god damn i got stuck in something this morning. I was stuck between being asleep and awake, I could move but I couldn't see my hands. I could feel them though. Really weird.
Last two nights I've failed at WBTB. First night, I hit my alarm (which went off at 3:15) and rolled over and thought, "No, I need to get up," so I rolled back over and it was 6:24. Then last night I watched Donnie Darko on my iPod through Netflix and slept right through the alarm.
Tonight I'mma go to bed at a reasonable time and try it again. Also, has anyone tried the Ramp thing?
I think so, yeah. Never tried though. But if you can imagine them, you can create them. If you can remember a memory well, you can surely "visit" it.
Is it possible to do stuff in these memories.
Like say do something different than what actually happened whilst in them?
I tried FILD again last night. I started falling into mini-dreams. K was in one of them. He was a very fat teacher in a stereotypical classroom. I recognized him and was all like haHAA I caught your clever disguise! And Im still half awake, genius!
His face contorted into a coolface and said "or ARE you?" at which point I either fell asleep or lost whatever lucidity I had at the moment and forgot the rest.
Oh you trolley sub you.
[editline]16th February 2011[/editline]
Oh thats right, he was gabe newell dressed as a teacher.
DAMN YOU GABEN
I've really got to get this lucid dreaming thing down. Not a single one yet D:
I have't posted in this thread for a while. My last post was like 100 pages back. But anyways
TWO FUCKING LUCIDS IN THE SAME FUCKING NIGHT.
I didn't really do much interesting stuff, besides spawn a car and convince people in my dream that they were dreaming. And I summoned my subconcious. And let me tell you, that guy is a fucking bro. As soon as I made him, he's like "Sup bro." and then we did an awesome secret handshake. He looked exactly like me, except he was wearing a red shirt, and I was wearing a blue one. Which I think symbolizes that he was very much like me, but also my opposite. Like yin-yang. All together I've had 7 lucid dreams since I read the OP a few months back. And the best method by far is FILD. The first time I used that I had a lucid. And it's worked almost every other time I've used it as well, giving me a lucid/non-lucid radio of 3/5. Which is badass. And for fuck's sake, it's so easy!
What is FILD?
Food-Induced LD?
This was the topic I always lurked before I joined Facepunch. I've had about three lucid dreams by accidents ever since I started thinking about LDing a lot. I've stopped recently, but after being recently asked to do a senior thesis I figured out what I'm going to do. Write about lucid dreaming!
I was thinking about making Facepunch one of my sources and I'd love for some help from you guys. It's not due in a few months so I have more than enough time to get to know most of you and make some friends. Thanks S&D thread.
What is FILD?

Finger Induced Lucid Dream
You wake up during the middle of a sleep (kind of like a DEILD), but when you go lay back down, feeling exhausted, you do small movements with your fingers (twitching, pressing, etc) to induce sleep paralysis and try to get back into a dream. It also keeps you conscious or so I've read. Sounds pretty interesting. So after you have a lucid dream and wake up early you can try this technique to get back into another one or the same one!
You think thats bad?
Anyone remember my story?
I imagine my subconsciousness behind me. I turn around.
There is a fucking plank behind me.
I remove it and try again.
ANOTHER FUCKING PLANK c
And it wasn't this guy.

haha, i love edd ed n eddy :3:
You mean hypnagogic images? Ignore them. Takes practise because of how real they look, but just ignore them.
How? To me, they're like dreams, but then I snap out of them accidentally
[editline]17th February 2011[/editline]
I go to sleep at 11PM and wake up at 7PM in the morning, at 8:20 I go out to class. What method is best for me, because WILD and WBTB have failed me even in the holidays when I had more time.
Is it possible to view your memories in your dreams somehow?
Yeah.
Sometimes, peoples you've never met in a long time will appear in your dreams. Same goes with every other type of memory you've had.

Crap, how did i not see there was a page 113
Is an accelerated heart rate a sign of coming close to sleep paralysis because my heart rate went beserk last night because I felt that something was right above my face and I shat a brick

