I wanna re-watch it in 3D :saddowns:
When did I say people couldn't like it? I like plenty of shit that's mediocre. My problem is with people who say it's the "BEST FILM EVAR!!!" when it clearly ain't.
Obviously, some random person on the internet isn't going to change your opinion on the movie, and you won't change theirs. Can't do much about these people who have poor taste in movies or clearly don't get out much and watch good ones.
Take Lord of the Rings + Star Wars = Avatar (tho far more epic than those two combined) It's one of the best movies I've ever seen, and I've seen pretty fucking much.
No it is not better than Lord of the Rings or Star Wars. I liked it but it didn't come close to those at all. [editline]06:31PM[/editline] Also all the complaints about how dumb unobtanium sounds are totally wrong because most of our synthetic elements have absolutely horrible names, like UNUNUIUM. UNUNUNUNUNUNUNUNUNUNUNUNUNUNUNUNUNUNUNIUM
It had good effects, but it had a very basic story and I find that that detracts from the enjoy it. Oh and the lack of subtly about the environmentalist message, I found that essentially said Humans = bad.
Is it just me or did Neytiri look different throughout the film? I'm not talking about looks in terms of facial expression I'm talking about like her face in general. I don't know, during the trees of voices scene she looked very human with smaller eyes while when we first see her she looked very alien. Keep in mind while WETA did most cgi scenes, some scenes were outsourced to ILM. It is never specified which scenes though.
Jake got an ugly Haircut at the end.
Unobtainium is a real term in the scientific and engineering communities for any material difficult to obtain. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unobtainium Still, you'd think 14 years of work on this monstrous piece of eye-candy would have yielded a cool, unique name for the substance.
You would of thought 14 years of work would have had an original story.
Very true, I hope other directors and writers adapt Cameron's unique style of incorporating CGI into the film process. Perhaps Peter Jackson and Weta could do something cool and new and exciting.
Sorry if it's been posted, but is there still a copy of the original Project 880 script anywhere online?
You would of thought 14 years of work would have had an original story.
It has one, read the script, the publisher wanted it usuall
It has one, read the script, the publisher wanted it usuall
Somewhat. It was better, though most of the same problems and similarities remained. They just weren't quite as blatant. Though I agree, it was going to be much better until the fuckhead executives shat all over it, like always. I think that's something we can all agree on. Executives are fuckheads who couldn't come up with a decent idea if it was injected directly into their frontal lobes.
Sorry if it's been posted, but is there still a copy of the original Project 880 script anywhere online?
im not sure about the actual script but theres the overview of the differences in a link a few pages back
im not sure about the actual script but theres the overview of the differences in a link a few pages back
I saw that, I'm looking for the actual script though. I'm pretty sure he released it a few years ago.
Fern Gully. That is all.
Fern Gully. That is all.
oh fuck i fucking loved that movie, it was my favourite :D
Going back on topic, which its only going to be derailed again, James Cameron's Avatar is possibly the most epicest Sci-Fi movie I’ve seen, despite the over used white oppression stuff, but I’m only speaking for myself here, you guys can stick with what you think. 10/10 from me, I would go back and see it as many times as I could pay for it, or until I get it on DVD
oh fuck i fucking loved that movie, it was my favourite :D
holy fuck the genius it's too much
What's wrong with retelling an old story with a modern twist anyway?
I saw that, I'm looking for the actual script though. I'm pretty sure he released it a few years ago.
Could this be it by any chance? If its not then I don't know where to find it.
What's wrong with retelling an old story with a modern twist anyway?
Because it's not really a modern twist. The only differences are cosmetic. And to be honest, it was never that compelling to begin with.
It was awsome, third time. And i did notice a slight change in Ney'Teri. Someone said it was to get you a more emotional attachment to her to go along with jakes story better or something. Makes sense.
Unobtainium is a real term in the scientific and engineering communities for any material difficult to obtain.
A real, facetious term.
When did I say people couldn't like it? I like plenty of shit that's mediocre. [editline]11:43AM[/editline] I also really don't give a fuck about Unobtainium
My problem is with people who say it's the "WORST FILM EVAR!!!" when it clearly ain't.
Where has anyone said that? People, including myself, are only so aggressive about the film because 95% of the planet that has seen it says things like "omg best film ever" and "i wish i could rate it 11 out of 10! hurrrrr". I bitch about this film all the time, but I would still give it a 7/10.
http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Unununium
Oh wow that's so perfect, I shot some snot out when I read the Hamburgler part.

What I hate is the way other people are reacting to this, not the film itself. The film is very flawed, but it's certainly not anywhere near the worst film ever.
I agree with the name 'unobtanium', my heart kinda sank when I heard it (Coulda given it a more awesome name).
I missheard the name in the movie as Ununoctanium, which is a real element with the highest atomic mass and is also pretty mysterious in itself so I thought thats a great name, later I realized it was unobtanium, which I guess is pretty clever but kind of dumb sounding.
