Yes, that guy shot at Jake.

When Jake destroyed the Cams of the Dozer, that guy noticed it first and opened fire.
Yeah, why?
It has .gif potential.
Come to think of it, this movie had a lot of .gif potential scenes.
Oh, ok, thanks. I just couldn't seem to remember, so I thought it might be something they'd add to an extended cut or something.
I'm pretty sure this was not in the movie though:

There is a scene where Quaritch quarrels with this guy from RDA, there are scenes on Earth and there are scenes where the RDA base gets attacked.
(As you can see in various behind the scenes videos)
Sadly they all wasnt in the movie.
Why cant avatar be 10 hours and cost like 50 €, I would pay them D:

Ye, the base attack was mentioned in the original script aswell. Plus, at the end of the movie, you can see Avatars holding machineguns.
People can't say that Cameron lacks the ability to make a good movie (plot wise) after reading the script for the original Avatar, there has to have been a reason he dumbed it down.
They didn't "dumb it down", they just made it less of an embarrassing cliche (and less of a lame Environmentalism film).
Humanity as a virus? - They talk about that in The Matrix, and about ten thousand SciFi short stories.
Earth as a pouted wasteland? - Wal-E, plus about ten thousand more SciFi movies and stories.
The story for Avatar might have been revolutionary if it had been written in the 1960s or 1970s, but coming in 2009 it's basically just a patchwork of other people's ideas and stuff that has already been done with a pretty CGI covering thrown on top.
The rocks are floating because of that stuff the humans want.
Fair enough, but why weren't the floating rocks slowly rotating, like the sample of it that the CEO-type human had on his desk? And why would it make mountains float, but not plants, critters, or anything else?
And where the fuck did the water on the floating mountains come from? If water is constantly pouring out of the floating islands then it has to be coming from somewhere. But the floating mountains aren't big enough to have natural springs, glaciers, or any other possible source for that volume of water.

The reason the rocks were floating was because the substance itself was inside the rocks.
Also, why did Jaeksooley have a fucking shitty manual wheelchair?
I understand maybe not having a fancy floating one like Professor X or whatever, but are we really supposed to believe that 150 years in the future, when they have the technology to send thousands of people on 6-year space voyages, cripples are still going to have the same fucking wheelchairs they have now?
The reason the rocks were floating was because the substance itself was inside the rocks.
Then the rocks should have been rotating.
Plus, every time the humans shot a missile at anything, rocks would have been floating up out of the impact craters.

Because a manual one keeps your muscles in your hands trained, is better controllable and faster as an electric one.
Avatar just made $19M on its second Monday
http://twitter.com/ERCboxoffice
In its first Monday it made $16M
This movie is gonna dethrone Titanic
Saw this film yesterday and was amazed by it. I got drawn into the plotline like no other film before. Makes me wish we could all live in a world like that.
Watched the movie a second time. Finally worked out what happened to norm after his avatar was killed.
Watched the movie a second time. Finally worked out what happened to norm after his avatar was killed.
Please share. After Norm (I assume this is the geeky guy? It must be because he has a cliched geeky name to match he terrible cliched character) gets shot as a blue dude I assumed he would be dead... but then he just gets out of the pod thing and runs off. After that happened, I didn't even know whether dying as an avatar meant you die in your real body too.
[sp]You see him in the end, when they are escorting the humans off Pandora. he's standing with a Na'vi in his human body with his exo-pack on. [/sp]
Thats the last time I saw him at least.

Yeah.
But I can understand why some people's first impression is like "What, they still only have manual wheelchairs?"
It seems like there should be a higher tech way, but really for a guy like Jake, manual is best. Remember, his goal is to walk again. The last thing he needs is a machine that does things for him, he needs to workout constantly or his body will atrophy.
Great film - I thoroughly enjoyed it, shame this thread is closing.

Then we'll just have to make a 2nd thread :D !
I saw this a second time yesterday in Imax, much better way to watch it.
If you can see it in Imax, do so. NOW.
Damn this movie is good.
Just came back from watching it. Damn it was awesome.
In my books, a film succeeds if you don't want to leave the world the movie created. And when it ended I sure didn't want to.
Great movie. The sequel should be better.
Did they ever say why the unobtainium was so important? they just said it was ridiculously expensive
Did they ever say why the unobtainium was so important? they just said it was ridiculously expensive
It's like the briefcase in Pulp Fiction, it doesn't matter. It's just a thing to activate the characters and plot.
Did they ever say why the unobtainium was so important? they just said it was ridiculously expensive
Its a room temperature super conducter. They didn't say in the movie but in the original script and wiki it says.
