After coming back from the movie, I have got to say that the visuals were amazing.
Plotwise however, I wanted the humans to win, simply because that, based on the allusions back to Earth, that Humanity needed what was on Pandora. Something interesting about the movie was that it was shown through the eyes of an unreliable narrator (biased, in other words.)

I don't think a rare metal was needed, I think it was just so expensive because it had special properties such as super conductivity as well as a very high level of magnetism.
Also, the market for alien rocks would be very profitable.

That's my main qualm about these kinds of movies, if Humanity doesn't really need the resources, I'm fine with the marines being dominated by the locals, but if Humanity needs the resources, then I would be fine if they slaughtered the lot.

Meh, that's a bit too simple reasoning for my liking.

Hey, better than killing for the sake of domination.
Why couldn't people and Na'vi work together normally, anyway?
It's an eyegasm, but I cringe at parts of the dialogue.

They tried, but the Na'Vi were being stubborn bastards and refused to move.

Everyone around Ms. Princessgirl died (don't remember her name.) :v:

Ok. Boomstick and napalm time.
Now that I think about it more, some of the dialogue was pretty bland, the Colonel was a bit generic, but still I fucking loved the eyegasming
Majache please shut the fuck up and stop griping about a movie.
You've made all your points for the past 20 pages. Stop it.
I want to see this in 3D, but the nearest IMAX 3D theater near me is an hour away.
Obviously it looked great, but I felt a few scenes went on way too long. When they first start flying on those creatures it felt more like "Hey, check out these visuals as they fly for 20 minutes through the CG wonderment" rather than "Hey, this is important to the plot." Other than that it was fairly entertaining.

Worth it
Freaking awesome, except for the romance part of it all. The visuals were awesome, but the storyline should NOT have had a romance in it. It's about people getting killed and a revolution taking place. Not some freaking lame-ass romantic twist. I'm sick of goddamn 13 year olds wolf-whistling quietly to be cool to their friends, especially when the scene shouldn't have been there.
Good visuals though.
I saw this in 3D yesterday and it was pretty good.
One thing that bugged me was that the aliens have very wide noses, more or less for scent purposes and being able to properly track. However Grace's avatar has a human-like nose and that's why her character stands out alot more.
Just a small thing I noticed that kind of bothered me.
I certainly won't be seeing it again, so it was definitely NOT worth the wait.
The fact that people are debating this much over the movie shows that Cameron knows what he's doing.
Traditional storyline or not, he made it work. You can't deny that.
Oh god, imagine the rule 34 on this.

There's no need to imagine. It exists.

I know, I was on /b/ last night and they had a "If Neytiri was real, would you?" thread. Couple of good pictures on there.
I know I would, that's for fucking sure.

Yes I can.
Wait, is this out in normal 2d, 3d and IMAX 3d? If so, whats the difference between Imax 3d and non imax 3d?
I just saw a guy some pages back who said he saw it in 2d, and hed just seen it in 3d and were going to see it in imax 3d

I saw it in 2D, and while it maybe wasn't as good the visuals still pulled me in. The film was awesome, especially the ending. Here's hoping for a good sequel.
The movie was cliche, a little cheesy at parts, and fairly predictable in fashion...however...
It was delivered in a decent fashion, no, I'm not talking about "Just because it was awesome CG it was delivered" Just in the overall story, which seemed to flow alright.
The movie did concentrate a lot on the "WOW CHECK OUT WHAT WE CAN DO WITH CG!" But those scenes were well done. Especially in 3D.
I personally thought the story was cool. I've been needing another movie where humans go and start curb stomping in space and beyond. It was also interesting to see the humans be the "bad" guys in this and actually lose for once.
I also rather enjoyed the soundtrack to the film. I thought that was very well done.
Over all..it was Dances With Wolves in space.
I would say it's an above-average movie. It's not 'TOTALLY FREAKING AWESOME GO NOW!' but it's a good enough film to check out. Especially in 3D.
"I see you."
Fuck you Jim.

and Jim sees your $12 in his checking account.
Just back from seeing it, thought it was really great.
That is all.
Yes I can.
You can pride yourself on being a non-conformist all you want, but the general consensus is that Cameron did indeed make it work.
Saying you that didn't like the movie is understandable. Denying that the movie was well made is just ignorant. I'd like to know what movies YOU thought were "worth the wait."

I'm sorry, but what
how does that work? In any way?
