
Avatar Scenes Shown at Cinema Expo! Michael here. Just an fyi for people that don't know, next friday 16 minutes of free footage from the film will be displayed at IMAX theaters world-wide. It's part of Avatar Day, and will also be the day the trailer is released online: www.avatarmovie.com i'm not entirely sure, but it looks like on monday the tickets will be available for the screening, which is apparently going to be at 6 and 6:30 on August 21st
