Don't move to Denmark, we're not allowed to carry any type of knife. At all.
Same in Sweden, I doubt anyone follows the law though. But it makes me feel safer to know that there is a law prohibiting knifes in public.
In knife-crazy Finland we can carry any knife with blade under 7 cm in lenght.
Another case of police abusing their power, the policeman should bloody know what weapons are legal and what aren't legal.
Most California police have no idea what CA legal AR-15s look like. They've even arrested people with CA legal AR-15s because it looked like an AW.

Why though? Criminals won't care at all.
Your badass..
Englishman here, I sometimes carry a Swiss Army Knife with me (again for outdoor purposes mainly, but it's handy around the house and in the garden too) like this, except with a phillips head screwdriver instead of a corkscrew:
[img_thumb]http://www.victorinox.com/medias/sys_master/celum_assets/8797947854878_1_3613_Bild2_1345_eps.jpg[/img_thumb]
(Right click, view. Thumb due to HUGE).
Luckily I haven't been called out on it yet. It does conform to all the rules in the UK (no locking blade, blade is <3") so I should be fine, but I could get in to 'trouble' for it if an overzealous cop finds me carrying it.

I don't know actually, only feels that way. Funny thing is that you can buy huge "tactical knifes" practically in any shopping center here in Sweden(used only to skin animals of course).
And yes, I've used my knife inside a movie theater. Fuck you gummy worms and your fucking impossible packaging making a terrible racket while I try to gain access to your gooey insides. Mmmm gummy worms.
you have to use a knife to open a bag of gummy worms?
jesus, are you like really weak or something..
you have to use a knife to open a bag of gummy worms?

Well, I'd use my knife If I brought one. Shit always open on the middle. If you don't handle it carefully enough, it'll split in two.
I'm really astounded that people don't see knives as tools. Knives are ones of the most useful tools you can have. It'd be one thing if it was a balisong or a switchblade or some stupid shit like that, but a traditional pocket knife will see use at least once a day.

Usual situation for knife carriers!
I live in Florid, police searched me as a 'Random Search" as I went to see "Finding Nemo" and I had exactly one of these in my pocket:
[img_thumb]http://nightfallindustries.com/images/pa0077tn-w.jpg[/img_thumb]
Got in scotfree. Then they arrested my older brother for having one of these:
[img_thumb]http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2370/2274372747_4bde8428cd.jpg[/img_thumb]
Same sort of bullshit.
I would love to see someone try to gut a deer or a skin a rabbit or scale a fish with a swiss army knife. The longest the blade can be on a pocket knife in my state is 3 inches. Longer fixed blade non-double edged knives may be carried in sheaths if they are hunting knives and meant for that use.
There is no distinction made about serrated or normal edges on the blade. A blade with both is very useful for hunting, fishing, and camping etc. A knife is a tool unless used like a weapon, knives are great tools, cutting back vines, whittling, marking a surface.
The knife parts of a swiss army knife have more uses then all the other specialized tools. How effective are 1/2 inches scissors or a can opener with a short handle?
I can't believe people are dumb enough to be on here attacking other people because they carry a knife because "it can be a weapon." What world do some of these people live in? I sometimes try to put myself in their mindset and only get a headache in the process. It's absolutely ignorant how some of you people are. "Why do you need a knife?" "Why do you need a gun for self defense?" "Why do you need this? Why do you need that?"
For one. I carry a knife. I have always carried a knife. To shank someone, right? Wrong. A knife is a TOOL. I have used it from cutting a seatbelt at an accident scene to cutting a piece of string while working on something. I carry a knife everyday at work. I have carried a knife on my person since I was eighteen. That's five years of me carrying a knife and. GASP. I have not managed to get the urge to stab someone yet.
But the way people act on here, I should have by now! It's impossible, I must be lying. Surely I must have shanked someone by now carrying a blade!
If I can't carry a knife. You can't carry a pen or pencil. Or your keys. Or have a cigarette lighter in your car. Those can all stab me, and the lighter can burn me! CAN'T HAVE THEM.
While we're at it. Let's just take your car away. You could most certainly get the urge to run me over with it. Because cars are bad and stupid. They can be weapons also!
Sheesh.
Why stop there? My hands can punch, slap, push, grab, and poke, they potentially make to be tactical weapons so off with them!
Don't move to Denmark, we're not allowed to carry any type of knife. At all.
Not even safety cutters? The blade barely comes out of the handle.
In Canada I wouldn't be able to carry any kind of folding or concealable knife, but I apparently am legally allowed to carry something like this:
[img_thumb]http://www.uberti.com/firearms/images/bowie_knife_lg.jpg[/img_thumb]
As long as it's clearly visible on my person. Given the nature of the public and police officers in general, one really doesn't want to test that law.
You would be facing the other end of the nightstick if you wear that knife in my neighborhood.
Your badass..
I don't think I'm badass, I think my uncle is more badass as he hunts deer by flinging spears. Compared to him, I'm a pussy with a rifle.

If you do get in "trouble", it'd be illegal to actually move you from custody and into a cell.

Knives were in fact one of the first tools to be used by mankind, then and now they were and are mainly tools (even in the military). Of course there are knives designed for combat, but even those ones do not see much action.

My typical situation as a knife carrier is the damned tight tape on boxes of varying sizes. I can't rip them off very easily and sometimes they snap which forces me to take hold of the remaining piece, the most efficient solution is to simply cut apart the tape.

Are you living in opposite land or am I? Around here balisongs are illegal "automatic" knives and multi-purpose tools are well just tools.

A hunting knife, pocket knife, and Swiss Army Knife makes to be a great combination in my opinion. It's a hard-earned luxury to have roasted pheasant breast and rabbit soup in the same trip.
