I cant find a decent picture of that gun, but I didn't want to post a massive image. So I put it in media tags, which looks like its a spoiler, but it's not.
No, I meant what's wrong with it? Is it some sort of clipping? Polo: Quaritch's vessel probably that more armour than those tiny choppers.
Voted 9 because it was pretty much perfect. Lot's of 3D-CGI cumsplashes in this movie.
Ok what I'm not getting is when all the humans came to the tree the arrows could just barely scratch the windows and then suddenly they would break huge holes through them later.
They were flying downwards on those big birds so the arrows had a much higher velocity...? I'm just guessing.
It's doing well because of sexy gigantic blue aliens in stunning 3D and amazing CGI. [editline]09:05PM[/editline] Only reason. [editline]09:05PM[/editline] Plus, it's like a mix of a bunch of good movies. (IMO)
Ok what I'm not getting is when all the humans came to the tree the arrows could just barely scratch the windows and then suddenly they would break huge holes through them later.
When they were originally shooting at the aircraft overhead, they were firing at an extreme upwards angle from quite a few hundred feet. The arrow would lose some amount of velocity going upwards. Later on, they were flying directly towards the aircraft, increasing the velocity of the arrows, and they were also only maybe 50 feet away from the windows.
They were flying downwards on those big birds so the arrows had a much higher velocity...? I'm just guessing.
Wesker up here had it right.
That still doesn't make sense because in the beginning it showed the same arrows, coming out perpendicular to giant rubber tires more dense than any window could possibly be, and they were very deep into them. It's as if the power of the arrow depends on the mood the audience should feel. :\
http://www.avatar-forums.com/showthread.php?t=1224
Avatar fanboys insisting that their movie is A-grade material, big surprise. Most of it boils down to "people say the story is bad, but actually it isn't because I thought it was brilliant!" You can find similar blogs "debunking" criticisms of Twilight.
It's called "You're not supposed to think about these things, now sit down and enjoy the bloody movie."
I think the words for that are "willful ignorance". Now I will let the waterfall off a floating island with no apparent water source fly because it looks cool but the arrow thing is just stupid. They're stupid blue people and they all deserved to get killed for not using their arrows right. That bitch gave the main character so much shit for not having good posture while shooting a bow but then she couldn't save her tree could she, COULD SHE.

"Hey, you can't say that about the film - you obviously should have spent ten hours reading the whole wiki so you can enjoy the film as much as I did 11/10 would watch again."
Star wars world, meets Pocahontas, meets halo marines.
Halo is a direct rip off of Aliens, a movie directed by Cameron.

Yeah the downwards direction would mean it wasn't fighting against gravity but it would still lose velocity because it would revert to terminal velocity. And terminal velocity for an arrow isn't that much. But really it's a fucking bow and arrow. It shouldn't go through something designed to defend against bullets. [editline]01:27AM[/editline]
Halo is a direct rip off of Aliens, a movie directed by Cameron.
uhhhhhh Yeah, sort of. The Flood are basically the aliens(if the aliens were headcrabs). But the story itself is about humanity's struggle to survive against a tyrannical imploding theocracy. Of course it takes elements from Aliens, but all action sci-fi does that. And seriously, the vipers(or whatever) look exactly like Hornets. Like, exactly.
Uh not really. Yeah the downwards direction would mean it wasn't fighting against gravity but it would still lose velocity because it would revert to terminal velocity. And terminal velocity for an arrow isn't that much. But really it's a fucking bow and arrow. It shouldn't go through something designed to defend against bullets.
Terminal velocity is relevant, but I also said that when they were shooting from their new in-air vantage point, they were much, much closer to the cockpits of the aircraft, AND, they are shooting almost straight-on, sending all of the force of the arrow right into the material, instead of the arrow kind of skinning the window as it goes up from the extreme firing angle. Also, if you haven't noticed the scale of a Na'vi to a human, the Na'vi are very much so larger. In the beginning of the movie when the Hell Truck drives past Jake, the tires are full of arrows. Did you see how big they were? Each arrow had the length of the diameter of that wheel. Same thing for when you see someone struck by one of the arrows, they are HUGE. The bow they are being fired from would also be much bigger than a conventional human bow. I'm not sure WHICH qualities, but an arrow has many different qualities than a bullet; I'm not sure, but perhaps that could be a factor in helping it penetrate the glass? And holy fuck I can't believe I just wrote all that in argument whether the arrows could penetrate the glass or not. It seems plausible to me, though. Considering the size, angle and circumstances shown.
Uh not really. Yeah the downwards direction would mean it wasn't fighting against gravity but it would still lose velocity because it would revert to terminal velocity.
Only after several seconds. They didn't have time to slow down that much before impact. Also, it's possible the windows weren't designed to be bullet-resistant.
It's called "You're not supposed to think about these things, now sit down and enjoy the bloody movie."
I wouldn't mind if the fucker hadn't written a fucking encyclopedia for the shit. The military chopper is not designed to be resistant to bullets. Tell me, does this movie take place before or after the advent of the saltine cracker tank?
I keep trying to come up with a counter argument but your avatar keeps preventing me from doing so.
It just says no to everything.
I went to see this movie a week or so ago, in 3D, I really enjoyed it, It was a pretty gripping storyline, It made me a little sad about the world we live on, haha. Although, I didn't really notice many 3D effects, I think I was too involved in it to notice that I was actually in a cinema with glasses on watching a film. Definitely one of the best films I have seen this year, even possibly ever.
i week now since i've watched it...i cant help it, arrh i must watch it again ! it's just goooooooooooood !

This film is so =/= real life that it's just inexcusable to say that either intersects the other. I mean fuck, who is like any of the people in that movie? Nobody that's who. You've got Burke, and Chip Hazard, and generic action hero #4256. Oh, and blue titties. How is that in any way like real life?
And seriously, the vipers(or whatever) look exactly like Hornets. Like, exactly.
The ones in Avatar look cooler.

This film is so =/= real life that it's just inexcusable to say that either intersects the other.
That's a little loud of you. I had similar thoughts after I finished watching this movie. I already hate humans enough, and after seeing the Na'vi frolic around in bio-luminescent plants on a beautiful planet, leading happy meaningful lives, I could barely stand getting into my car, spitting fumes out everywhere, bumping into unintelligent, fat shitbricks throughout the parking lot and theatre lobby; only to wake up the next morning and sit in a dull school building with a clusterfuck of idiots. Of course there's nothing similar to real life about the plot and universe the movie takes place in, but the movie has a strong environmental feel to it, and it also shows how horrible humans can be. I'd love to have a reason to live; I simply exist just to exist. I'm a student without a job who does nothing all day. The Na'vi seem to have reason for life, they embrace it and love it. Living like that would be wondrous.
just saw it and it was good also was it just me or was the blue chick's nips always seen
