bullshit
you might as well say that if you flip a coin some magical spirit controls what it lands on
Whenever I look at the sky in dreams, I often see a patch of stars ambling across the sky. Like, slower than a meteorite streak, but fast enough that if you don't alert people to it within about 10 seconds, they'll be over the horizon.
It's the weirdest, most oddly affecting thing.
I really need to keep a dream journal, but I can't write at any reasonable speed :geno:
[editline]16th March 2011[/editline]
At least it's not like IRL, where I once saw a patch of stars shaped like a sea horse, but only out of the corner of my eye :ohdear:
Today I was able to remember my dream with a lot of detail, so, here goes:
I was in some sort of place far away from home, but still in my city, and I'm pretty sure I went there by bus.
I arrived there at some Ikea-furniture-ridden cave, but it was a nice cave (I had been talking about The Hobbit before going to bed). In there I realized I was in eBay, there even was a search bar in it. But I guess I knew it was only a fan-fiction eBay. So, of course, I searched Lena Meyer-Landrut. I found a fanfic that apparently also involved Draco and Hagrid (I don't know how fanfic got in my head). I wanted to read it, but unfortunately it cost 3$, which I didn't have.
So, I leave the place, and suddenly there's a huge crowd outside (which is still in the building, just out of the fanfic eBay cave thing), and I hear some music, which I can only guess was supposed to be Lena's music in Eurovision, even though I've never heard it (because I purposefullly try to avoid everything to do with her, as my heart breaks when I see her... She's so close and yet so far).
Anyway, on with the story, I catch her apparently singing on some big screen and she just pulls her shirt up and shows her boobs. Then I'm listening to some speech that her dad (who looked a lot like the dad in Good Bye, Lenin! which I watched yesterday) is making where he says that learning a new language is useful for picking up girls, and to buy chinese newspapers for some reason. I decided that buying Der Spiegel was enough to practice my German.
The End.
I don't know what that means. Help me
I have disovered that the snooze button can be very useful for small LD's. I set my alarm early today, idk why, but I woke up and was like "Aww dude Im fuckin tired its sleep time"and hit snooze. My alarm has a 6 minute snooze, so I woke up then and remembered a short dream I had during the 6 minutes. I was still tired and hit snoze again. Another dream. The third time I hit snooze I was still half asleep and decided to have an LD to stop in and check on K. I layed down and started daydreaming in the last dream I had, and I fell asleep and it went lucid. We had a little conversation, then K told me the alarm is going to ring in a few seconds. We said goodbye and see ya next time and all that and then Just when he predicted, the alarm went off and I woke up and started my day.
K really likes our internal clock.
He has referred to himself as "The Keeper of Internal Time" In a big echoing voice and a flava flave clock around his neck. Whenever I look at it, its blurry and I cant tell the time, though I have no doubt it shows the real life time.
Cool toy.
Well, this morning was weird. My alarm went off this morning, and I decided to continue laying there, since I was still tired. I figured I wouldn't get to sleep if the alarm was still going, but I'm not sure if that was the case or not... anyways, after that I got to thinking about that whole 'sleep-obsessed part of my brain' thing. I decided to pretty much walk and see where my legs took me (again, to test my sub's ability to override that), but I ended up in bed again. After deciding to sleep in a better bed (it was empty, and it isn't normally) I made myself promise I would go only until 8:05 (so that I'd have 15 minutes to walk to my class at 9), but a few minutes passed between then and when I actually made it to the bed, so I decided 8:10 would be alright. Then I think 8:15... I slipped into a lucid dream where I was in a car that was driving itself through the countryside. When I realized I was lucid, I stabilized it some, then thought to myself "Wait, I'm not supposed to be sleeping. What if I'm late for class?", but then decided that it wouldn't take too long, and it'd be a wasted opportunity. So I picked up a guy I knew of in school from 5 years ago and told him to drive me through my mind, figuring the car would be more reliable with a person behind the wheel. Of course, he sat on the passenger side. Then all of a sudden, there was a big cloud of mist we were driving through, and since the window was open a little, drops started hitting my face. I tried shutting it, but it was acting wonky. Eventually I woke up, checked the clock, and it was 8:35, and I was like "DICKS" and got ready to go, went, and was 5 minutes late.
