i bet somewhere in the future there will be electronic drugs. People will be implanted with a electronic device that is hooked up to the brain and will electrically stimulate parts of the brain to get certain effects. You will go to the doctor and he will download software onto your device giving you a dosage for however long needed. This software can be timed like a key, and will terminate when it reaches the end of the allowed uses. People will then tamper with these systems to generate their own keys or softwares to create new effects and in turn creating new highs. By experimenting on activating certain parts of the brain they can mimic the feelings from a cannabis high to a heroin high without the negative health effects of getting dirty drugs. Overdose may be possible if parts of the brain are over stimulated and turn into lesions. Eventually the hardware and software will become so precise that you can program your own hallucinations by activating parts of your visual memory or even by downloading other peoples memories, fantasies, or ideas. People will be able to create their own realities by using the software and will become like something out of fallout 3's vaults (the virtual reality pods). This electronic drug system would make for a good sci fi idea.
I woke up today feeling sick as fuck. Normally the problems people encounter from smoking weed are getting too high or having a panic attack. Me? I get high as shit before I go to bed and eat the whole kitchen and then wake up wondering why I feel awful.
