I tried FILD last night with no success. I had a fuck load of dreams but i couldn't write them down or it would have spoilt FILD.
i can never wake up in rem [editline]10th February 2011[/editline] told friends about lucid dreaming "OH YEAH I HAD ONE AFTER WATCHING INCEPTION"
Shut up. That was a good movie. And who are you to judge wether or not he lucid dreamed.
because he claimed that he was doing what he did in the dream in real life at the same time which made no sense at all seeing as SP would have kicked in also I haven't seen the movie and didn't say it was bad but I'm pretty sure watching a movie wouldn't give you a vivid lucid dream the day you watched it to make it worse he claimed he fucked my girlfriend in the dream [editline]10th February 2011[/editline] In other news, I just remembered another recurring dream I used to have, this was when I was 9-11ish back in primary school The school toilets had like the entrance, with the cubicles on the right, and the urinals on the left, and then there was like another 'room' with mirrors in it, but in my dream the mirror room had a huge spiral stairway which lead down to underground toilets which were the size of like 3 car parks and it was like a 'forbidden area'. I remember when I went down there in the dream, I got a feeling of "oh shit i'm not meant to be here". Then an elevator took me back up to the roof of the school where the dream would end. [editline]10th February 2011[/editline] attn anybody who's done VILD: do you have to wake up during REM for this method or not I can't figure it out I tried it without waking up in the night and it didn't work. I assumed it worked like MILD but with scenarios you think of in your mind instead of mantras
I tried to recommend lucid dreaming to some friends and they all thought it was lies. Their loss, I suppose. I always found it odd though how I can remember dreams from when I was really young better than I can actual real life events.
I've tested before what volume of audio will wake me up and have edited it so that it's a bit under that, but still loud enough to affect my dreams, so if I start hearing Big Ben chiming in my dream I'll know. [editline]9th February 2011[/editline] I'll also be setting my alarm for relatively early in the morning, so if it doesn't work then I may have another chance. Also, so I can get up early if I decide not to try again.
So I was dreaming, and my teacher was all like, "TEST TODAY", and I was all, "NO I DIDN'T STUDY!" then I heard a clock chime and I was like, "Wait, I'm dreaming?!" Then I bombed Russia.
Tried this, got scared shitless, went up and made me a sandwich.
Does being stressed stop dreams
So, if I set my alarm to wake me up in REM sleep would it ruin the possible lucidity if I had to reach over and turn the alarm off? Or should I try to find a way to have my alarm go off for a few minutes and then stop?

I dunno if that tiny movement is what caused it not to work for me.

I know this thread is mostly about dreams, but does anyone know good methods to fall asleep when not very sleepy; or perhaps sleep when very sleepy but just can't fall asleep? Tips would be appreciated.
Medicine is the way to happiness. [editline]10th February 2011[/editline] By that I mean get drugged off your ass
Well sleeping pills don't help when you need to get up in seven hours. (I'm a heavy sleeper as is.)
Well sleeping pills don't help when you need to get up in seven hours. (I'm a heavy sleeper as is.)
Don't do anything overly physical an hour or two before you go to bed. Don't eat a large supper. Just try to relax. If there's a heater in your room, turn it to a comfortable temperature. I find that after a long day being wrapped up in a warm room really makes me sleepy.

Made another mp3 track in the same vein as yesterday. This one has five and a half hours of silence followed by a loud techno song to wake me up, hopefully during REM sleep. This will eliminate the need to move at all as soon as I wake up, and if the song plays again, I'll already be awake for the morning by the time it gets to the song.
Does being stressed stop dreams
It can. Sometimes it just gives nightmares instead.
I don't have dreams, or well, I don't remember them. I go to sleep, it goes black for a few seconds, and I wake up. Shit sucks.
I had a rather weird dream last night. It was about how I had this sort of magic carpet that looked kind of like my dressing gown (it was blue, and looked like a dressing gown). I used it to fly around some city with some other people, which looked kind of familiar to the cities in Assassin's Creed 2, though with some heavy modern elements. (makes sense, since I was playing AC2 a lot several nights ago) At one stop-off point in some marketplace-like place, I somehow lost the Gown of Flight, and had to look around for it. Turns out a girl had acquired it though unorthodox means, and I reclaimed it. Then I caught sight of another girl who had a blonde mustache, and when I say a mustache I mean it was kinda bushy, slightly moreso than mine, and I was pretty surprised as I did not expect that. I made my apologies when she reacted, saying that I didn't intend to be so surprised, but upon retrospect I feel I should have congratulated her on such a fine mustache. At another stop-off, I somehow lost track of the other people I was with. So I followed some sort of minimap, only to find some alley with drums and stuff in it. Logically, my dad appeared (he's a drummer) and pointed out where the people where, which it turns out they were near a pub-like place near the alley. Anyone able to make any more sense outta this?
teacher starts telling class about REM sleep, sleep paralysis and lucid dreaming people were discussing in class and one girl was like "I saw my relative walk in but I was awake I think I'm magic" before the teacher can say anything "You were in sleep paralysis. It's like a living nightmare." [editline]12th February 2011[/editline] why does everybody else get to have biznasty dreams when mine are mundane with a rare oddity [editline]12th February 2011[/editline] Do you 100% NEED to be in REM to do WILD/FILD?
Yeah, when i tried it i had to reach over my head and turn it off. New goal. From dreamviews forums.
I want to lift an ocean, summon something to hold it up, go in under it, and release it. Could be fun?
A watery death awaits me in my next good lucid. [editline]12th February 2011[/editline] A good video. If you lack the willpower to practise lucid dreaming then watch all of this.
I always try and then I have nightmares about shit from Dead Space.

Friend: "A what?" "A dream where you know you're dreaming." "YEAH ALL THE TIME!" How does that work Also may do a project on lucid dreaming, we're gonna have to make a 20 slide power point about any subject we want.
Yeah, when talking to other people about LD's they more than likely act like idiots/misinformed people.

I think I already do have lucid dreams, often, I am laying there still dreaming, but i'm also aware of my surroundings, i can hear the outside world, and respond to it. I can also control my dreams. This happens without me practicing, and it happens every other night or so. Is it possible I just naturally have lucid dreams?
some people are super good at it, dunno why. sometimes it comes completely naturally.
okay now that zin's been revived from being AFK: Do you HAVE to be in REM to do WILD/FILD
