"Durr them pictures am pretty James Cameron are a genious :downs:, best film i have sawn since 2012."
Oh for christ's fucking sake stop arguing :saddowns:
I'm not arguing, it's a load of morons who can't handle criticism whining because they thought the film was the second coming of Star Wars or some shit. Which is fine, everyone's entitled to their opinion, just don't moan when someone disagrees.
Yeah, I saw it and I was disappointed, go back to your Michael Bay movies you gibbering moron.
Jesus christ I gave the movie a 5/10. The only redeeming quality was the CGI. But you don't see me yelling "BAWW DIS MOVI SUC"
Problems with this film: 1. The 3D didn't work. Some objects were so out of focus there were two of them. 2. The baddies won. 3. FURRY SEX WHAT THE FUCK 4. I'm not buying that retarded noble savage shit.
Just watched avatar at the movies yesterday, it was terrible. Forced swears, generic soundtrack, predictable plot, unmemorable characters, and the aliens were way too human-like. Sexy animation tho and a funny dick joke. 3/10
Nothing pleases you people. Generic Soundtrack- Would you like some heavy metal to a epic battle, or a orchestra that (if anyone noticed) goes along with the tide of the battle? Predictable Plot- Oh, well if you want, we can let the main character die in the middle of the movie and the Na'vi massacred. You do realize that the foundation of any narrative/conflict peice of media is for the "good guys" to win at some point in time after a setback, right? Unmemorable Characters- You have a fucking terrible memory. The journey for Jake made him and Neytiri un-fucking-forgetable, and not to mention that Grace and Trudy were total hardasses. The only forgetable character's were General Badass and Corporate Fuck. Human Aliens- Your brain is engineered to care only about humans (and to an extent, humanoids). So if they were slugs or bats, you wouldn't give a shit about any of them. James Cameron even said himself that them being humanoid was not his original intention. "sexy animation tho and a funny dick joke"- Oh, I see. I have wasted my time.

I loved the world the animators (and not the mad ramblings of Jim C)created in the film, I would have loved to just look at the wildlife and plants for the whole film.

To be honest, I'm pissed off with how humanity is portrayed in every single space movie ever. I want a movie where humanity has mastered space travel and aren't a bunch of xenophobes. Is that so much to ask?

I'm seeing this in a hour, awww yeah. IMAX 3D
Is it a terrible thing if I sympathised with the humans at some points in the movie
Is it a terrible thing if I sympathised with the humans at some points in the movie
No. [editline]09:08PM[/editline]
I'm seeing this in a hour, awww yeah. IMAX 3D
Prepare for visual orgasm. (Vorgasm?)
Yeah, well, I still wouldn't have thought they'd go through like that. You'd think humanity would have invented some kind of stronger material for windows that far into the future.
Just chalk it up as another glaring plot hole/inconsistency. The movie is riddled with them. It's probably the worst-thought-out SciFi film I've seen in the last 5 years.
I loved the world James Cameron created in the film, I would have loved to just look at the wildlife and plants for the whole film.
I think you mean "I loved the world that the character designers, animators, and modelers created based on James Cameron's vague ramblings." James Cameron is not the dude who deserves credit for coming up with that shit.
I liked it. :downs:
:goonsay: Did you see Terminator Salvation? No?
No, I did not. I try very hard not to waste money seeing movies that I know are going to be shitty.
No.
To be honest, this is my favourite trope in fantasy.
No, I did not. I try very hard not to waste money seeing movies that I know are going to be shitty.
You are a wise man. A similar CGI borefest. Also yeah, I guess the animators and not Mad Jim deserve the credit.
Not only did I point out that the Colonel is Chip Hazard to yall, I also think that sad battle music was taken from Enemy at the gates. go to about 1:40, that trumpet creep noise is very identical.
You'd think humanity would have mastered all kinds of fusion and fission allowing them to create any material they want from any other instead of flying for 5 years to another planet to mine it there.
We mastered Matter-Antimatter reactions, but we need Unobtainium to utilize it. [editline]05:16PM[/editline]
Is it a terrible thing if I sympathised with the humans at some points in the movie
I sympathised with them throughout the whole movie.
I sympathised with them throughout the whole movie.
Now I feel better. All I could think of after I finished watching Iron Man was "I want those fucking computers. And those holograms." All I could think of after watching Avatar was "I want those fucking computers. And those holograms. And those phat gunships." I need more holograms in my life. And awesome bleepy sound effects.

The holograms and screens looked cool in 3D (I can't believe I'm fucking saying this.)
Thats because they where meant to be out of focus.
Fuck that shit I can see better in real life with my glasses off.
I thought this movie('s CGI) was awesome, which is saying something because I normally hate movies using this trope [sp]http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HumansAreBastards[/sp] One thing jarred a little bit though - [sp]the first time the Na'vi shoot arrows at the gunships, they just bounce off as you'd expect. After a bit of a pep talk, their arrows somehow gain the ability to go right through the windows, through the pilots' armour, and through the pilots.[/sp] :wtc:
[sp]In the first instance of arrow-shooting, the arrows were being shot by Na'vi on the ground and at low angle. Because of this, they glanced off and didn't get through the glass. When they were flying through the air on the Banshees and firing, they had the added speed of the Banshees flight, the help of gravity for the arrows and the fact that they were higher up so they could fire them at a more direct angle.[/sp] At least, that's how I explained it to myself. [editline]09:59AM[/editline]
ITT Jcallen and Majache circlejerk over how correct they are. The movie wasn't meant to be analyzed, it was meant to be seen.
Exactly what I was trying to tell my friends yesterday after seeing it. They kept going on about how [sp]the bond couldn't possibly evolve (I was tempted to bring up the fig/fig wasps)[/sp] and other crap. You're just meant to sit back, take in the amazing scenery and atmosphere and just enjoy it.

The CGI is nothing short of amazing.
Is it a terrible thing if I sympathised with the humans at some points in the movie
I think you missed the point of the movie. :3:
