I think the defining difference is that a weeaboo is blissfully self-ignorant. Otaku (at least in Japan) are self-aware and mostly proud of their culture. That's how it feels to me, anyway.
Well, weeaboos don't like to be called weeaboos, but they still like who they are. So not much of a difference.

Most weeaboos I know don't know the word "weeaboo" at all :v:
And don't lie - they have no idea who they are. Knowing who you are and liking who you think you are, are probably two entirely different things.

English has too many rules and japanese has a retarded alphabet.

Four Alphabets.
Hiragana (97 characters)
Katakana (97 characters + various additional combinations not present in Hiragana)
Kanji (Thousands)
Roomaji (26 Characters.)
anyone who uses japanese language with english language is a idiot in my opinion.
i think them learning the language would be worse though if they say stuff like that irl.
Using other languages mixed with your native language because you think it's cool is retarded. German, Russian, Chinese, whatever.
I can understand if it's a word we don't have in English like Versus (Latin), or something like that. I can also understand if they don't know the English equivalent
but a person being like "Oh that's so KAWAII~~~"
Fuck that. They shame our fine continent (Unless in Europe)

Technically only rōmaji is an alphabet among those. The kana are syllabaries and the kanji are ideograms (or "logograms").
hmmm well i dont really care i mean im not bugging anyone with my love for comics and I think Otaku's know who they are ^^ likeI know I have an odd obsession over comics and mangas and I accept it :D
Am I a weeaboo if I accidentally press ~ instead of ! in a sentence?
[editline]11:59AM[/editline]
Because I'm almost sure to myself that ~ only came up because someone used it instead of !

I have a friend who mixes random English sentences into his Slovenian (mother language) :(
But seriously, hell is weeaboo friends when you know japanese. Sucks to be you OP.
"United we stand, Divided we fall."
I think they were talking about broken half-languages when thay said that.
Okay so I am in fact an Otaku not a "fujoshi" as some girls at my school call them selves which I hate yaoi o-o so I rarely talk to them, only when they ask me to draw them yaoi couple fanfiction ;___;. and I get called a weeaboo because I make comics that of the Anime/Manga Style (not right to left of course) and I read tons of Manga to help me excel with my comics and I'm good too but I dont get why people call me a weeaboo, and yes I am taking Japanese classes because I really want to meet some famous mangakas and not sound like an idiot talking to them about their mangas. hmmmmmm =~= does this count me as a weeaboo really?
and look and behold; the prime example of the deviantart weeaboo
3 posts, a tenner, necropost, denial, Japanese emoticons, username, Japanese words, deviantart weeaboo hobbies, lrn2JapaneseSoICanKnoFamousArtists? Gentlmen, I think we have a winner :colbert:
Just... please try to actually learn Japanese... and not quit like 99.9% of weeaboos who all seem to have an attention span of 3 minutes... :smith:
