On some level i can understand Pewdiepie saying it being a genuine mistake based on what other people spam in voice chat, especially since he showed genuine regret and apologized, but god damn "Faggot" and "Nigger" sure comes out real fucking easy for Destiny here.
I feel as though a double standard is in play. Is it okay or not to use the word? Does it depend on the individual or is their some kind of unstated rule?
In the video, isn't the point he's making that all of those hateful statements are utter nonsense?
Yeah but then he's fine with typing out [t]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DJi_XBLVwAAxYH-.jpg[/t] In his twitch chat.
Yeah but then he's fine with typing out [t]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DJi_XBLVwAAxYH-.jpg[/t] In his twitch chat.
Oh man, he even does the whole "low IQ" thing, Destiny really is an intellectual try-hard, hot damn.
This is turning into less about what PDP said and more about people fighting over who can publicly hate him more. The fuck is wrong with the goddamn internet lmao.
Remember, since 2007 parents have been giving their phones to their kids to distract them. Now those kids are 10 years older, and have plenty of experience using the internet. It's no surprise to me why this particular event is so explosive, because think of the guys core viewers and their general age.
Well someone can say "nigger" and not be racist, depends on the context. There is a lot of history that everyone needs to know, but fighting over literal mouth sounds just seems completely unreasonable to me. I just hope someday we can all get along is what I'm saying. I appreciate that you put work into your reply, rather than kicking and screaming like a child, I'm actually really happy that nobody d-
If your mother was in the hospital in a coma or some shit, and someone made a joke about it, would you get mad at them? It's the same sort of principle, we can't just reduce words to 'mouth sounds' because 'mouth sounds' are one of the main ways we communicate with people. The words people choose can speak volumes about what they actually believe. I think we're operating on different definitions of what a 'racist' constitutes, which is why we are at a disagreement, at least in part.
He got caught out looking at porn in another stream. 14 pages of people already knew that, as they properly mentioned it.
lmao all these non black people getting mad
We can't just reduce words to 'mouth sounds' because 'mouth sounds' are one of the main ways we communicate with people. The words people choose can speak volumes about what they actually believe.
Right. Except people aren't too good on interpreting those mouth sounds, so we end up with people assuming way too much based on way too little. Saying "Nigger" isn't enough to label someone as a "Racist". You can't get someone's entire beliefs on humanity based on barely even 2 seconds of mouth sounds they made with no racist intent. It takes a little more than that, I believe.

If somebody says nigger in my proximity then I dont give a shit (and i'm actually one of the few people in this thread who've actually had to deal with being called one irl so please dont tell me how to feel) but if somebody specifically calls me out for the colour of my skin then yeah sure.
the absolute mad man did it again https://oddshot.tv/s/afax_9
lmao all these non black people getting mad
Every time something like this happens it's never the actual group that the slur refers to that get offended, it's always a bunch of middle class white people getting offended on their behalf. Even worse is said middle class white people will lash out at any person from that group who tells people to cool down, like what destiny did.

Shocking. I'd much rather see someone that seems reasonable, to the point of not shutting down anyone that would ever oppose them on a subject, talk rationally about it.

As for claiming that the latter video is made by someone who is unreasonable, how do you know?
I'm definitely not a longtime fan of PDP... only some of the more recent videos I've seen and had a few chuckles... but he actually does put work into his videos. I don't know why hating on him for this has to lead to backing up someone that everyone knows puts zero work into their content. As for the 2nd video... because I know an echo chamber when I see one. I'm comfortable staying out of the extreme ends of the political spectrum, and watching both sides from the outside is entertaining, to say the least. I usually just watch the posts between people like you, Tudd, some others that are probably best known for their political opinions on the forum; but I've kinda gotten tired of the constant shit-flinging where nobody ever gives in to even a slightly rational conversation over any topic. You make good points sometimes, but that doesn't make you right all the time. You should never think you're 100% right just because you can easily find someone else on the internet that has the same opinions you do on something, and try to use that over and over thinking that pounding your beliefs into someone else's head is going to make them bend to your will. Take opinions in if you're going to take part in conversations that are literally about opinions, rather than repeating yourself. I'm rambling now, I know, but I'm just flabbergasted (best word ever) at how it feels like everyone on the extreme ends of political stuff (both sides) never even try to actually listen to each other. Just do me a favor and look at some of her other videos before you reply to this. It's as obvious as it gets.

I'm a big h3h3 fan, but I'm really happy to see people pointing that out. Ethan really irked me on the podcast when he was talking about this situation, seemed condescending or holier-than-thou. I love the guy, and the niggerfaggot stuff was of course light hearted, but he can't act all innocent with he way he himself was just throwing the word out over and over.

If you ever met me in real life, I would more readily admit I'm an idiot over being intelligent. I've been convinced of arguments that people have posted here and I've admitted when I've been wrong dozens of times. I honestly wouldn't post here if I didn't want to hear opinions from people on the other parts of the political spectrum. Tudd's a bad example because he's an asshole but I get along fine with some of the more conservative folks here. Grenadiac comes to mind.
I'm rambling now, I know, but I'm just flabbergasted (best word ever) at how it feels like everyone on the extreme ends of political stuff (both sides) never even try to actually listen to each other.
I know politics in america and on the internet is garbo right now but I implore you not to be a centrist. Centrism assumes that there's some weird bland middle point between two opinions that must be more reasonable than either ends. Like if I proposed that we kill 10 kittens and you said to kill no kittens, is the centrist option to kill 5 kittens? Just reject that false dichotomy, be nonpartisan. Go for whatever you think is morally or ethically correct, I don't care. I might argue with you if I disagree, but I would hate for everyone to think exactly like me.
PewDiePie gets DMCA'ed for reciting his favourite rap song chorus
Appreciate that post. I don't consider myself a centrist either... more so non-labeled... like if I hear two sides on an issue, I may sway more toward a liberal mindset on the issue, a conservative mindset, or even a mix of the two. I just support whatever seems most reasonable to me. For example, I'll try to clarify my views on this whole PDP thing: What he said was wrong, because he's in the public eye and that's a big no-no for things like that when it comes to people in any shade of the limelight. If he'd said it in private out of frustration, not streaming? Who cares. If I sit here and repeatedly say "nigger" out loud, by myself, while typing this, who will it affect? No one. I see it that more time seems to be wasted talking about why something is bad rather than addressing how we, as a society, can take care of the real problems lying underneath. People get outraged over something like this because it's easier than doing something about a real issue related to racism. Why go and figure out how to solve something when you can get lucky and have your opinionated tweet showcased on a news site to boost the amount of people nodding their heads vehemently at your opinions? Know what I mean? I'm trying to explain it but I'm also tired as hell, lol.
Centrism isn't "only put 50% of babies in a woodchipper" that's a lazy overused strawman moral absolutists say. Nor is it just an excuse to act smugly superior to everyone as issues aren't always black and white. Centrism is just not faithfully adhering to either liberal or conservative ideology on various social and political issues and more evaluating each of the issues on a case by case basis. So some of their beliefs might be more liberal leaning and some might be more conservative leaning. And before one asks I am not a centrist (I usually score towards the middle of the "Libertarian Left" square on political compass quizzes), I just don't really like people on the far left and far right shitting on people who aren't as radical/extremist as them. Now are there people who take centrist positions for the sole purpose of acting smugly superior to non-centrists? Yes I won't deny that.

It's the same reason Keemstar used to shoehorn Pewdiepie's name or face in like every single one of his uploads, be it as a mention, a tag in the video, the title or just a misleading thumbnail.
