Hey remember when a bunch of douches ran around the video game forum saying graphics don't make the game? Yeah that was pretty funny.
This. And I bet most of the people defending Avatar are Wii-tards. [editline]12:23AM[/editline]
I brought it up as an example because alot of people seem to hate this movie just because they can't stand a little science in their science fiction, at least not the kind that requires a little thinking to figure out.
Then those kind of people must have loved Avatar, because it was almost entirely devoid of science.
I hated the fact the soldiers had to die against some fucking retard-terradactyl riding-indian aliens with some goddamned bow and arrows. Why they hell did they mount a ground offensive? Stay at your damn base. The soldiers should've kicked their ass to kingdom come. For that, I didn't like the movie. I got pissed when people clapped because of that Colonel or whatever he was died in the Mech warrior suit thing.
:allears: Get over it, it's a goddamn movie.
:allears: Get over it, it's a goddamn movie.
Well then get over my opinion.
I aggre with Nelth is a goddamn movie !:D
i went to see avatar but my parents want take me
D'aww bless.
And I bet most of the people defending Avatar are Wii-tards.
Nope. I also don't really think Avatar is a sci fi movie, it's more of a fantasy.
where is the unicycle frog option? this guy:
Avatar may not be perfect, but IMHO it's a 10.
eh the characters were decently believable but the story has been done 1000 times before, and at some points it got really preachy, like on the verge of Ferngully status of liberal environmental preachyness. The visuals saved the movie for me.
Does anyone remember that scene where Jake and Neytiri were starting to get along, then it switches to the scene where they are planning on attacking Hometree, and one guy says "Hitting it is gonna be complicated."? I see what you did there Mr. Cameron.
He did that on a couple of occasions.
Really? Which ones?
Then those kind of people must have loved Avatar, because it was almost entirely devoid of science.
http://www.aintitcool.com/node/43440 Enjoy
http://www.aintitcool.com/node/43440 Enjoy
Looks legit. Also, who thought Polyphemus' giant storm was Jupiter's Big Red Spot, recolored?
I have one question, how did the water get up to the big floating rocks? I know that the roots of trees must have contributed some, but that amount is ridiculous. Or is this one of those ignore that moments?
Rain
I thought the movie was good, but I excepted so much more from James Cameron... I hope it wins the oscar for the special effects though. Pretty amazing visuals but the plot was kind of weak.
http://www.aintitcool.com/node/43440 Enjoy
90% or more of what he's talking about was not actually in the film. I don't give a fuck what nonsense they talked about OUTSIDE of the film if it didn't make it through editing. The film is riddled with them.

Rain maybe?
Weird that moment is the only one I can think of that's a "ignore that".
I suppose a lot of it is just improbable coincidences. Though the idea that a waify blue smurf-cat could do hand-to-hand battle with a gigantic, heavy metal mech suit is preposterous. An 8' tall, 250lb blue alien would not be able to deflect blows from that kind of armor.
Umm, except that as mentioned in the BEGINNING of the movie, they have adaptations such as carbon fiber in their bones, etc. Plus, I don't remember any of them actually being hit unproteected.
I'm visually unable to view 3d movies :saddowns: I have amblyopia. My friend said Avatar was good though.
We have to go back! D:
I thought it was really impressive and I loved the story. Great movie

Clearly the story bored you into a stupor and you didn't notice.. :downs:
I suppose a lot of it is just improbable coincidences. That feed-back mechanism is both a blessing and a curse in that scenario.
I really liked the movie although I'm no movie critic (not that I like critics in the first place, bunch of talentless rejects who put people with actual talent down, if you ask me).
It was good. CGI fest, but a really well done one at that.
