yeah just put a layer of herb at the bottom, then dmt, then a thin layer of really fine herb. then vape it with your lighter

This won't work unless your spoon is a horribly made one. There's too much insulating air in a regular spoon to allow for proper heating of the materials in it unless they come in direct contact with the flame. Make a basic light bulb vaporizer if you wish to smoke DMT.

How much DMT do you smoke man? (unless you go with the one I suggested, which awesomely also looks less suspicious)
They're dirt cheap so if you're paranoid you can just throw it away, if you're sane you just keep it somewhere the wrong people don't look.

I don't smoke it, just extract it. It's just a personal opinion. If I were to use it I'd much rather use a light bulb vape that can be used for cannabis than to use something that is largely attributed to the use of methamphetamine.

That's completely irrational thinking.
Freebase DMT is not something you smoke where people are gonna see your crack pipe and shouldn't be used if you compromise your experience because the back of your mind is telling you to have something explainable to mum and dad.
This is a very interesting article that anyone interested in the chemical should read about. This is probably where I first heard of DMT, and is ultimately one of the top reasons why I want to have the experience:

Why not just sprinkle DMT on your weed? Either way, vaporizing is overall better. No product is loss through combustion and there's no toxins created by vaporization either with a clean product.

So I'm thinking about extracting DMT (for my own personal use, and a friend's) and I already know that I'm not going to make it in my house. Are there any tips on locations that aren't extremely sketchy or suspicious (and also safe)?

well you need access to a freezer and good ventilation. Tips on location would be a safe house that a friend owns? What kind of question is that, you can't "cook" dmt out in the wild it takes a little longer then that

No I got that, I found a good guide on Erowid that I'm gonna use and one of my friends would help. And I'll just be extracting it from some grass that I'll cut from my lawn.
