Welp, Mom went out and got the tint removed. Did not, as she initially said, get all the windows replaced. Sucks. Now all the windows are so bright... but at least we know the court won't give us crap.
Resurrection post. Can you repost a picture, cause the tint on the Eclipse I just posted in the photos of your car thread was fucking dark, and the tint on the BMW behind it is even darker. Every time I get pulled over they tell me the tint is illegal, but never give me a ticket. Pretty sure it's buuuulllshiiiiittt. I live in Alabama too.
You seem knowledgable. Could you tell me: When I look at the tinting certificate sticker, and it says "DOT 18", does that men 18% VLT as measured by the tinting company?
The dot numbers refer to the glazing material company used to make the window. They have certain guidelines the glass has to meet for the department of transportation. Each number represents a value on this database. Like Tempered glass for instance. It is made to shatter a certain way to protect the passengers. http://www.carwindshields.info/dot_db It also makes it simple to find replacement glass as we'll. Omgosh!!! How many pages back was this?
Just putting in my 2 cents worth, but I live in Wisconsin, Muskego to be exact. The cops here have SHIT to do and like to drive around to pull people over at random. If there is no reason to pull you over, they will find one. Anyway, I spent the night at my friends house and locked the keys in my truck. The Muskego cops will use a slim jim to open your door at no cost. I called them, they showed up, I signed a waiver saying that they weren't responsible if they fucked something up and he started. First thing he says, "You know, it's kind of hard to see with these illegally tinted windows...". There was a really awkward silence as I was generating some bullshit to feed him, I ended up saying that I just got the truck and it will be removed shortly. I wasn't given a ticket, probably because it didn't look like he thought it would be worth his time... Just depends on how much of a dick cops want to be.
im gonna put in my 2 cents and say this problem was 3 years ago
