That's not quite right though, a political subforum would allow you to post your ideals and discuss them with others, Mass Debate is for debating issues and Sensationalist Headlines is for news.
Difference between the bolded is?
Politics happen every day. Just post a politically volatile article in SH and the discussion, I very much assure you, will boil down to the politics of the topic, not the article in itself.
is it appropriate for me to drag out the hoary old chestnut "xxx IS LIKE A PENIS etc"
Can somebody explain to me how minimum wage works?
It seems that if you would raise minimum wage, all prices for goods would raise accordingly. Is there a reason that this isn't the case?

People don't think or care if prices are raised along with wages, they just care about themselves getting higher pay.
The sad part is, if wages were lowered I highly doubt the prices of goods would drop along side it.

I don't think it would. Minimum wage is absolutely pathetic anyway, bumping it up a bit isn't going to pour so much money into the economy that prices go up to compensate.
-Market regulation
I believe the government has a place to play in the economic affairs of the nation. It should be responsible for preventing monopolies, price gouging, and financially unsustainable policies (i.e. implement stock market limitations). It should also strive to ensure product and service safety with guidelines, enforced testing, and legal prohibitions.

If you make the claim that a corporation is not allowed to form a monopoly, regulate themselves, or anything similar, you will have a hard time making the claim that a government official has that very right. In a fair world, with a fully representative government that is actually accountable to people versus business interests or special interests, I could very well see the expedience in allowing the government to regulate and control a market. This is still only expedient, however, and not morally right.
To have one dictator or any group of dictators putting involuntary restriction on groups or societies is fundamentally flawed. This applies to the CEO, and it sure as hell applies to the Bureaucrat.
So, i figure i'll jump in on a part of it at least.
The thing that's always bugged me about the gay marriage debate is how half the people spouting the "sanctity of marriage" bullshit line are working through a divorce, if not multiple ones. I wouldn't care if the guy just came out and said "I think being gay is a choice, and i don't like people being gay!" but to hide it behind some religious nonsense when you're cherry-picking your favorite and least life-obstructing bible scriptures to believe in while still feeling good about yourself bothers me.
I don't know why people seem to think that gay marriage is like some gateway drug to a 100% gay nation that's banging out the same sex all day, and then eventually devolves into bestiality. That argument boils my blood.
