Alright, I've already stated all the possible faults this movie has. I'm sick of that bullshit. But when it comes to mothafuckin' movies, I've got a list so big it goes straight through the ground and into china. Sci-fi: The Thing Alien Blade Runner Star Wars... 5. Return of the Jedi sucked. 2001 Solaris(the Tarkovsky 2001) And recently, District 9 and Star Trek And that's just the big sci-fi stuff. If you wanted to include all movies then we could be here all day. Point is, Avatar is hardly one of the only movies to be released that were worth waiting for.

Why are people nitpicking on the plot or fine details in the movie? Yeah, the plot was fairly simple but that wasn't the point of the movie, the point of it was to be immersive. And it did a damn good job, he created an entire [i]world[/i] that was easy to get into and easy to relate to, yet it was vastly different. And while you're immersed the plot didn't detract from the experience at all, it was good enough to convey the experience without being too complicated to understand. The characters were also basic but they weren't two dimensional, there wasn't much detail but you got who they are without much time spent on them. I guess people don't like it because he managed to make a movie without a large amount of detail going towards the plot and characters, yet still pulled both of those off well.

But if you're going to reuse the basic structure and theme of a plot, you should use one from a great story (or in this case multiple movies), and not fuck everything up. I think the people behind the movie accomplished both.

It's so the same movie that the aliens are turned into the the Indians. So let's not even try to make it past that- it is dances with wolves. Dances with wolves with lots of CG. I saw the movie on Friday with some friends after our last day of Driver Education (yay insurance discount!). It was amazing. The 3D one was sold out, though. Over winter break I'm probably going to go see it in an IMAX with the rest of my family.

It doesn't mean I've never heard of Ender's Game or Starship Troopers or other genre classics.
