Plus it was General Badass who gave Jake one hour, not Corporate douche.
I thought Jake and Ridley (or whatever the fuck) asked Coporate Douche for one more avatar "jump" while the General flew towards the tree, and he gave them an hour?
Yeah, you're right, my bad. :downs: But either way you could see a clear sign of regret when the tree came crashing down.
Saw it today. Folks, this is how you do REAL movies. 2012 was just a bunch of pretty CGI with a shitty as fuck plot. Movies like this, with visuals twice as beautiful as 2012 (in my opinion), and a real, moving story with actual effort put into it, make movies like 2012 and every other gimmicky flick look like a half-assed attempt to earn money. Also, the battle scene between the Marines and the Na'Vi was absolutely breathtaking.
Yeah, you're right, my bad. :downs: But either way you could see a clear sign of regret when the tree came crashing down.
You can murder someone and feel bad about it after, but it doesn't change the truth you are a murderer.
You can murder someone and feel bad about it after, but it doesn't change the truth you are a murderer.
Really I wonder if it's to show how he's having second thoughts now that General Badass is basically calling the shots, considering he appears to have a vendetta against Pandora.
Did anyone else think that pilot chick was fucking hot? AND ANOTHER THING!, What ever happened to Nuking the planet from orbit?, oh sure dumping napalm on their home and then crushing them with it and then attempting to daisy-cutter their holy tree sounds much more humane than vaporizing them in an instant. really Pandora has absolutely nothing to offer us other than the ore, i mean the atmosphere is toxic for fucks sake. just turn the planet into a barren rock and then proceed to mine it to oblivion and call it a day. this stupidity has probably bin touched upon in earlier pages.
That was already addressed, in the contract, the PMC was not allowed to use WMD's. Learn2read thread.
Did anyone else notice that they forgot a Na'vi in 1 scene and so other Na'vi put his hands on not existing shoulders? No I was the only one :P
But he was a nice guy. He clearly didn't want to attack the Navi, but he had to (Another reason why this film's ethics PISS ME OFF).
Yes he had to because of money. Man it doesn't grow on trees. Here's a making of clip showing the revolutionary performance capture technology used on Avatar:

When the blue dudes hiss, it makes me cringe. It's just... weird.
I still find it odd that an alien culture living light years away from Earth have a belief system nearly identical to Native Americans.
I still find it odd that an alien culture living light years away from Earth have a belief system nearly identical to Native Americans.
It's a movie.

In the scene where Jake gets a man, they put the hands on the shoulders, and when the cam zooms out there is in the left bottom of the screen this hole. And while it blends its visible for ~3seconds that he actually "thinks" there is someone in front of him.
The movie has currently grossed around $615 000 000 worldwide, that's pretty good I guess.
I just got back from seeing it. Best film I have ever seen. James Cameron doesn't fail me once again. Damn, Colonel whatshisface was a badass.
Just got back from seeing this with Karlos. Shit was absolutely fantastic. Went to see it in 3D, and oh man it was amazing. Best visuals I've ever seen, and the 3D was really well done. Never a dull moment, even though it was almost 3 hours long. And yeah, I know the story has been used before, but they really did it well. Likely the best film I've ever seen.
It was too short, I am hoping for a sequel without humans, so that they can completely concentrate on the planet and the story behind it.
It was too short, I am hoping for a sequel without humans, so that they can completely concentrate on the planet and the story behind it.
Fully agree, and you can be happy, I have a spoiler for the next vid, with actuall proven information here: http://twitter.com/SEKCobra/status/7095388957
I really can't understand how people can rate this as the best film they have ever seen. I can think of so many lower-budget, far less hyped, far less pretentious titles with much better scripts and characters that I would rank higher than Avatar - films like The Last Samuari.

I think Cameron caught onto that sometime after Titanic.
People will gladly hand over money to see fireworks rather than books. I would like to say Cameron realised that it is the special effects and action scenes that make him money and so he made Avatar, but he clearly didn't realise this as shown by his terrible script that he actually thinks is really deep and involving.
Holy fuck... Avatar made an estimate of $75 million this weekend. It just had a -2.6% drop from the first one ($77 m), it's something never heard of before. This movie could outdone Titanic at the BO if it continues like that. http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=avatar.htm
It's at 47 right now already, so I wouldn't be surprised. I'm quite surprised how many 2009 movies are in the top 50 highest grossing of all time. Well, at least number 2 and number 4 really deserve to be there.
$75 million
I think I know what I want to do when I grow up.
