I swear I just read paragraphs of complaints about the bio-luminescence and culture of the planet.

He's gotcha there.
I hated Wikus. He was kind of a dick/selfish.
True, but he turns around in the end, though it'd be weird if that was actually because he was becoming less and less human, though the behaviour of the other Prawns contradicts that too.
He's not arguing about the science of the film, he's arguing about the plot.
NO ONE, including myself, is implying the CGI was anything short of mindblowing.
The worlds and atmosphere of the film were great.
The plot was just generic.
Also goddamn, Cameron, hire a better editor. 3 hrs?
I wasn't bored for a single second during that movie. It sure as hell didn't feel like 3 hours to me.
He's gotcha there.
He hasn't got me :colbert:, I'll watch any old pseudo-sci-shit and not complain about the science.
Also why do people keep complaining when someone tries to analyze the film?
Since when was it cool to reward stupidity?

He's talking about Majache.
Also why do people keep complaining when someone tries to analyze the film?

Because his "analysis" usually results in him ranting about stuff he doesn't understand when alot of folks seemed to get it just fine.

why do people complain when we complain when someone tries to analyze the film? It goes both ways.
I for one, complain, because your over analyzing a film that shouldn't be that much analyzed. It's a Pocahontas film in science fiction, there's not much to think about. The whole fucking trailer should've told you it's all about action from the start.

For the same reason people tell you not to analyze humour. It tends to take all enjoyment out of a film if you analyze it too much.

Why not?
We don't all just take things at face value because they look nice.
Jesus Christ man.

Because it's not meant to be analyzed. It's like watching the greatest battle scene ever, then ruining all the fucking fun by pointing out every flaw you see. No Country for Old Men, Godfather, Shawshank, and etc. should be analyzed, because the average viewers would find it boring and etc. while it's actually a masterpiece.
You guys are like the lonely people in the movie theater who kills every joy to people watching it because they have noting better to do.
Because it's not meant to be analyzed.
:sigh:
:sigh:
i take this as your defeat
me - 1
jcallan - 0
When I asked you why it shouldn't be analyzed, your reply was "Because it shouldn't be analyzed."
I can't argue with that level of ignorance.
It just wasn't interesting, so fucking generic.
There was nothing new, everything you saw had been in a previous movie.
When I asked you why it shouldn't be analyzed, your reply was "Because it shouldn't be analyzed."

okay
would you analyze Freddy vs Jason? Would you analyze one of the mindless sequels of Friday the 13th? No, you wouldn't, because there's noting to analyze. It's all gore and noting else, there's noting to analyze but that. So there's no point. Avatar is about all action and CGI, hence why it shouldn't be over analyzed, because it ruins all the fucking fun.
It's one of those times when you leave the theater and into the lobby, then going "Holy shit, that was like, one of the best shit ever! I'm definitely happy and I hope not a single douchebag ruins it for me". Then some dude goes ahead and points out every fucking flaw, leaving to facepalm and wanting to punch that guy in the face.
get it?
Not really, you're acting pretty childish.
I certainly don't want to punch YOU in the face.
I mean, that's not how grown-ups argue.
And yes, I would analyze a shit film, why not?
thing is, why would you? What positive shit comes out of that?
The lols, lolwutdude, purely for the lols.
You should see the 50 page analysis on Twilight on Something Awful.
Pure lullers.

I haven't even seen avatar yet, but everyone says it's damned good.
Yeah it's pretty entertaining for the most part.
Going to see it a second time in IMAX 3D. Can't wait. so awesome.
Can you tell me some AMAZING parts, what made it so entertaining?
The night time forest scenes and the flora/fauna of the film look absolutely jaw dropping/
I got a kick out of watching the final battle, at least when you know the [sp]humans are screwed[/sp].
Can you tell me some AMAZING parts, what made it so entertaining?
The whole movie is amazing!
Now I remember my favourite action scene from it :
[sp]The bit where the rogue gunship goes mano-a-mano with the huge flying fortress around the floating mountain. That was fucking awesome.[/sp]
The whole fucking trailer should've told you it's all about action from the start.
Ha. What? James Cameron certainly wouldn't say that. James would say it's some deep shit with a heartfelt meaning about how evil humans are and how bad climate change and deforestation is.

Apart from the terrible one-liners maybe.
If anyone is watching it again (or for the first time), can someone keep an eye on the bio-lights on the Na'vi? Supposedly that is how they display a good portion of their emotions.
I thought the 3D was going to be better.
What's the difference between IMAX and the rest?
Cuz I don't know which own the local movie theatre used...
