That half guard is a fucking joke. Oh, and defending kicks with the palms of your hands... try that with shoes on.
The feet movement is just wrong too. he's just walking towards a cowering dude who just cowers at every move.
Also, they are both out of distance in every strike. I can understand that in a pupil. But in a sensei that is just ridiculous.
Wolfz, if that's the better you have in your area might as well do nothing. Search for other things outside when or if you have the possibility. Martial arts have much much more to offer than that.

Anyway, just found some video of FEKM in madrid with a demo of our training. I'm sorry for the music, but take a look:

Welp, not doing BJJ... $200 a month.. I'll just get my grandfather to teach me what he remembers from his jiu jitsu days and his Tai chi and call it a day, the Marines will teach me how to fight in 3 years.
Marines will teach you how to RNC, armbar, and clean a gun. Should just get a job and take the bjj classes.

JaegerMonster may be an asshole when it comes to his opinion but I have to give him that, He's right.
Although I had a very long period without any martial arts, your sensei lacks the basics in his techniques. I think I explained it earlier on by those videos.
I don't doubts his skills on the ground and yeah you work with what you've got. Although in Portugal the situation isn't as severe, I've been to some pretty poor gyms too and I know how people work hard there despite their flaws. At least it's not a macdojo. People there work with what they know and don't know more because they can't.
The problem is just those videos. they are a very poor demo and lack some basic components. But I don't judge you nor them.
Also, I was wrong earlier on when I said that knive and arms training were banned from martial arts. I got myself confused and I said some wrong things: we actually have training with knives, pistols and riffles (as melee weapons) further on, the only thing is around here the law doesn't look to kindly to that, even if it's in self defence.
I know karate, judo, aikido, wushu, And a bunch of other words like that too :3
I did Aikido.
It's relaxing. :v:

Nobody is hiring at 15, I either have to be 16 or I go get a job where I make $2 an hour because of their policy.

I'm sorry but your sensei is bad, his stance is garbage and it looks like he's just randomly throwing slaps around with terrible footwork, who the fuck jumps around like that.

They are not asshole. They are just letting you know that martial arts in Romania are not as developed as they are in other countries.
Your sensei is practically just lightly slapping a craven guy around. Even if he was swinging as hard as possible, I doubt there would be any damage due to bad footwork and upper body movement. (Note: I don't strike)
I hope one day you'll be able to leave Romania and see a real gym :)
u'r not winning the argument

I agree with you in everything, except you might want to rephrase that highlighted area. What do you know of the Martial Arts scene in Romania to make such HUGE unfair generalization.
As far as we all know that's just what's available in that particular area of Romania.
u'r not winning the argument
Hardly an argument when the majority of people here conclusively agree, that upon viewing video of said sensei as evidence, that he has no idea what he's doing.

and u are? what? random internet user ?! haha ! You must have black belt in 99 Martial arts styles, no?
and u are? what? random internet user ?! haha ! You must have black belt in 99 Martial arts styles, no?
No. I'm a humble bjjer that trains at a reputable gym that competes nation wide. I have no black belts.
As they say, the belt only protects 2 inches of your waist, you're responsible for the rest. And now and days having a bunch of blackbelts from various shitty martial arts doesn't really hold any weight.
Just like your sensei claiming to be a blackbelt grandmaster in light slapping and flick kicking-do-jitsu, it doesn't mean he's actually a good fighter lol!
and u are? what? random internet user ?! haha ! You must have black belt in 99 Martial arts styles, no?
Belts are unfortunately no longer a judge of someone's skills anymore, they're given out way too easily and they don't actually mean shit anymore, a skilled green belt could humiliate a long time black belt at this point honestly.
Case in point, your Sensei, he's a black belt and yet he has the absolute worst footwork I've seen in any martial artist that even claims himself to be a "Master" and his upper body movement are just ridiculous, even if he was to change these slaps into punches the damage they would do would be so minimal that they wouldn't be worth mentionning.
I can't even pinpoint the martial art he's even trying to teach.
Oh also, that guy he's sparring with, from the looks of it he's also a black belt and what the fuck is he doing, what are all these half-assed spins that he keeps doing for no real reason that does nothing but fuck him over, I assume he's been taught by said "Sensei".
The footwork isn't the worse. I understand how hard it must be to coordinate in that mattress.
The guard, is what scares me the most. Elbows completely resting tight against the body. No chance of defending a fast strike to the head that way.
Wolfz, I'm not trying to humiliate your sensei here. I bet you like the guy and he probably got taught that way. But if you want to learn martial arts search for something better.
Never had the chance of showing the kind of training we do in Krav Maga in a decent video. Once again, don't mind the music, it's kind of a habit since these are amateur videos.
There are some code infringements here but they are tolerable. (such as training in shorts). We usually don't have this kind of equipment at our gym but our exercises consist basically on this.
This IS krav maga, not that kung fu'ish comando shit you guys see flooding youtube.

Krav Maga right now is easily one of the best martial arts for actual combat/street fighting/self defense because they don't teach flashy bullshit, they teach techniques to disable your opponent.
Krav Maga is not a martial art. It's a defence system. But you're absolutely right.
The only thing that differs much from martial arts its the way you train there. In, for instance, MMA or boxing, people fight a lot in the ring to train for the matches. Krav Maga aims more on insisting pupils to do shadow boxing to enhance the fluidity of their moves. We give much more importance to the initial burst of attack to the enemy. The momentum. Because when it comes to self defence we consider the first strike to be the most important one.
We also strike to vulnerable points of the body, such as the back of the head, the joints (like in kick boxing, MMA, etc etc...), gauging eyes, damaging or breaking the throat, and specially the BALLS.
We actually have a couple of embarrassing moves to get grapples away from you by punching or twisting the opponents testicles so that you can escape the floor. And believe me, they just don't get off of you when you do that, they fucking jump away from you :v:
The only problem is you really really have to look hard for a trustworthy gym and coach. Otherwise you'll be just paying for a macdojo that boosts your ego so much that one day you might end up getting hurt on the streets.
Krav maga is not flashy at all, it's pretty simple actually and it really helps you keep in shape and it helps you with coordination. It consists in both fighting fast in closed and open quarters. So basically it is totally different than the stunts you see on youtube videos.
Also if anyone tells you it's quick to learn. It's false! Krav maga demands lots of training and coordination. You might get easily to yellow, maybe orange belt. But you won't get past that if you don't sweat blood and tears to improve further.
My only shame is that my local gym doesn't have as good material as in that gym of the video. We just have to make the best with our protective wear and those cushioned things the other person grabs so you can kick them (I don't know how you call them in english since I'm no english speaker -1 point for dojo vocabulary). However people from the EFKM are a big friendly community, and we like to aim for having a peaceful stance on the street and specially aiming for the sportive behaviour and leisure above all.
On the other hand. If you want to compete. To step on the ring, do a martial art and learn some sick shit, I would recomend that you do something else rather than Krav Maga first. For martial arts fanatics and people who like to fight I'd only recomend KM as something to complement their martial art or something to pursue further on.

anyway, I kinda left MMA this semester due to university. It's hard for me to train at the current schedule because it interferes with my studies. However, I found a really nice Capoeira dojo in my city and they train at night which is alright for me.
My cousin does Capoeira and it's really awesome to see the moves. They are both agile and powerful and it kinda attracted me. Now I'm not into that for kicking ass, but I want to improve myself to a new stage.
What do you guys think of Capoeira?
I know a little Jeet Kune Do, but I want MOAR. I also really wanna get into Krav Maga. Also once at a concert, while on shrooms (lol) a friend showed me a few moves from a fighting style, I think it was called Muay Thai, it was monkey style and I learned how to jump up and dislocate someones jaw with my knee, it was awesome, don't know if I'd ever use the technique though because it's so ridiculous. XD
