we learned to communicate BECAUSE of self awareness- which means it all started with self awareness. exactly what i said.
We learned to communicate because we desired to teach other humans knowledge that only we possessed. Self awareness doesn't come into it.
[editline]12:03AM[/editline]
that has to do with it having instincts which we no longer need. i've said this ten times, are you blind?
Oh, so we don't need to walk anymore is it?
Just so you guys remember:
-Were the only species that drinks milk from another animal
-Were the only species that declares war in the name of ____________.
-Majority of us believe in something that doesn't exist
-We don't kill for food... VERY often
-We look down upon rape despite being prevalent among some animal species
-Fetishes... REALLY strange ones at that
Feel free to expand upon this list

Could've also been achieved through genetic memory.

No Im not. Are you?
If not you may have noticed that my original statement was an ironic one ( Wiki that if you need to know what it means )
Quite simply sir, human infants lack much of the abilities animals have from birth. Regardless of weather we "need" these abilities or not is unimportant. Moreover, I believe, based on your posting pattern, that you are unwilling to concede any points regardless of how well i make them. As such I am cordially discontinuing this line of conversation.
Please ban this dumb troll, he's derailing the thread.
considering every one of your posts is calling me a nine year old or dumb i'd say you're a troll
but you DID suggest that. you said that was the only reason.
(which isn't true even if we did take into scale proportion of mass of gray matter to overall mass- for example, the brain stem of a human is more advanced and able to handle far more actions)
Point. That was an oversimplification.
But it was always intended to explain why HUMANS are smarter than CHIMPS and not, as you said, why humans AND chimps are smarter than most everything else, although I can see how people could get that from it

you're using every other word in this paragraph wrong, it's hard to understand you
-We don't kill for food... VERY often
Actually we created giant factories that kill thousands of animals a day
Just so you guys remember:

Tool use. In a sense.
Eh, we just declare wars for pettier reasons because the stakes are a lot lower in human society.
I'm sure animals would believe in something silly if the could go so far as to make up something so complicated.
Yes we do.
Not really. That's why mating rituals exists.
They don't have time for that shit I suppose.
The human brain is the only one intelligent enough (as far as we know) to study itself.

Stop acting silly and get back in your seat, you're disrupting class.
Seb stop being a tool or I will lay down tha law
Could've also been achieved through genetic memory.
Er, no. Not Quite.
This isn't Assassin's creed. Genetic memories are memories implanted into you via natural selection, sort of like specific OCD. More mundane personal memories aren't implanted into your sperm.
It's a good thing too or else you would have genetic memories of boning your mom
Humans in general are stupid but as the dominant species who can change that?
It's a good thing too or else you would have genetic memories of boning your mom
Yeah, but I'd also be some kind of super intelligence with a memory spanning hundreds of millions of years.
Of course, that knowledge would also come with the specification of all of my grandmother's fetishes. Eugghguehgghghghhhhhghgh.
Well I think we're pretty intelligent, and I will think that until ants build sky scrapers in my back yard.

We must've gotten each other wrong, sorry for the misunderstanding.
Basically what i was saying is that useful knowledge could possibly be inherited through genetic memory, such as how to do x or where to go and not to go etc.
Well I think we're pretty intelligent, and I will think that until ants build sky scrapers in my back yard.
Ants can be as, if not more intelligent than humans.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. No.
Not unless going to that specific place is a matter of life or death and therefor is affected by natural selection.
Ants can be as, if not more intelligent than humans.
How so?
I say if we're able to question if we're smart and not be able to come up with a definite yes without thinking about it, we're smart.
-We look down upon rape despite being prevalent among some animal species
It might just be because of how you worded this, but it sounds like you're criticizing humans for looking down on rape.
Our brains are bigger so yes
We're batshit insane
not sure about intelligent, but I'm pretty sure all the aliens in the galaxy are avoiding our planet like the goddamn plague
We have the biggest brain!
No.
compared to mine, no

not always a good thing
just because we have more gray matter doesn't mean we're smarter than them
...wow it really does
i know im late but damn this guy
Were da smartest speeces becuz god mad us dat way :downs:
