Well TB also said this regarding the H3H3 case.

i dont see how a LP suddenly becomes non transformative because your a little bitch
Ah.
I was trying to think of it from outside the perspective of an American of how someone from a foreign country, or at least a non-english speaking one, might view that word with less of a sting to it and might use it as a generic insult and whatnot. Not that Americans dont use the word as a generic insult in multiplayer to begin with, which is how i imagine he picked it up, but thinking about it from different angles to understand the intent is all.
The Swedish word more accurately translates to "negro". I mean, it's still bad but it doesn't really have the same punch and is therefore not used a whole lot. However, we all know how much weight the actual word "nigger" holds to a lot of people so it will obviously cause a reaction if said by a famous person.
This story will probably get some coverage over here and I think a lot of people not familiar with "gaming banter" will see him as racist because of it.
i dont see how a LP suddenly becomes non transformative because your a little bitch
He's arguing that LPs don't have a legal precedent to be protected from unfair DMCA, unlike critique with the H3H3 case. Not that they aren't transformative- just that they aren't legally acknowledged as transformative.
And try to sound less like an upset child...

Even taking that into consideration, i highly doubt that Pewdiepie would actually lose if he did go to court over it considering the raw stupidity that Vanaman decided to engage in.

It's still entirely possible he would. That's why people like TB and Nerd Cubed are freaking out. If this goes to court, this could set a positive or a VERY VERY negative precedent.
If this gets brought up to the wrong judge that doesn't understand, or that doesn't WANT to understand youtube, it could cause the case to go in favor of the DMCA'er and would set an awful legal precedent forever.

you know, when you try to criticize others sensitivities by throwing random insults, you just end up looking like, ironically, a crybaby
relax buddy

Theres a possibility, sure, but giving blanket permission to do something, then like a year after deciding to revoke it and DMCA after the fact purely out of spite, which you vocalize publicly, certainly wouldnt make for a good place to start for them.
Did he say it? Yes
Should he have said it? No
Did he apologize? Yes
Was it offensive? Yes
Should this have been blown so out of proportion? No
Does this mean he is racist? No

so pewdiepie should make a firewatch video where he goes absolutely crazy with editing and critique just to piss the game devs off.
internet video gamer says the nigger word and thousands of twitter users rush to their timelines to spew out their cookie cutter hot takes to rake in as many favs and RTs as they can before the next Thing™ happens

I'm on his side, if that's what your thinking.

Pewdiepie can just walk outside for an hour and get the same amount of content as a Firewatch LP.

Isn't that the guy who basically jerked H3H3 around for a while, dragging money out of them and actively fucking up their case until he was fired in favor of a proper attorney?
[editline]10th September 2017[/editline]
Ahh, apparently it was people from his firm, though I suppose not him specifically:
They changed lawyers because the people they had originally, which were from the same firm that Ryan Morrison (VideoGameAttorney) belongs to, were throwing the case away. The firm they hired then got their motion for summary judgment admitted within a few months. Sometimes it just makes sense to get better lawyers.

Words are defined by their usage, and so far "nigger" and "faggot" have had way more use as racist and homophobic insults
Guess we should use them more frequently as just generic insults then
I can't stop sniggering
I laughed so hard when he said it in the video. It's just so unexpected as opposed to what he usually does.
Don't care though. It's just a word and context matters.

If this is his response to hearing the word Nigger once, I kind of want to see a before and after of him watching this

How do I embed tweets lol? I think this is annoying to people who don't want to click on the link.

I'm sure it's some form of selection bias but damn gamedevs seem pretty thin skinned.

The idea of "neutralizing" a slur is such an absurd notion, even if it was ever suggested by someone who wasn't being disingenuous. Ignoring how unlikely it is any conscious effort to change a language is to work, slurs exist because as long as a the sentiment behind them exists, there's always going to be a word to express it. But by all means, keep explaining how comparing people who make you made in videogames to gays or black people is really a selfless effort to help gays or black people.
Copyright Attorney weighed in.

Hell, you can see it in effect with the term "Queer" having been neutralized and reclaimed.
is that what pewdiepie was doing? reclaiming the word? for who exactly?
[editline]10th September 2017[/editline]
there's a difference between "reclaiming" something and trivializing it
This is dumb on all sides but people who passingly say nigger are cringy af

People say hell and damn all the time now when it used to be bad enough to require fudged versions (heck, darn, etc).
Neutralizing slurs is a real phenomenon that's extremely easy to observe in linguistics.
