I havent been this hyped in so long!
Nobody mentioned that random license plates are back. They used to just read LIBERTY CITY.
How were the controls awful? They were pretty much the same as all the other games.
I have never played a game with such terrible driving in it before. I thought that they would have made it better considering that roughly 75% of the game was driving, but no they made it some of the floatiest and unpleasant controls ever put into a game.

I thought the driving was some of the best vehicle handling in any sandbox game, how the hell was it even remotely awful? It was a perfect representation of real vehicle handling without being too hard.
If you want terrible vehicle handling play Just Cause 2. GTA IV's handling was good unless you were driving at 100mph.

I never really felt like I was getting up to speed, and whenever I wanted to turn I was forced to slam into whatever wall I was near. If you accidentally rear-end a car at 5 mph you go soaring through the windshield. It was a huge chore for me up until roughly the beginning of the final act of the game. I stopped playing at that point because Games for Windows Live fucked up my save and I frankly didn't want to play through 20 hours of some of the most tedious missions I've ever seen in a game since San Andrea's gang takeover missions. I usually don't pass judgement on a game until I've beaten it but I made an exception for GTA IV. Granted, me playing with a mouse and keyboard could have contributed to the fact that driving was godawful for me. Then again, seeing Saints Row 3 get the driving controls so absolutely right made me question that. For the most part I was able to get around without driving.

The driving was nothing like that, you only really spun out if you were going at a high speed and tried to just slam on the brakes without really controlling the turning. The cars actually felt like they had weight to them, they felt like actual cars, not like some bumper cars.

I remember not enjoying the driving so much that when I had to restart the game I just flat-out gave up on the game. I am considering getting one of those Iron Man mods or Ghost Rider or something and then playing through the game like that to make the game interesting again while finally beating the story, but I don't know. It takes like 15 GB to download. [editline]3rd May 2013[/editline] Fuck it, downloading now. I'm gonna beat this sucker, even if it kills me. It will be one of my summer projects.
I hope there are a lot of bank heists GTA 4s bank heist was gooood I typed this JUST before they started talking about heists I pooped a little
I hope there are a lot of bank heists GTA 4s bank heist was gooood I typed this JUST before they started talking about heists I pooped a little
the game is ABOUT heists. they're the main point of the campaign

Either I'm going to have to hibernate until this comes out on PC and not be able to run it, or I'm going to be ordering a PS4 at some point. [editline]3rd May 2013[/editline]
the ps3 version is borderline unplayable, honestly. i fucking hate pop-in
I must have been playing a completely different game from you people then.
I love how people are posting stuff like 'This game looks awesome, but I hope this feature ends up in it because the game would fucking rock even harder' and then said feature turns out to actually be in the game so hyped!
I don't want to get too hyped for this, especially if they don't release it on PC...
They will. Just later.
They will. Just later.
Red Dead Redemption
Red Dead Redemption
People keep citing red dead redemption, but what about all the other GTA Games? Max Payne 3? Bully? LA Noire? It's not like they never port to PC. They usually do outside of a few games of theirs.
Red Dead Redemption
Rockstar San Diego =/= The other Rockstar branches.
Red Dead Redemption
Literally every other GTA game and most other Rockstar games were on PC. Stop pulling this Red Dead Redemption shit. Also, nobody brings up Max Payne 3, which was their most recent game. You know. For PC.
Red Dead Redemption
RDR is a sequel to Red Dead Revolver, a game that wasn't released on PC. It also had an incredibly long dev time wracked with problems - this combined with the lack of an established fanbase on PC probably killed the port stone dead, it just wasn't viable. GTA has an established fanbase, all the main games have come out on PC before, and the previous game sold very well for a PC game. Rockstar have never announced the PC version with the console versions and it's never released until a few months after. Probably to push people into buying the console versions, i.e. everyone with a console buys it there then they can mop up the dedicated PC crowd and get repeat buys later.

They never have. North, Vancouver, Leeds, New England, and Toronto are the ones who do it.
Then again, seeing Saints Row 3 get the driving controls so absolutely right made me question that.
This says it all. A little tip, Sargent. Try using the brakes once in a while, you won't hit so many walls! I presume racing games such as Forza got the driving controls so wrong too? I mean, you need to slow down for corners, how unrealistic.
I knew that I wanted to get this game anyway just because it's the next GTA game. But then I watched this video and got seriously hyped. I didn't realise how much better it's going to be than GTA IV (or at least sounds that way).
Excuse the quality but have some newer screenshots.
So uh yeah, anyone notice the shark in that picture? Lower right hand corner, like a silhouette
the game is ABOUT heists. they're the main point of the campaign
woah woah did they say that somewhere? Is that Micheal's background or whatever, is that he's a bank robber?
Get the realistic handling mod if you end up reinstalling, it makes the cars a ton more fun to control
are you serious? when youre taking off and youre stuck on first gear, the car keeps picking up speed. how is that realistic? if youre playing on PC and not using controller i can see why you think the car handling sucks.
So uh yeah, anyone notice the shark in that picture? Lower right hand corner, like a silhouette
Yes, sharks are in the game. And they will attack you apparently.
are you serious? when youre taking off and youre stuck on first gear, the car keeps picking up speed. how is that realistic? if youre playing on PC and not using controller i can see why you think the car handling sucks.
That's just what the mod's called, I find it makes it more fun so perhaps it's a misnomer
Or the simpler answer: Rockstar San Diego just don't do PC ports. They never have. North, Vancouver, Leeds, New England, and Toronto are the ones who do it.
Well that doesn't have anything to do with this anyway, it has almost always been a different team that has done the PC port. Arguing about whether it's going to be released on PC or not is pointless anyway. It might be released or it might not, we don't know. All we know is that it's not going to be released at the same time as the console versions.
woah woah did they say that somewhere? Is that Micheal's background or whatever, is that he's a bank robber?
Yeah, he was a bank robber and made a deal with the feds in a exchange for a couple of millions and a mansion. You should read up on character backgrounds.
