Rated you late cos of the post above.
In the future we won't have ratings.
Why are we talking about the future?
Why are we talking about the future?
Because the effects in Avatar are amazing today but will seem elementary in the future.

The future is now.

This used to be all fields you know.

The future is orange.
The future is not written.
A quote from one of Cameron's better written films.
Is the game worth buying or is it just like any other "movie game".
Is the game worth buying or is it just like any other "movie game".
Looks pretty much just like a "run and gun" game. I wouldn't buy it anyways.

You get to play as a human fighting for Humanity (The Corporation specifically) in it, so I'll probably rent it or something.
I watched a couple of gameplay videos, they should have made it a huge open world sandbox game. That would have fitted much better.
It gave me that feeling.
I think I know what feeling you mean, the one where you just watched an awesome movie. Just watched it today and I reckon it is the best movie I have ever seen, number 2 being 'Rise of the Footsoldier' god that movie is awesome. For all of you who have not watched it, well... WATCH IT.
Edit: I just watched the trailer for the game, I am getting the game as well. Play.com(er's) rated it 5/5 which means it is most likely a decent game.
PS. Late is used as a thing to say 'Someone posted that before you' not 'You were late watching the movie' I am from the UK so I may not be as fortunate as you American's. You are top priority when it comes to new releases so sorry for having a few days stall jeez.
PSS. The roads were filled with snow, cars slide on the ice and the bridges in Scotland are dangerous in this sort of weather so I wanted to wait before I could drive to the city, I am rural.
I really don't like films with a lot of CGI in them, so I found myself largely uninterested in this film.
After about 5 seconds I forgot there was even any CGI in it.
Yes let's take everything anyone says at complete face-value, because that always works in an argument. Seriously, I didn't think anyone could possible read "Tolkein makes a much more believable world than Cameron" as "Avatar needs moar Gandalf".
When you start throwing in wizards 'n shit it becomes less and less believable. Now if you meant it had more believable CHARACTERS, then yeah, I can see where you're coming from. Walking talking tree men and a ring that turns you invisible as well as nuts kinda throws "believable" out the window.

His last post was 5 hours ago bro
I was off doing the family holiday thing, so what's your point?
I'm seeing it this weekend. I highly doubt it will top Zombieland as film of the year.

He's saying LOTR had depth, and the characters were human. Avatar had no depth, and the characters were uninteresting besides the good performances from the actors.
The story in LOTR was also well written, with twists and arcs for all of the many and well crafted people in it. That's what made it an epic, it felt like an adventure that could really happen in that universe, it felt almost like a recanting of old stories. Though that's somewhat more the book than the movie, the movie was good too.
Avatar felt like a play put on in a painting. Enjoyable, but there's nothing to connect to personally.
This seems to be a problem with a lot of recent film.
...In your opinion.
But it's so obvious. I mean there are no scenes that bring anything to any of them ever. All the scenes are about explosions, or showing how much of a dick people are, or showing us how in touch with nature the Na'vi are, or just plain reiterating stuff we already know and don't care about.

Lord of the Rings was also 3 movies long and didn't have to introduce much as the environment was basically Earth + elves, dragons, dwarves, etc. (basically a lot of pre-existing goofy fantastical stuff that Tolkien just added a slight twist to), and with the entire first part of the trilogy to flesh out the characters, well... Can you imagine if Avatar actually took time to introduce their characters with more depth and detail? We'd be waiting for "Avatar: Planetfall".

Plenty of movies have fantastical environments and create great characters in one movie. Like,
Blade Runner
Alien
Star Wars(the first movie, while part of a trilogy, was almost completely self contained plot and character wise)
And besides, Cameron wants to make Avatar a trilogy anyway.

He fucking what?
How do you go from the end of the film?

I dunno. Maybe, "revenge of the evil humans" or something.
