Assuming Van Gogh is as opinionated as you are about art would be an even worse offense than putting him on the same level as these stage performer. He died relatively poor, in terrible health, drunk and scorned by the people around him. Only after he died he was considered one of the artistic greats, and I can't imagine him wishing the scorn he received on someone else. And why isn't he a modern artist? Modern does not equal contemporary, you know. And yes, Van Gogh didn't only die poor, he was also a fair bit insane. That's a reason why his paintings stand out of the crowd. But, with all due respect, I see no misinterpretation of his life to support my "bullshit". i didn't even say anything about his life. I just said he's an artist, while people having sex on stage aren't.

Well, if these people will be praised as great artists in the future, and I'll live to see it, I will gladly admit that I was wrong. True, the greatest minds and artists go ahead of their times, and thus, can only be properly understood in an era when they're long gone. That's the tragedy of the greatest minds.
