Im assuming you havent played LA Noire, RDR, or Max Payne 3 then.
[editline]2nd May 2013[/editline]
Because i havent heard of any xbox related things about them.
I own RDR on Xbox, framerate dips down in certain situations (especially in the forest) and it doesn't even have anisotropic filtering. I rented MP3 on Xbox and it ran alright, but that's a linear corridor shooter, and I played the PC version later on and it blew the Xbox one out of the water. I never played LA Noire though so I have no idea how that was.
Trying not to hype myself up because I know PC players probably won't be able to play until 2014, but it's getting really difficult.

I think they're due to pull a RDR and they'll never release it for the PC.

the ps3 port of red dead redemption is notoriously botched; i'm actually worried about the PS3 version of GTAV because of that

At least it had decent anistropic filtering though :v:

I don't have a reason for why they would do this, but I also don't have a reason for why not. Literally everybody thought RDR would come out for the PC in 2010. Here we are 3 years later and Rockstar still insists that they will not budge. Rockstar has said numerous times that they will not release it for PC.

I played it for PS3 and I don't remember any major issues at all. I played through both the game and the DLC completely and had no problems.

Except in this case rockstar hasn't confirmed it won't be coming for PC, and iirc seem to tip toe around the question rather than flat out answering it.

Now these quotes are just from some random users on NeoGaf but they're probably true for the most part.
I think it's actually more to do with the quality of the programming and the game's internal code.
Everything I've heard relates that it is a complete mess and it's almost something of a miracle that the game actually even works on consoles.
Glue and duct tape, essentially. Getting the game working properly on PC would mean substantially re-writing the code, I would assume. That seems to be the impression I've gotten over the years.

Apparently San Diego had a hard time getting that game together and getting it to stay together. Like, it's supposed to be held together with tape, from a programming perspective.

I've heard similar things. It's shocking to hear considering how good the game turned out but I guess there were quite a few crazy glitch videos out there.

The claims are about the code structure. On the surface it could perform fine but it could be a disaster to support and port.
Now I don't know where they got these claims from, they could all be bullshit, but it would make sense, somewhat.

I should have been more precise.
It is also worth mentioning that this isn't some guy going "Oh they'll release it, trust me, you'll see, yeah definitely you'll see, YOU'LL ALL SEE!"
This isn't that, it is statistically abnormal for Rockstar to not release the game on PC. It is their biggest franchise. This is also continuing Rockstar's trend of releasing PC versions of their games months after they hit consoles.
GTA 3 came out Oct 2001 for PS2, and May 2002 for Windows.
GTA VC came out Oct 2002 for PS2, and May 2003 for Windows.
GTA SA came out Oct 2004 for PS2, and June 2005 for Windows.
GTA IV came out April 2008 for PS3/360, and December 2008 for Windows.
Hell, even some of Rockstar's non-GTA franchises.
Manhunt came out November 2003 for PS2, and April 2004 for Windows.
Manhunt 2 came out October 2007 for PS2, and October 2009 for Windows.
Bully came out October 2006 for PS2, and October 2008 for Windows.
LA Noire came out May 2011 for PS3/360 and November 2011 for Windows.
Max Payne 3 came out May 2012 for PS3/360, and June 2012 for Windows.
Think Red Dead Redemption was a bad sign of no PC ports in the future? Red Dead Redemption didn't get a PC port because of the porting issues like MoarToast mentioned, as well as the game's predecessor (Red Dead Revolver) also being a console exclusive. Notice anything else about that list? Rockstar is working on their promise, on average, to make the release time-frame between console and PC releases of their games smaller.
I just don't understand why people think like this. The evidence is right there in front of you, so you must be completely idiotic if you think they're not making a port just because they haven't announced it yet. You people did the exact same thing with GTA IV was coming out. They didn't announce it initially at first, but then it came out for PC. I can't speak for how GTA V is going to run on PC, but considering GTA IV was Rockstar's first time with the engine on an open world game and also their first time using Euphoria, they had a tough time with it. Rockstar Toronto also did the PC port for GTA IV. Guess what? Rockstar Vancouver merged with them, and are no longer doing any PC ports of Rockstar titles by themselves. Like Max Payne 3, GTA V is being developed by every single Rockstar branch. This is partially why Max Payne 3 is so damn polished. To be fair, it's also a smaller and linear game compared to GTA, but I will be damned if anybody says Max Payne 3 isn't optimized. Getting back to RAGE, their game engine, they've also had many years to experiment and practice with optimizing and making games with it. The past 6 years since GTA IV came out, infact.
Think with your noggin once and awhile, people.
I'll just get it for consoles then get it on PC when that comes out and live with absolutely no regrets because GTA is that good.
I should have been more precise.
What I meant was "Rockstar has said numerous times that they will not release (GTA V) for PC."
No they didn't, they said they have no plan for it, they never straight up said they aren't going to release it for the PC. They said it's "up for consideration"/that there won't be a PC version at launch. Just like how GTA 3 didn't come out for PC at launch, and Vice City, and San Andreas, and 4.
The only thing that could possibly hype me more is if they pulled a Red Dead Redemption and made a zombies themed DLC. I know zombies have been done to death (har har) but with this open and massive of a world, I'd love to see it used in a zombie game. I mean, having to find shelter in a zombie infested LA would be fun as shit, especially if they could do free roam with friends.
Does anyone else think the graphics looks really fucking great?
I'm surprised how crisp and clear it is compared to GTA IV

Its because theres actually color.
Also some neat new shading.

And the textures dont appear to look like complete shit up close.
i don't care if the textures are 'bad' according to a few unflattering screens, that fucking lighting system is fantastic

I must have misread/misremembered then. I got the impression that they outright said there will be no PC launch but you seem to be right, as I can now no longer confirm it.
This, however, only raises more questions. Why are they being so tight lipped on PC? Is it because they genuinely don't know that it will come to PC, or are they pulling some sort of crazy publicity stunt? Both realities are uncomfortable ones.

Ignoring the condescension in his post, he makes a very good point but I don't think this "proof" is as obvious as he makes it out to be. I don't think the average person is going to make a table of game release dates like he did. My point is entirely moot, however.
The amount of stuff they talked about in that video gave me goose bumps.
I absolutely shat bricks over the idea of having to actually plan out heists with having to focus on small details like buying masks, hiring certain crew members, and finding out how to achieve certain goals. I've always loved that idea for a game and now GTA is doing it? Fucking RAD.

That really sounds like an amazing game. I wasn't interested before this video, but I'm interested now.
They didn't change much for the LS Kings logo :v:

By the way, with the three man-band set up, did Rockstar say anything about co-op? Because I literally can not come up with a more perfect premise than this.
But why would they do such a stupid thing?
Because reasons :v:
Makes sense too.
PC isn't exactly as profitable as the console market... as in not even on the same spectrum. Judging by the amount of content and details they are putting into GTA V, this game is probably incredibly expensive to make. They probably want to break even on that before ever considering throwing money at a PC port (and rumor of a Wii U Port apparently). Besides, I'm sure they took a big hit after Max Payne 3's poor sales.
Just be patient. I'm sure they'll make a PC port if they feel like they can do it without suffering a loss.
That video was awesome, just read both of the articles in the news section as well. This game is just going to be unreal and I am so friggin' excited to play it! I also see there is a huge graphics debate going on in here, so I'd like to leave a few of these, if I may..

Kinda puts into perspective just how impressive GTA V really looks.
