While I think your original argument is incorrect, I do agree that excessive political correctness is wrong.
News services for example, in order for them to be truly impartial they need to give facts. When they are unable to give certain facts or say certain things because of "political correctness" that's when it becomes a problem.
political correctness is a made up term, it's just used by people who want to seem more correct by creating the illusion that society somehow oppresses their opinion due to how right it is.
