PewDiePie says "What a fucking nigger" after PUBG teammate dies

At the end of the day if you're one of the biggest personalities on youtube with an audience in the millions you just can't be saying nigger on stream.
I really wish people would stop bringing this up.
That was YEARS AGO, he apologized for it, publicly acknowledged he was being a bellend, the guy forgave him, and so far as I know they became friends after it.
The problem is that this entire apology doesn't hold much weight anymore when he has repeatedly failed to learn any long lasting lessons from it.
He constantly fucking crawls back onto twitter and stirs shit up despite repeatedly acknowledging that it's a terrible thing for him to do on many levels.
I really can't give TB much stock anymore because he just won't stay true to his word.

Does anyone know who he is talking about? I really hope it isn't Leonard French.
So according to the unoffical subreddit this was apparently about Russ Pitts attacking Totalbiscuit, and not Mr. French.

TB is condemning PDP though...? is this guy stupid
This is a clusterfuck of stupid at this point
TB is condemning PDP though...? is this guy stupid
As someone who used to visit the Escapist daily, yes Russ Pitts is a fucking moron. He was by far the worst part of the website back in the day.
TB is condemning PDP though...? is this guy stupid
if you're not literally crucifying the guy then its not good enough to these people
This is turning into less about what PDP said and more about people fighting over who can publicly hate him more.
The fuck is wrong with the goddamn internet lmao.
-snip-
Just an observation that might be completely off base but people seem to care more a journalist being really bad at a game than this dude saying a racial slur.
I haven't watched his apology video but good on him for admitting he was at fault rather than doubling down on idiocy.
Can't believe how much outrage one nigger has caused

Because someone being actually bad at their job while also having industry influence through their job is worse than saying nigger off hand while playing PUBG.

There's a reason it's called the internet hate machine

... and why should people care in the first place about a sound someone made with their mouth? If more people stop giving a shit about scary bad words, then we may get somewhere someday... but perpetuating and acting like its the end of the world is fucking stupid.
It's a word, it has history, let's remember it does, and not give it the power it has/had.
Either it's all okay or none of it is.
Let's bring all the slurs back. Let's start calling black people apes and Jews kikes. Let's see how that goes!

The assumption that it is all okay or none of it is is contingent on the notion that everyone has equal rights and an equal experience in life, when they don't. Many groups, including black people, have both historically faced extreme discrimination (for black people, this discrimination was the institution of slavery), and are still subject to discrimination to this day. The fact that racism stemming from the historic institution of slavery (an institution that still persists to this day in the form of the prison-industrial complex) is still experienced by black people makes the use of a slur that was an integral part of historic institutions of discrimination (the n-word) unacceptable to this day, because the same institutions still exist. People are offended by a word associated with an oppressive institution, because people are still oppressed by the institution.
If you are really so keen for the n-word to not be racist, maybe you should try to understand why it is racist, and then work to remove racism. Words have power because they are used to communicate and enforce our actions; the n-word has power because it has been and is still used to communicate and enforce racist institutions.
If you think that the n-word and other slurs are just 'scary words,' then why isn't calling someone racist another 'scary word?'
I dunno why some people are so eager to say that word anyway.
IMO, he said something bad and apologized for it. People are messy. It's so superficial to hold these famous people to sky high standards that no one actually lives by.
As far as I can tell, he's not a racist. So what else am I supposed to think other than it being a mistake?
I dunno why some people are so eager to say that word anyway.
Because this is the internet and Anonymity removes all consequences. Saying or calling someone a nigger or a fag on the internet has no consequences unless you're on a restrictive website, and even then, it's only a ban/warning. Saying something so bad consequence free is fun for some people.
Bad words with the addition of having different severities to them, also has to actually sound good to.
Personally, I hate how the word fuckboy sounds so it doesn't ever see any usage outside of very specific jokes.
To a person like Idubbz, he likes saying nigger because it sounds good as an insult and he doesnt care about the severity of it since to him, all bad words are the same.
The fact that nigger is a popular term that is taboo outside of certain races plus the fact that it sounds good makes it very appealing for people who dont care about the baggage attached to it.
I don't know which is worse; this thing blowing out of proportion or the people being actual racists to the people who are defending pewds

is it just me or does it seem weird that the guy who said nigger on stream has so far been the most mature about the whole thing
like, pewdiepie puts out a response video that seems nothing but sincere, honest regret at what was a heat-of-the-moment mistake, whereas people like totalbiscuit are just falling to pieces with immature, nonsense twitter posts
this whole event has made me respect pewdiepie more than before, he's a dumb shit for saying nigger on stream, but his response to it was absolutely top notch and exactly the sort of response that you want to something like this
this "controversy" has told us more about the people responding to it, than the person that it is centered around.
p.fucking sad
i respect that TB might be more abrasive than usual or whatever due to treatment, but if that's the case, he needs to stop getting involved in things like this if he can't approach them level-headed
By now it seems that the only people who legitimately got pissed off at Pewdiepie are white cunts who just wanted to get mad in place of the people who by their own logic actually had a right to get mad at the use of the slur.
We even had some people here go "U GUYS DONT KNOW SHIT ABOUT OPPRESSION" while basically being proxy-offended at a word that inherently had no bearing on their life.

Well someone can say "nigger" and not be racist, depends on the context. There is a lot of history that everyone needs to know, but fighting over literal mouth sounds just seems completely unreasonable to me. I just hope someday we can all get along is what I'm saying.
I appreciate that you put work into your reply, rather than kicking and screaming like a child, I'm actually really happy that nobody d-

On some level i can understand Pewdiepie saying it being a genuine mistake based on what other people spam in voice chat, especially since he showed genuine regret and apologized, but god damn "Faggot" and "Nigger" sure comes out real fucking easy for Destiny here.

And "Gook" too, didnt even notice that at first.
