I looks like some game that is trying too hard to make the graphics with colorful filters look good so they can put the word "Atmospheric" on the back of the box.
I honestly have zero interest in this so far.
Might be some snazzy new tech, but the art direction looks so terrible.
It looks "so terrible" because it has a blue filter? That's a bit of a stretch, don't you think? If it isn't about the blue filter, then what? It is a beautiful looking game, with good lighting and graphics, I can't really imagine where the problem is (besides the filter)
so do pictures of real life
whoa now, lets not go that far

you know the graphics are kind of pointless to care about when and if the filter takes up like 95% of the entire games graphics and turns it a really bland, generic, and constant blue
you're going to be looking at the screen 100% of the time you're playing the game.
GET EVEN, the NEW and EXCITING ULTRAREALISTIC BIDEO GAME featuring SOLDIERS from a PLACE doing things in a DESERTED PLACE. Perhaps you will GET EVEN with them? Perhaps you will SAVE the GOTHIC PRINCESS?
GET EVEN
GET EVEN
GET VEVEN
FUCK
The one pic of the weapon shows the future in that "thermal" sight.

You and I both know the filter does not take up like 95% of the entire games graphics. Literally all it does is modify the graphics that already exist by adding a blue tinge to it, that is not even close to a big deal.

It changes the appearance of everything in the game by adding the blue tinge
it's like wearing blue sunglasses, of course everything looks the same but very different.

Ehh, all the colors of the world are still there, but they have a blueness to them, it doesn't change much anything because all the colors are still the same and easily recognizable.
[editline]2nd February 2014[/editline]
Except it sure does make a difference when you're in a building with white walls everywhere, makes everything seem blue.
I immediately recognized the setting.

And now I see it's the same YT user, which explain things.
But yeh, everything they use is properly 3D scanned or likely used a base.
Looks like they used that area in the trailer too
[img]http://puu.sh/6HQ0j.jpg][/img]
That trailer was horrible tbh, didn't explain anything about the story or gameplay at all.
Cool, but im not interested in yet another grim boring horrer game.
Oh I remember reading an article about this game, it's supposed to blend single and multiplayer together or something.

The tech can be anything it wants to be, the setting is what pulls a person into the game.
I'm just not a big fan of tacticool mixed with angsty bandits, i've seen it a billion times now.
But hey, if you're stoked for it. All power to you, it just doesn't rock my boat.

The universe so far is an abandoned building with some digitally effects, you know next to nothing about the universe besides the most basic elements and you're already making a final judgement.
The universe so far is an abandoned building with some digitally effects, you know next to nothing about the universe besides the most basic elements and you're already making a final judgement.
Yes, and i'm not going to discuss it with you.

Not like I expected you to be able to back up your baseless opinion anyway
Not like I expected you to be able to back up your baseless opinion anyway
You're funny.
And with those graphics they created one heck of a boring environment that will probably only amaze the type of people that measure graphics by how close they can get to a rock/concrete texture until they start seeing the pixels.
Can't imagine the budget will allow for much variety either, so what's the point of having lots of polies and high textures if they still make the environment incredibly boring to look at?
At least Crysis tried (sorta) with the tropical island environment, which is also a pretty well-worn environment type but still offers more than "a broken graffiti wall" to look at.
That trailer was terrible and the only reasons it looks "more realistic" are because it's using nice large textures+bumpmaps (which is an obvious thing to do when you've got 50gb of storage and 4-6 gb of RAM to play with) and because everything is dark and covered with filters.
It's a known fact that upping the contrast and making everything darker results in it looking more realistic/detailed, that's a huge part of why Cry of Fear looks as good as it does on the goldsrc engine and why a lot of horror games look gorgeous for the most part.
ok
now this
with oculus rift
Smells like conspiracy.
title of the video is get even, we all know valve can't count to 3, they skipped hl3 and we're going straight to hl4.
I'm honestly not impressed. From that trailer what i've gathered is that they're intergrated the graphics themselves almost as a story characteristic. That its supposed to be confusing as to what's "real" and whats not.
I refuse to beleive that trailer is anything ingame because at times it literally looks like just average footage of a building mixed in with graphics which are noticeable at times like bricks and damaged rubble on the wall. I mean looking at the models for those military guys was pretty nice but they didn't look AWESOME.
Call me some edgy faggot or something going against this but nothing here really impressed me.
it suffers from the same shit Dues Ex / Battle field / COD has by having bad filters
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought all the yellow in Deus Ex III was a stilistic kind of choice?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought all the yellow in Deus Ex III was a stilistic kind of choice?
It was, the yellow isn't a filter in deus ex but instead yellow is just a prominant color used in the level designs themselves. They didn't just slap over a filter.
The more we focus on 'realistic' graphics, the term 'gameplay' and 'story' seem to get lost in the variables.
Not that I disagree with getting better graphics, but having graphics without having a decent game behind it, will make it flop.
Oh I remember reading an article about this game, it's supposed to blend single and multiplayer together or something.
When will developers learn that mixing single and multiplayer is not a good idea?

scanning isn't. gonioreflectometers have existed since the the '90s
no it doesn't

if you're going to try and make a game look "Realistic" don't add hundreds of filters onto the thing and then brag. It looks insanely shitty and makes the entire point of realism go exactly in the opposite direction.
it looks like the entire game was flooded by blue koolade and then drained
I'd rather have ~easy on the eyes and generally nice looking if you care about graphics that much~ than ~realistic and grey~
When will developers learn that mixing single and multiplayer is not a good idea?
It'd be okay if they didn't ruin it every time. It worked for L4D in versus mode, it could work in other places.
[editline]3rd February 2014[/editline]
Also what's the game even supposed to be lol
[editline]3rd February 2014[/editline]
the game uses textures which were scanned from real life.
You realize this is how textures are made right.
People don't just paintbucket some grey, add noise, make lines, add noise to those, blur them, sharpen them, more noise, and then apply to the gray.
That's literally the closest I think I could get to realistic concrete without using pics of IRL things.

Totally gonna be Next Gen.
