I always remember good films for ages.
I saw Into the Wild in 2007, thought it was fucking amazing, and I still watch it every few months.
Same with a lot of Documentaries, like BBC Planet Earth and a lot of IMAX films, just because they're so fucking visually stunning.
(I watch them all on a 1080p projector btw :smug:)
Overrated, overhyped but still a good movie. VERY pretty but I didn't like the romance and lack of blood/gore to living shit up. District 9 tops it if you ask me.
This and "The shawshank redemption" are my two favorite films of all time.

Same, Except if they release this in sequential 3D format, I can watch it in 3D with my shutter glasses :smug:

If you're trying to compare district 9 and avatar, stop.
It's James Cameron we're talking about here, we've seen pretty much every director (Peter Jackson is the exception, apparently) resort to using CGI to show their story, rather then sheer plot. Cameron was the last "great" director to fall into this trap.
Peter Jackson apparently did it for Lovely Bones, from what I've read from the reviews.

comparing doesn't just cover similarities you know.

God dammit, how recent was it?

Alright, I've given my synopses on what I thought of his character, now it's your turn.
The waterfall doesn't magically spring out of nowhere on the edge of the cliff.
Look at your own image, you can see a stream coming from fairly far away.
It takes a fucking lot of plants to create enough excess condensation to create a waterfall.
We don't see very much of the mountain with the waterfall, now do we?
If you're trying to compare district 9 and avatar, stop.
I wasn't trying to, both films happen to be big sci fi films released this year, and out of watching both I feel District 9 was more entertaining. That make sense?
Avatar was quite predictable and I knew what was going to happen, but I let the nice effects and whatnot absorb me in and blanket those thoughts for the moment. When I watched District 9, I had no clue what to expect and I was amazed at how the film played out. I prefer to view films in a sense of how predictable the plot is and how it unfolds. I liked District 9 for how it wasn't so obvious if you understand that.

The movie has been out in limited release for awhile, but its not out nationwide until january I believe. it's got a rotten score on rotten tomatoes and the critics are basically just saying it's a mess and that its special effects over story.

... And thus the spread of CGI over story is complete.
:suicide:

Who the hell am I kidding, it was good.
The Na'vi are awesome.
Also their Language is

Everyone should see it, best in 3D.
Got kind of depressed after watching this, too.
Dunno why. :frown:

The Choper pilot is dead. And Grace. And the Na'vi clan leader. And the new one.
But Norm and Jake and Neytiri live :D
Alright, I've given my synopses on what I thought of his character, now it's your turn.
What synopsis am I supposed to give?
We both saw the same things, only you for some reason seem to think he was cartoonish and unrealistic on purpose as opposed to just being shitty.
We don't see very much of the mountain with the waterfall, now do we?
We see enough to get a sense of scale, and to see that it could not possibly function without there being some major unexplained and unseen magical phenomenon that was not covered in the film.

Sounds just like Avatar.

Am I the only one that noticed that about 80% of the "imaginative" animals of Pandora were just oversized glowing versions of critters that live in Earth's oceans?
Remember those crazy red frilly things that Jaeksooley touched when he first explored Pandora in his Avatar body that went "FOOMP!" into the ground when he touched them?
Fucking tube worms, man.

I just saw it tonight. Great movie. Way better than Inglorious Basterds anyway.
Also lets compare Avatar and District 9 because fuck why not.
His Name is Jake Sulley.

Because they are completly different.

And that big alien that charged at whats-his-face near the beginning was a cross between a rhino and hammerhead shark, and the other one that chased him was sort of like a panther.
That's like saying I can't compare Fanta and Sprite because they are "completly different".
BS thing to say really.
[editline]11:35PM[/editline]
They're gonna get compared anyway because they both came out the same year.
You wanna compare the taste of fanta and cola?
Sure why not.
Sure why not.
Ok, do that.
But its retarded
I think the point I was trying to make flew over your head.
I tried to get my $12.99 back, as I've seen this movie already. it used to be called Pocahontas.
What's so wrong with comparing completely different things anyway?
[editline]11:47PM[/editline]
These two movies aren't really that different. Common ground exists
I think I need to watch district 9 to take me down a notch after watching Avatar.
