i'd love to learn the language. That way i can look awesome cause i know how to speak 3 languages and i can tell weaboos to eat it. They'll be like, "kawaii desu desu~~" and i'll say something in japanese and they'll be stumped and i'll feel awesome. Edit: Damn, i just read that over and i feel like a child...
オマエ ハ モ シンデイル.

[editline]01:58AM[/editline]
This reminds me of the time I tried learning my culture's language. It was a pretty awesome language and all, but daayyyuummm was it hard. There were sounds I had to speak that I didn't even know existed. Eventually that class ended and I can only remember a few phrases, but atleast I learned how to read within a month. And I have a cousin who can speak fluently who tries to teach me. It was all worth it though.
What language was it?

I was going to post something more long-winded but half of my logic-processing brain collapsed when you said the thing about the emoticons. I've been studying Spanish for years and I couldn't see myself walking around spouting idiotic, cute-sounding Spanish idioms at people and dressing in traditional South American garb. I don't watch TV shows in Spanish with English subtitles, unless of course I'm forced to sit there and watch telemundo, which never happens. I remember highschool, where my math teacher got stuck hosting the anime club against his will. I was there after school to make up a test, while the obnoxious, too-loud, oddly dressed anime kids flocked into the tiny math room. I went to another room to make up the test, and when I returned I found them all drawing (poorly) little anime cartoons and watching DVDs of Japanese cartoons with the language changed to Japanese and English subtitles turned on. The math teacher was asleep, the poor guy. It's a funny thought that the world is slowly turning American, while this small group of annoying highschool kids are trying to be in a culture which they don't belong to. I forgot where I was going with this, but hopefully you enjoyed the anecdote. The kids just frustrate me. I didn't even see an actual asian kid in the room.

I can't do anything but still... [editline]02:02AM[/editline]
Circassian, one of Earth's oldest languages.
The name sounds hard already.
I want to learn Japanese because it interests me. In fact a lot of languages do. But of course since my town is really retarded, the only languages they teach are French and Spanish, and I'm pretty sure it's like this throughout my school system. It saddens me because I've already learned a language that has "odd" symbols, as well as the fact that I'm studying French, and I'd like to learn even more. I don't know where I'm going with this but yeah. Thankfully I've never seen any real weeaboos. but I have seen an upperclassman wearing a naruto headband. He's like 500 pounds. Correlation?
Weeaboos are a disgrace to weeaboos that know Japanese.
The weeaboos that don't know any japanese seem to be the ones who always get extremely pissed off when you pronounce something japanese incorrectly. For instance I once saw some guy post a rant about how people pronouncing sage as "saje" and the first guy to reply posted in japanese characters, to which the OP responded "english pls."
Fixed
But aren't the Japanese actually the worst weeaboos with the whole otaku thing?

I'm pretty sure Otaku is a negative term in Japan.
But aren't the Japanese actually the worst weeaboos with the whole otaku thing?
Japanese otakus don't butcher the language and 99% are basement dwellers because Japanese culture looks down upon otakus. They at least have sense in not disclosing their interests in public weeaboos on the other hand butcher the language and openly smear their obsessions to random people's faces AND they think it's cool doing the previously mentioned

There's around two Japanese classes in my grade at my school. Only one person out of my entire grade I would classify as a weeaboo, but he doesn't go around saying "KAWAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~" constantly. In fact I don't think anyone in my entire school is like that. Going to a good school = :frogc00l:
aweaboos are attracted to anime because anime is very emotionally immature. a lot of it is very sexual and violent but it has the emotional depth of something for 8 year olds, and since most weaboos are very VERY immature for their age there's a bond between them. and since there's very few fandoms that are predominantly open to people like that, weaboos are a pretty big group i'll try to find my post about it in the gmf i think it was p good
That sums up 95% of anime at least.
The weeaboos that don't know any japanese seem to be the ones who always get extremely pissed off when you pronounce something japanese incorrectly. That just means the person is a bit smart and appriciate things being spelt right. It doesn't matter if you care about the language itself or want to learn it, what's right is right and what's wrong is wrong.
weeaboos on the other hand butcher the language and openly smear their obsessions to random people's faces AND they think it's cool doing the previously mentioned
They think it's cool and think Japanese people would love them and talk about anime all day with them. Whilst as you said, that's so fucking wrong as it's looked down upon just as much there as anywhere else.
Kawaii does mean cute right? Thats what my japanese stepmom said.
I hate weaboos. There's one that frequents a cafe' I go to, and just sits there reading anime with japanese writing. Thing is, he doesn't understand it, he just sits there and looks at the pictures and mumbles shit.
It's katakana.
Ahhh. I see. Well I hope I'll be taking lessons soon.
Why wont this thread just die?
Why wont this thread just die?
Because Weaboos are a serious issue.
Kawaii does mean cute right? Thats what my japanese stepmom said.
That's correct.
Why wont this thread just die?
Because these threads are brilliant discussion, flaming, trolling, arguing and quarreling material.
I'm learning Japanese as my language at school, and only really know most of the Hiragana alphabet, but only a couple random words like "good morning" and "sushi". I'm not a huge anime fan, but have read some Naruto manga that is at our library. It's sort of good, but I can see it going downhill.
Because these threads are brilliant discussion
In what way are these good discussion? "OMG, I HATE KAWAII ITS SO ANNYOING"
"Kawaii~~" people are like twilight fans and Justin Beaber fans. If they stay away from me and not annoy me, I have no problem with them. Also, as someone earlier said, it would be great to tell off some weeboos with japanese sayings. Actually, I'm heading over to google translate right now to find the perfect phrase to hit them with. [editline]10:25AM[/editline] "Watashi kara nyūshu shite kudasai, anata wa orokana animeotaku."
im taking japanese, i just find it more interesting than french or spanish (in other words, all the french and spanish teachers are bitches). im not a weeabo, and ive had the pleasure of never meeting one in real life before. [editline]11:29AM[/editline] people just need to stop relating the stupidity of these people to all anime bandwagon hate. go watch trigun fools.
I am a weeaboo, but even then I do not go around shouting japanese words I barely understand. It's like shouting random russian words. First, you look dumb in peoples' eyes who actually know the language, and second, it's DUMB.
But weeaboo isnt a word, Its a word filter! That filtered wapanese Also, about your friends and there random weeaboo "KAWAII DESU UGUUUUUUU" shit, all I can say is :wtc:
I've been learning japanese for a couple years, so I know a bit, but I fucking HATE anime/manga/etc, and a lot of other parts of japanese culture, so I'm not sure why I take it. I have a bunch of friends who take japanese with me, but they're mostly in the same boat (hate anime/weaboo shit). I'm also learning french and want to eventually learn spanish and mandarin for usefulness, so I guess it's more of wanting to be multilingual than wanting to learn about any certain culture.
オレ ヲ ダレ ダ ト オモッテヤガル!?
Are you using google translate or something? From what I know, katakana is usually only used for names and certain foreign words, and they don't use question marks, just "ですか。" or the impolite/etc alternative. But maybe it's just my lacking ability to understand katakana (even after I translate the characters), since I can't even understand what you're saying. [editline]05:21PM[/editline] Also, I like how weaboos always seem to pronounce it "こわいい(KOwaii)", not "かわいい(KAwaii)", because kowaii means creepy/scary.
Ich bin ein Berliner. auch. Wie Heißt du? Don't judge you German Pros.
Mein name ist AlienFanatic, und ich bin ein Amerikaner lol i'm in German level 2, but i want to learn a third language eventually maybe french or Russian or Spanish i would try to learn Japanese later when i have the tongue movements and stuff from other languages down
