Music Off-Topic Discussion v.3 - Now With More Beard

I always feel out of place now because a ton of people I know are into soul or really old music. Like 40s and earlier.
But me, I like stuff from the 50s to the 80s. Stuff I can dance to. Funk, disco, skiffle, rock n' roll and all that.
Older music is nice, I won't deny that, but it just doesn't have the same vibe that I prefer.
Aretha Franklin is a good place to start.
But also try Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill and Sade.
Spotify'd <:
Also I put in Maggot Brain since I remmeber you posting it somewhere and my friend also really loves it too. So yes yes yes new music.

It's gonna take me years to get this last fm crap up to how I want it to be :argh:
There should've been a thread on it years ago so I could've started then!
I listen to old music bro
Jazz and blues don't count?
Nah, jazz and blues will be forever a "scene" in some sort of way.
I see myself going to obscure jazz and blues clubs in the future anyway :3:
What I mean is kind of the early folk scene and pop stuff from that time.

My uncle listens to pretty much nothing but swing/jazz from the '50s (The Rat Pack sorta thing). He said the music I was listening to was "a bit too modern" for him.
I was listening to Selling England By The Pound by Genesis, released 1973 :v:

How nice of him. I'd recommend starting with Worse Than Alone, then working your way back to Rosy Red Glasses as it gets heavier, more aggressive and less experimental. :buddy:
