Also all the complaints about how dumb unobtanium sounds are totally wrong because most of our synthetic elements have absolutely horrible names, like UNUNUIUM.

It had good effects, but it had a very basic story and I find that that detracts from the enjoy it. Oh and the lack of subtly about the environmentalist message, I found that essentially said Humans = bad.

Very true, I hope other directors and writers adapt Cameron's unique style of incorporating CGI into the film process. Perhaps Peter Jackson and Weta could do something cool and new and exciting.

Somewhat. It was better, though most of the same problems and similarities remained. They just weren't [I]quite[/I] as blatant. Though I agree, it was going to be much better until the fuckhead executives shat all over it, like always.
I think that's something we can all agree on. Executives are fuckheads who couldn't come up with a decent idea if it was injected directly into their frontal lobes.

Going back on topic, which its only going to be derailed again, James Cameron's Avatar is possibly the most epicest Sci-Fi movie I’ve seen, despite the over used white oppression stuff, but I’m only speaking for myself here, you guys can stick with what you think.
10/10 from me, I would go back and see it as many times as I could pay for it, or until I get it on DVD

I think so, but I remember it being titled as Project 880. This is pretty damn close though, the coverpage may have just been edited.

Because it's not really a modern twist. The only differences are cosmetic. And to be honest, it was never that compelling to begin with.

And i did notice a slight change in Ney'Teri. Someone said it was to get you a more emotional attachment to her to go along with jakes story better or something. Makes sense.

People, including myself, are only so aggressive about the film because 95% of the planet that has seen it says things like "omg best film ever" and "i wish i could rate it [b]11[/b] out of 10! hurrrrr". I bitch about this film all the time, but I would still give it a 7/10.

I thought it was kind of enjoyable I guess and would probably also give it a 7/10.
What I hate is the way other people are reacting to this, not the film itself.
The film is very flawed, but it's certainly not anywhere near the worst film ever.

I missheard the name in the movie as Ununoctanium, which is a real element with the highest atomic mass and is also pretty mysterious in itself so I thought thats a great name, later I realized it was unobtanium, which I guess is pretty clever but kind of dumb sounding.