Do you have to wake up in REM for this
Woah, woah, what the hell. I can't tell if I had a lucid dream or not, but I think I was aware that I'm in a dream. It's kind of strange but I remember lots of different stuff.
First of all there were these small stairs which led up to a door. I tried not to get too excited, so I just imagined that there will be the same room after this door, so it was. Then I tried to change the location and I think I might woken up and then suddenly closed my eyes to get back to sleep again.
I was in some kind of desert with lots of rocks. There were those monsters from Serious Sam walking around (Since I replayed it yesterday) and fighting each other. I can barely remember what else was there, I think I couldn't move. I might also wake up after that too, I don't remember.
Next, it was all fucked up, I was spectating two Steve Coogans talking to each other in a purple room sitting at an oval table. What the fuck.
But before sleeping I tried MILD, saying "I'll remember my dream" since I usually don't.
Intresting fact, the only time i can sleep on my back (i.e facing up) is when im practically asleep getting into bed.
Also, this way, i have a much higher chance of gaining lucidity.
ugh I used some iPod app that tells you you're in a dream for the last 2 hours of your sleep and I woke up because of it
ironic
Had a dream in gmod. I was on an rp server, only instead of just being able to walk around, I could control my legs and arms individually. It was hella fun. I found a segway and started doing backflips and awesome shit.
holy shit
segway dreams
why hasn't anybody mentioned this yet
such a genius idea must not go untouched
[editline]17th February 2011[/editline]
i can't think of anything
[editline]17th February 2011[/editline]
i should probably stop peppering zin with questions
anybody feel like answering some
Is an accelerated heart rate a sign of coming close to sleep paralysis because my heart rate went beserk last night because I felt that something was right above my face and I shat a brick
Did your heart race before of after you thought you felt a presence? If before, it could have been a random palpitation which your semi-conscious self registered and linked to fear (an obvious cause of an elevated heart rate) which then caused you to believe there was something scary lurking close by. If afterwards, it was obviously fear. I'd guess that the first was more likely, and no doubt something that could easily be caused by coming close to sleep paralysis. That you sensed that presence at all was probably the beginnings of hallucination.
Do you have to wake up in REM for this
Nope, FILD can be done at any time, though I guess that if you do wake for it, it will be easier to transition into it. If you focus on it with a wholly aware mind, as you would be when first going to bed, it could be that you can't allow your mind to sleep AND think about moving your fingers, and will end up keeping yourself awake.

I think the heart rate and then the fear. I had a rough idea of whatever I thought it was in my head, sort of like a black-colored person.

I suppose FILD works a lot better when you're piss tired.
So, my subconcious tried to kill me last night, anyone wanna hear?
yeah

So it started as a normal lucid dream, and I had made a flying car to pilot my subconscious and me around. He's always been a bit of a prankster and I expected him to do something weird soon, so I asked, "What crazy thing do you have planned this time?" and suddenly the door to my side of the car is gone. I looked back at him and he grabbed my neck and pushed me out of the doorway. Now he was in the driver's seat, one hand on the wheel and the other choking me several miles above ground.*
I closed my eyes and I was on a beach when I opened them, and I started looking wildly around for my sub (nicknamed Jack), who was nowhere in sight. "Looking for me?" I heard behind me, when Jack pit his foot in front of mine and pushed me in the back, into the sand. I flipped onto my back and swept his legs from under him, and as he tried to regain his composure I dropped on top of him and held his neck, saying "Stop. Stop now, Jack."*
This was the moment I began to feel my heart racing, and became aware of the rumbling beginning from everywhere in my world. To try to stop the collapse I buried my hand into the sand, and repeated "I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm fine," and as soon as the rumbling stopped Jack rolled on top of me and began choking me again saying, "What, why you wanna stay with me, huh?"
Next I transported us to the rim of a volcano (I can remember diving in with Jack and flying out at the last second) but now I had him over the rim. He gave me the sorriest look he could and said "I was just kiddin' man, calm down, just a joke," before punching me in the face, knocking me back. Somehow he prevented his fall and began strolling casually to me while I got back on my feet, and when he got close we just began hitting each other over and over, punch after punch after punch, until I got him close enough to the rim that I could tackle him into the lava below. I felt the heat beat against my face, and Jack said, "Well, see you tomorrow, buddy!" and I was sitting up in my bed, sweating.*

Woah dude, you have some serious self-esteem problems I think. Getting attacked by your subconciousness is not cool.

Funny thing is I don't have self esteem problems at all. I have no idea what happened. . . .
if I were you I would have punched him in the face whilst you were still hanging out of the sky car
Definitely gonna ask what the fuck is going on next time. If it's some bullshit reason I'm gonna be pissed.
Maybe there's a problem that you've put behind or haven't thought about in your life?
Hey, guys, typing from an iPod in my bed. I'm trying to do FILD but after some time my fingers hurt like fuck and a have to stop and then start all over again. Suggest something, please? Before I'm asleep already. :frown:
Maybe there's a problem that you've put behind or haven't thought about in your life?
Well I'm thinking it may have been because I found out about a science project that was due a week ago and I had too waste my whole day working on it. May have been it because I kept kicking myself all day for it. Not sure if that could be a reason though.