As far as I can tell, my sub manifested as the mist to get me up, since it was never really in favor of going back to bed anyways.
So yeah, pretty cool.
Oh, and there's a 'dream group' starting up at my school, so I'm totally joining. Evidently it's to discuss dreams and dreaming, and even share the occasional personal experience. I'm looking forward to mine... :D

damn thats a freaking good idea.
I know theres other LD'ers in my school, but they kinda prefer to keep to themselves about their own dreams and shit. So do I, just not on the forum that got me into it.
Had another talk with my subconscious last night, in a WILD. This time he was a cat instead of a seagull. A couple things:
1) After viewing a bunch of incredibly detailed book and DVD covers created by my brain, I asked him if he was able to boost my skills to draw that stuff in real life, he said no. Asked it three times and always no.
2) I asked him how much 1 dream minute is in real life. He said "1 minute in a dream equals 6 minutes in real life". No idea how true that is but that's what it answered.
I then ended the dream by making a passenger jet crash into my neighbor's house. Started fading and found myself awake.
clock's probably blurry because you don't know the EXACT time, you just have a general idea. internal clocks aren't always perfect.
bluh i haven't really focused on this recently
it's been almost a year now and i've only had ONE ld

more or less, yeah. i've timed it.
it depends, though. six minutes in a dream to one minute in real life only holds if you're trying to emulate real life, otherwise it can be months or anything you want it to be, because your brain is capable of working at any speed it wants.

Apparently if it works faster it wakes up easier.
I dreamt that I went and bought myself a new belt buckle,
which was pretty much a picture frame. So you could put another photo in it whenever you wanted a change.
I'm really in a jam here.
I have terrible dream recollection right now. I decided I would force myself to start a dream journal, because I'm tired of my dream-self's wimpy dream-fitness. (Stuff like how clear dreams are, how well I can remember them, how easily I can go lucid)
Right now, the very few dreams I have between the screaming darkness are extremely blurry, like when you're so tired you fall asleep every five seconds, except on the flip side.
Last night, all I saw was darkness. I had zero dream recollection when I woke up. It's pretty hard to keep a dream journal without dreams.
Do you think my subconscious doesn't want me to meet them? From the night I started reading this thread, my dream recollection has almost disappeared.
I guess your sub must be pretty messed up when your nightmares are about chairs that are portals to hell, and museums with killer exhibits.
[editline]17th March 2011[/editline]
When I had the chair nightmare, I woke up screaming and crying. It was pretty bad.
New dream goal.
Blast into the air Neo style with a huge shockwave, land in Libya and punch Gaddafi in the face.
Hoping to accomplish it in under a week.
I had a beastly dream last night. Since I had school, I don't remember much though. I was in this club/penthouse type thing, with some friends, and some random guy came up to me (My dream logic made me know him automatically even though I've never seen him in real life) and handed me an envelope. I opened it up, and there were some pictures of North Africa during WWII. Suddenly, I got sucked into one. I was in a deserted town with sand everywhere, when a truck with the Iron Cross turned around a corner. I hid behind a wall, and this German officer opened the door and walked out. He turned around and looked at this intersection that was perpendicular to the street I was on. Suddenly, I heard a rumbling noise. It got louder and louder. It was accompanied by metal creaks and clanks. Soon, this HUGE FUCKING PANZER TANK, about 50 feet tall slowly drove across making a shitload of noise. I was amazed and scared at the same time. There were a few more scenarios, and some more at the club, but I forget.
I know that one of the first things I want to do when I finally successfully go lucid is to travel with Doctor Who. Should be fun, traveling space and time.

