What do you mean? Ham has never been so right.
"Lyrics don't matter/Nobody gives a fuck about lyrics."
As a former lyricist and current "pseudo-poet" and lover of music, I hate these fuckers.
Sidenote:
Do you all think "talk music" is a good description of Dan Smith's band Listener?
He kind of self-named his style, so I'm just curious what your opinions are.
Here's a sample:

As you can see, there's too much instrumentation for them to be spoken word, but theres not really another good name for it.
who cares what it's called. it's good.

Great song! :o
"Bassists are just failed guitarists"
"Bassists are just failed guitarists"
That is correct.
In my opinion bassists are meant to be seen, not heard.

I guess I'm a failure then :(

But the music without bass just feels so... empty

My point exactly.
My point exactly.
I think it's more of a hint at your idiocy.
Bass is needed to give a background noise to almost all types of music. People treat drummers and bassists as if they're useless, when actually they're keeping the whole song together.
I have a good friend who has convinced himself that music is shit unless it is complex. When we're listening to music he'll pull the "oh, see, it's the same 3 chords over and over."

rofl
Chillax, I actually play the bass guitar. A few looks at my post history would have revealed that.
I was just posting for the sake of argument.
John Lennon was a cunt. What does that have to do with his music?
Sorry, should have explained a bit more. This is just like an irrational dislike sort of thing, where he refuses to listen to any John Lennon/Beatles songs, and walks out the room if they come on. I understand that John was a bit of a knobhead, but saying he deserved to be shot? A bit far in my opinion.

Do you really want to go in depth?
Here's my view, yes he's a great human being and he has a really strong personality and liked to talk. It's VERY clear in his music that he needed to get things out. Not so much in his later stuff, but with his first 2 records... parts of it were really shocking for "pop music" at the time.
Think about it nowadays. Could you see anyone make a song like "God" and not offend the majority of people?
It's a powerful song, but there are some negatives about the way he portrayed himself in public. It was as though the world surrounded only him, and only his personality was the right choice to make decisions about morality and peace and such.
Paul McCartney isn't innocent either, but Lennon knew he would spark hatred among folk.
Now I'm not sure if these are everyone's opinions, this is just me. I personally don't care, he's a cunt but that's a good thing.

Thats just an example of prejudice. Besides, saying anyone deserves to be shot is pretty awful as it is.

His controversial opinions didnt make him bad though, it was more the fact that at times in his life he was pretty nasty and bigoted. In writing 'baby you're a rich man' he dedicated it at first to brian epstein i believe, and the original lyrics were 'baby you're a rich fag jew'.

Sure, I don't actually think he's a bad person at all. He is who he is and I'm at peace with that. Even though he's passed away I'll still refer to him in that way.

I agree, Lennon tried to be controversial towards the end of the Beatles and the start of his solo career and was an absolute twat at times. My point was that the original remark came from someone who likes the manufactured bands being pumped out of shows such as the X Factor. Sorry my original post was so controversial and stupid.....
