I shed tears when [sp]the tree was getting shot and destroyed[/sp].
That movie was beautiful (I actually mean beautiful.) That 3D was brilliant and it wasn't some shitty gimmick. Every time I saw one of those big outdoor views it sent chills down my spine. I was on the edge of my seat almost the entire time.
Why the FUCK did I click the spoiler.
: Disclaimer; This probably made more people click it.
What the fuck are you all complaining about? The 3D gave me trouble for about 10 minutes at the start where their seemed to be two backgrounds on the close shots. After that it was fine and the whole movie looked absolutely amazing. The purpose of the 3D wasn't to have shit come out of the screen, it was to create a sense of depth perception (which I think worked amazingly).
Also, I had my glasses on under the 3D glasses and they were fine. Not a single problem at all. Stop fucking bitching.

The movie was brilliant. I couldn't count how many times I had shivers sent down my spine.
Maybe the fact that I was in the row second to the front meant that I had a better view of the screen? I think the detail was amazing.
To people complaining about the fact that the Na'vi are just tall blue people with flat noses and tails, how about this:
[sp]The entire point of the story was to get you on the Na'vi's side. You were meant to feel sorry for them. You were meant to feel what they felt and you were meant to feel a guilty pleasure as you saw gigantic arrows soar into the chests of human beings. Do you think this would've worked if they'd used some incredibly non-humanoid alien that had facial expressions that we couldn't read (or completely lacked them). If that had been the case, the movie wouldn't have had nearly the effect on emotion (well I don't know about you guys but I felt like I could feel the emotions of the characters. When that tree was destroyed, I almost cried. When Na'vi's father died, I felt like Jake would need a bloody miracle to convince her that he was on her side. When he was walking through the ashes, I felt the sorrow and loneliness. When Jake delivered his speech to the Na'vi and all the clans rallied together, it felt like such an epic moment to me and left me in awe) and the movie just wouldn't have worked properly. [/sp]
[sp]On an unrelated note, when those big rhino things came bursting through the jungle, I just chuckled and thought, "Fuck yeah!"[/sp]
It was a bit gay.
Plants can talk to each other yeah...
Just caught it, it was amazing. Blown away by the design of it all, and the effects were great. The 3D wasn't a hinderance at all as well, I don't know why some are complaining. Great viewing experience overall!
Hey, that reminds me. Wasn't that one guy's Avatar standing next to him at the end?
You know, the guy who's Avatar gets shot.
We don't know if that guys avatar died though. Might just have passed out because of the wound and then picked up by some Na'vis.
Based on the Avatar Wiki (I needed to know what the fuck Unobtainium did) I found this.
Unobtainium has a unique magnetic field and properties of superconductivity, causing it to levitate. On Pandora, the magnetic effect causes huge outcroppings of Unobtainium to rip loose from the surface and float in the magnetic vortexes. These huge islands, named Hallelujah Mountains by Earth's explorers, are called Thundering Rocks by the Pandorans, who hold them sacred. The unique magnetic properties of Unobtainium are used to contain and direct the energy of the matter-antimatter annihilation which propels ships like ISV Venture Star. Without Unobtanium, interstellar commerce on this scale would not be possible. Unobtanium is not only the key to Earth’s energy needs in the 22nd century, but it is the enabler of interstellar travel and the establishment of a truly spacefaring civilization. Making a feed back loop, the more Unobtainium is mined, the more ships can be built, and more mining equipment can be sent to Pandora .
Based on this, I determined that Unobtainium is, in fact, crucial to Humanity.
Death of cinema etc etc...
The movie was awesome, THE END.

Then the Xenos should be moved (if they don't want to... well it was their choice right?). No really, I don't care how long they have lived there or it's their planet and not ours, if we need it for survival then I would definitely support whatever means necessary to obtain the Unobtanium (because it's key for our survival, and we don't want it just because of greediness).

[sp]After the battle, we see an Na'vi wearing cloths the guy's avatar wore earlier, (or at least, similar[IE the Na'vi is the guy]), so I'm almost positive his avatar lived. As far as the guy though, where the hell'd he go when jake was on the floor?[/sp]

Especially since the Wiki also confirms that, at the time of Avatar, that Earth is a crapsack world of epic proportions (massive deforestation and extinction of most land and sea based organisms.) This resource is basically Humanity's one shot at becoming a truly space-faring civilization (as the Wiki also says.)
This makes me renew my "Kill 'Em All" attitude towards the Na'Vi.
"They killed their Mother!"
Subtle, Jim, real subtle.
I think my opinion on my movie has been said a million times, cool cgi but dumb story, so I'll just say my movie theater experience.
As my friends and I were getting the 3d glasses I overheard the movie theater workers talking about how for one of the theater screens turned green for the last half hour a movie. I thought it was funny. but I guess it foreshadowed what would happen to our showing.
Anyways we get in the movie starts and the opening scene, main characters in the sleeping pod thing or whatever and there's a floating water droplet, a kid screams "What's that!?!?". I think everyone in the movie theater groaned, but thankfully the Dad got the kid to shut up. Until one of the scenes were he's going to his Avatar, in which the kid screams "Is HE dreaming?!?!". Close enough kid, close enough.
Other than the usual "Woman who fell asleep and starts kicking my chair" there was only one other problem. Out of nowhere half of the green goes a bit green. Then it just turns completely black. Silence, and then the booing commences. But hey we got a 10 minute break so it was all good.
Movie should've ended with the main character saying, "And like all dreams, eventually you have to wake up" or something to that effect.
I mean, it ended perfectly on that part.
I don't know about that, because you would pretty much question whether or not the whole movie was just a dream. :P
I don't know about that, because you would pretty much question whether or not the whole movie was just a dream. :P
The dream was that Jake was a true member of the Na'Vi, every other scene pretty much confirmed everything else was real.
Oh I get it now...
God I'm stupid :(

Didn't he pick up a gun and then run off? Can't really remember.

Yes, which doesn't make a ton of sense (Where did he go in the middle of a battlezone?)

To kill some baddies?
I thought this movie('s CGI) was awesome, which is saying something because I normally hate movies using this trope [sp]http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HumansAreBastards[/sp]
One thing jarred a little bit though - [sp]the first time the Na'vi shoot arrows at the gunships, they just bounce off as you'd expect. After a bit of a pep talk, their arrows somehow gain the ability to go right through the windows, through the pilots' armour, and through the pilots.[/sp]

Me and my friend just assumed he was trying to go save his wounded avatar or something. Other than that I don't really know either
And yeah I couldn't help but laugh at the part where that pilot got impaled with an arrow. It was kind of like that "you just got pwned" funny

At first they shot them at a angle. When they're on the bird things they're firing straight at the glass.

Yeah, well, I still wouldn't have thought they'd go through like that.
You'd think humanity would have invented some kind of stronger material for windows that far into the future.
Just watched avatar at the movies yesterday, it was terrible. Forced swears, generic soundtrack, predictable plot, unmemorable characters, and the aliens were way too human-like. Sexy animation tho and a funny dick joke. 3/10

Our kind isn't wanted around here.

You'd think humanity would have mastered all kinds of fusion and fission allowing them to create any material they want from any other instead of flying for 5 years to another planet to mine it there.
ITT Jcallen and Majache circlejerk over how correct they are.
The movie wasn't meant to be analyzed, it was meant to be seen.