...well, uh, that's.... not awesome.
I guess the only thing I can suggest is trying to figure out why your sub wouldn't want you to become lucid. If there's nothing you can think of, you might at least try asking. Maybe it'd let you get that far, since if its goal is to keep you from LDing, then giving a reason for it would be in its own best interest, regardless of the irony of employing an LD to stop your LDing.
I mean, it sometimes happens that I have an LD then forget it if my sub doesn't want me to remember. By this point though, I can pretty much guess why it happens, and I happen to agree with the reasoning, so I guess it's a moot point.
If you disagree with the reasoning, you could cautiously try to reason with your sub, key word being cautiously. Mind-rape is not fun.
Of course, before any of that, it'd probably be better to try figuring things out outside the dream-world. You might be able to sort of just mentally hold a conversation with your sub, and talk for both sides. What you say 'as' your sub should start mirroring its hypothetical responses, and if it doesn't you might still get your sub to tell you you're misrepresenting it, in which case you can just hold the talk from there. Of course, that probably only happened with me because my sub likes being meta... yeah, I guess my experience probably isn't representative of most people, but you never know until you try, right?
Hope this helps anyways
can someone please explain to my why my dreams are hyper-vivid (and much more memorable) if I go to sleep using tylenol pm? i've just started to use it and i had a dream last night in which I was suffocating and it was incredibly disturbing and it was as vivid as the dreams that I used to have when I would try lucid dreaming.
I think i had my first lucid dream last night which was strange considering i gave up on trying 5 weeks ago
anyway i was in a conversation with someone and i just said "the only problem is is that I'm dreaming" and i pointed to the horizon and made a city appear in the distance then i woke up
I tried to talk to my sub, mentally.
I asked if he could appear, and after a few more times, I actually saw a slick 50s business man appear in my minds eye. I decided to ask him if he could see if he could help me improve my dream recall and ability to lucid dream, and maybe if he could try to cheer up once in a while.
He began rapidly jumping between doing the robot and sitting down.
No dreams :saddowns:

Close call last night. Had one false awakening and two failed WILD attempts where I woke up mid-transition.
False awakening being, I woke up at night, wrote in my dream journal and then woke up again. Had to rewrite it all and let out a disgruntled "ugh".
My dad's typical sleep.
This is what he says out loud outside of the dream:
"Yoou"
"Yess, yoou!!"
"FUCK YOU!!"
*Random spazzes outside of the dream, "thruster arms" and "thruster legs" that makes the entire family wake up.*
Oh cool, Zin has returned to his thread.
Anyways, I had a big long dream last night. I pretty much lived out Resident Evil but with a different storyline. Zombies, Cultists, Satanic beings, Apacolypse, I think it was meant to be a nightmare, but it ended up soooooo fun.
Dream statrs out, I am alone in an underground researcch facility. The power is failing and the plce is trashed. The occasional zombie finds me and I beat it to death with any blunt object I can find. Good thing I remembered to go for the head/neck. I come across a small group of people. They are wary at first, but they decide to let me stick with them. They say there is a secret exit and we are trying to get there. Along the way we find some new weapons. I take a 9mm pistol off a dead security gaurd, some other poeple find some shotguns, and I find a kind of holy version of the godkiller from drive angry, and it has candle flames at the tip of each barrel that never go out. I gave it to the hot chick who seemed to bu the leader. We fought our way through countless zombies and I find a kind of holy crossbow thing, but without the arm things on the side. The tip of the crossbow bolt had a candle flame on it that never went out. We finally found the secret exit and escape into an old diner. We look through the windows and see a barren wasteland that can only remind you of DOOM. There are huge thundering footsteps outside. We see a towering monster covered in pentograms with a big hammer. It looks down and we are all paralyzed in fear. It says something like "they all charge me and their weapons are useless" then clouds of bats come flying in and areflying around. The giant swings his hammer down and smashes the diner away while we are still standing there. Someone says "Run or shoot?" someone else answers "BOTH". I run towards the giant and fire the crossbow. It flies up, nailing a few bats, and smoked the giant in the lower jaw. The bolt goes up through his head and it screams something like "EEREHRHRH THE BLESSED WEAPONS OF ADGSHFJASFH" and falls over dead.
