"Metal can't be beautiful and 'epic'."
I promptly give them Sky is Mine by Amorphis.
"Movie music is shit, so boring."

People need to realise... music gives a whole new level of enjoyment to the movie. So in essence, people enjoy a LOT more genres than they realise they do.
That is true.
My friend shunned me for a day because I said System of a Down isn't very special. :v: Most the people I hang out with listen to the same bands all the time. Just popular rock and metal. Musical discussion with them isn't great.
This is why I love my friends, we all listen to different music but we're all open to other types of music and discussion about it.

The other day round my mates we were going to watch the Beatles musical thing Across the Universe (like Mamma Mia! but with Beatles music) and it was just way too cheesy and it kinda of ruined the songs so we stopped watching after about 20 minutes and put Help! on instead. Very funny film and good music :3

Do we happen to be the same person?
I discuss music alot with my friends, one of which makes Dubstep and metal at home (Really cool guy, very open to everything).
We often flick through the music channels just discussing what's good and what's not.
Music channels late at night always show good hip hop too, which is cool as even my friend who's not a keen hip hop fan would agree with me.

As far as music's going I think we're actually coming out of a period of really quite poor music, but pop music is slowly getting better I reckon.
I my self really don't listen to Dubstep that much, but every song my before mentioned friend suggests is really good in my ears.

I used to think dubstep was a poorly laid out genre because it really had no variety. But digging deeper you can see it's not just an invention for clubs. Some of it is quite creative.
Distance (My Demons, Twilight, Koncrete) is amazing.
Great ambient stuff right there.
I like dubstep, it's just the whole demographic it's now marketed towards are the douchiest motherfuckers I have ever dealt with.

Lol reminds me, I was doing theme music for a cabaret in school, and I had to play the harry potter theme like 15 times. I also played to every song that was played (Come Together, some love song, a swedish pop song) but I never sang or did a number myself.

And I did a jazz solo to What A Wonderful World in church when the school ended
What do you play MrJazzy?
What gets me is that lurkers don't want to post because they don't like what is posted here. They have issues.
What do you play MrJazzy?
Piano.
Ooh. Nice. I wish I could play piano, it's such a lovely instrument :buddy:
I hate it when people refer to modern pop as "RnB". It's not RnB. Bo Diddley is RnB. James Brown is RnB. Not fucking Black Eyed Peas

I love Across the Universe. They have some fantastic renditions of Beatles songs in there. Like Blackbird and Strawberry Fields. It's a bit cheesy but I think it's a great movie
I'm still not sure how the two came to have the same name.

Technically Rhythm and Blues and Contemporary R&B are very different, but the James Brown stuff is the parent genre.
R&B is pretty poor at the moment though.

Sorry what I meant was chart music and pop music in general. It seems to be moving to being more soulful, whether this is right or not I can't say, it just seems that way.

I haven't really paid attention.

That's what it was, it just seemed a bit too cheesy for my liking, I'm not a huge musical fan either which probably didn't help. Even my mate was turned off and he's a huge beatles fan.

As I do a fair amount of driving I spend alot of time listening to the radio.
Todays 'RnB' is more soul.
Todays 'RnB' is more soul.
When was RnB not soul?
But when I mean modern R&B I don't necessarily mean Aloe Blacc (Neo-Soul), I mean contemporary r&b stars which have been poor.
Janelle Monae is superb, but she's a big mixture of genres.
Well I mean that ever since the 70's RnB and Soul has been mixed up and now it's pretty much the same thing.

What's that got to do with music?

And I'd rather listen to Louis Armstrong than Metallica, sorry but that's just what I prefer.
