No, we all die a slowly painful death as our skin melts away and our limbs starts falling apart
Earth has avoided be badly hurt by them for 4.6 billions years. Why are we going to die now?
Most third world countries have many problems with minimal technology and the people living there don't live very long because of that. Humanity needs these things, one way or another. It's called progress.
Again, there is a difference between "humanity" and "human life".
we can build box forts to shield ourselves.
quit fearmongering you stupid cunt, this isn't THAT bad.
Again, there is a difference between "humanity" and "human life".
Humans wont die immanently i'm sure, but as a whole we will suffer terribly and that is not what we need. I doubt that a solar flare will reach our tiny, little speck of dust floating around that towering inferno.
;22475243']Earth has avoided be badly hurt by them for 4.6 billions years. Why are we going to die now?
THIS. MOTHER FUCKING THIS. My God people shit themselves over such pointless things. It's like people don't know or just forgot that the world used to be a giant mass of lava and rock and that it has undergone countless mass extinction events and bounced back almost immediately. "omg global warming we're killin da world" Nah.
In 1859...
:what:
Newest threat? Um... these things have been around for billions of years. Kinda like a wee bit before we existed.
Yeah they're just going to slowly become more common over billions of years because of the sun becoming less stable from the depleting hydrogen, forcing it to fuse helium instead. As how I understand it, if someone wants to correct me, go ahead.

Solar flares slam the the Earth periodically, the last one caused a blackout on the East Coast a few decades back. That's not suffering terribly.

So I know that solar flares hit us a lot, i'm saying that one large enough would be very bad.
It's not like the solar flare will kill us all instantly if one hits.

"omg global warming we're killin da world" Nah.
The Earth has gone through a lot of shit in its history. It just so happens that we have only existed as a species (let alone as an organized civilization) for the smallest fraction of that time. We have depended on electronics for maybe 100 years at best and civilization has existed for only 6000 years. We've missed everything because we weren't around. Not to say that life-killing events just happen all the time though.
;22475243']Earth has avoided be badly hurt by them for 4.6 billions years. Why are we going to die now?
This. OP works at fox news
I find this laughably coincidental or eerily strange that this whole thing takes place very close to the date of the supposed death of the Earth. I'm a big fan of debunking 2012 myths, but I think just to be safe I'll spend my late 2012 with my family, friends, and those I feel close to. Just in case.
The world isn't going to end in 2012.
The Mayans thought that a gigantic cat destroyed the Earth before.
Bigger ones can penetrate more though
That's what she said. Bazinga! No but really I'll be in my bunker with a "Do Not Disturb" sign. Then I'll have to push a button every few hours so... Oh wait that's another story huh sorry.
What are the odds of an actual solar flare getting close enough to Earth to damage anything?
You have no idea how big a solar flare can get
You have no idea how big a solar flare can get
Not really, I never looked into it.
Oh no solar flares and 2012 and big holes in guatemala and the oil spill also the moon will crash into the earth 9/11 was an inside job vote palin.
we all die i saw it in movie
Oh no solar flares and 2012 and big holes in guatemala and the oil spill also the moon will crash into the earth 9/11 was an inside job vote palin.
2012 is already debunked, the Mayan calender use solar and lunar systems to create 3 self checking calenders and was more accurate then our Julian/Gregorian calender, to that extent, mayan 2012 was 2009-2011 I do not remember the exact year but it as already happened, so stop pulling out 2012 stuff. Secondly while it would hurt us in the short run to loss all technology it would not be that bad, America still has much of the manpower and old school tech to recreate critical systems in their most basic forms manually. The countries worst effected would be European ones due to their people per mile and the fact most of their countries have already been developed leaving little room for restructuring.
Since when was was a six billion year old danger news?
Discuss!!!!
Maybe it's because your an '10er, or because the site is called "www.gawks.com,"or because I just don't worry about doomsday, but my reaction is basically: Oh well. :munch:
