Hah, he just needs another 100 mill to have both the first and second highest grossing films.
Hah, he just needs another 100 mill to have both the first and second highest grossing films.
Next week probably.
Next week probably.
Yup.
What's the character of the guy with white hair? The elder?
Fifth highest grossing film worldwide after just 17 days. Nice.
No, not nice. After shit-tastic films like Transformers 2 doing well, and now this thing doing ASTOUNDINGLY well, this is the death knell for thoughtful, original cinema. All we're going to get from here on out is BOOM BOOM BOOM CGI EXPLOSIONS 3D HIGH REZ HD MAXIMUM ULTRASATURATION EXTRAVAGANZA with recycled plots.

He's just a talentless hack. Even if the story of Avatar wasn't original at all, it was very well delivered, the same thing cannot be said about Transformers 2. Avatar is good Hollywood cinema, period. Also, this is not the death of original cinema because it has always been like that. Smart/edgy/original movies are still being made This movie was made to entertain with big visuals and a simple yet well delivered plot. But oh well, haters gonna hate
I absolutely loved this movie, it was well worth the extra $3 for the 3D version, definitely the best movie that I have seen in 2009 and 2010 (so far). You really feel like you are on Pandora living along-side the Na'vi, the movie is just AMAZING, I wish I could rate it higher than a 10. I plan to see it again very soon, maybe a few more times
Pretty sure I was along side the humans.

Just because a bad film does good doesn't mean the good film makers are going to give up. Sure we had transformers 2 this year, but we also had Moon. There's still gonna be plenty of smart films for every mindless block buster that comes out.
Amazing film, one of the best I've seen in a long time.
story wasnt all that special, but the effects and 3D were awesome so i give it a 6

It's unwatchable even if you disregard the plot and putrid dialogue.
I just came home after watching it in 3D and what a freaking mind blowing movie ! Amazing really, i had no expectations when i went in there and i got handed the glasses, oh boy it blew me away ! Sweet effects and scenery incredible story that really comes under the skin and just about everything nice acting, haven't seen anything like this ever before, woha ! I wanna see it agaaain !
I still haven't seen Avatar. Not really sure if I will or not.
I still haven't seen Avatar. Not really sure if I will or not.
I think it's worth seeing once at least.
Avatar was actually done well, Transformers 2 is just pure shitslop. It's unwatchable even if you disregard the plot and putrid dialogue.
I liked it :saddowns:
Lets make a movie about giant transforming robots, except let's spend all the focus on the humans. This cannot fail.

Nice meme reply. What's it like not being able to articulate your own thoughts? [editline]11:40PM[/editline]
Lets make a movie about giant transforming robots, except let's spend all the focus on the humans.
I want to live on Pandora. :frown: P.S. The CGI part was 240,000 frames, each frame = 12MB. So the CGI part was almost 3TB(2812.5GB)...
Same, would be awesome. Oh well, too bad it's just a movie :(
Let's make an anti-war movie that preaches about environmentalism, except let's make the hippies a bunch of blue furries. Saw it yesterday. The 3D was great and well worth it. You really felt like you were on the edge of some of those mountains. [sp]Specifically when he's taming that weird bird thing.[/sp]
Saw it today in Real D 3D. It was amazing. Although nothing felt like it was popping out at me (Aside from bullets), it looked like Blu-Ray quality. And I thought the story was very good and drawn out to a very reasonable length.
They raved about an "awesome" storyline but unfortunately it was recycled garbage. Effects were cool, other than that I didn't like the movie.

amazing movie [sp] the chick that the dude(can't remeber names) fell in love with..was hot[/sp]
Wow I hate 3D. I can't stand how it forces you to watch it by gluing your eyes to the screen. You can't slouch or anything, it's uncomfortable!
Wow I hate 3D. I can't stand how it forces you to watch it by gluing your eyes to the screen. You can't slouch or anything, it's uncomfortable!
I saw it in RealD 3D, and I slouched most of the time without any loss in picture quality.