We get to a town where the main entrance to the underground facility is. I tell the others to go ahead; I want to drive my truck for one last time. They go ahead, and I walk to my car. The sun is coming up, and I start driving. I see a black jeep full of tough guys and I wave. I hear them say "should we give him a present?" "yeah". I look over and they all have RPG's. I floor it and drive the other way. I see a small truck full of ammo and guns. I shoot at it a few times and it explodes, running into two buildings they were using as an armory. BBOBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMM a fantastic explosion. I get out of the car and see most of my group has entered a small secret entrance into an underground bunker. Me and the hot leader chick sit down and watch the sunset and have a discussion about something I cant remember. We walk over to the entrance and hear screaming. We look down and one of the guys in our group (he looked like a mix between luis and odessa) was wedged up against a wall by wet cement that was slowly oozing out. He told us that they have unleashed a horrible being and tells us to run before he gets out. The concrete swells around him and drowns him. The concrete then swells up and out of the secret entrance and a man with no skin walks out of the concrete. There is a long battle and The chick yells at me to run while she holds him off. I do. I know it seems a little cowardly, but she was already bitten and would be a zombie soon anyways.
I get to a port town where many people are trying to get away on the ships, but the cultists had taken over and were only letting special people on the ships. I found the cult's secret hideout and ask to get on the ships. The leader says no, unless I could bring the concrete skinless demon to her. I was like AW HELL NO and walked out. Later, zombies had pretty much taken over the city and I decided to let in and take the cultist leader (tall older lady) to the town where I saw the demon last. He wasnt there any more, but the lady had a blast looking through all the wrecked stuff. I snuck away and went back the the cultist hideout. I spoke to the leaders assistant and he said he could probably get me on one of the ships. He gave me a big bets with old timey bolts on it. He named the bolts "metal, metal, artillery shell, toaster". He took me to a place where other cultists were collecting people based on what there bolts were named. I didnt get on, but I found the cultist leader there and she told me I was very special because I had fought two demons and survived. She let me on. I was going to the ship, but I blacked out and when I woke up everyone was dead, except for a group of people who were trying to wake me up. We were in a junkyard and I asked one person how to hotwire cars. He told me, and we hotwired a truck. We were driving up to the rest of the group when one of the people got mad at us for stealing a truck and told us it was wrong. He got mad and hit me with a frying pan and I blacked out agin. When I woke up there was nobody there. I found the last ship and got on. The cultist assistant was there and I asked where the others were. He looked at me and said "Dont you get it? We are the only ones left."
Then I woke up.
I have a question about WILD. After I have woke up and I am laying there, do I close my eyes or do I leave them open and try to remain conscious.
I have a question about WILD. After I have woke up and I am laying there, do I close my eyes or do I leave them open and try to remain conscious.
you shouldn't be awake if you're wilding, I assume you mean WBTB. Either way, the answer is close your eyes, generally.
I tried talking to my sub again, but without using my mind's eye. I asked him if he could talk, and I heard an ethereal "no". I started talking to him, and asking him questions. He's a pretty cool guy.
Here are some questions I've asked:
Q: What do you think of jake's sub?
A: I'd do her.
Q: Am I really talking to my subconscious, or am I just imagining two voices in my head?
A: How should I know? I'm just a voice in your head, as far as you're concerned.
Q: Why can I do to improve my dream recall?
A: Keep feeding me B6 and we'll talk.
Anyone want to ask them a question?
I had another dream about weird skies.
I was at a party and I saw five moons in the sky, locked in a chaotic gravitational dance. I pointed it out to some other people and they were like "oh yeah, that's really cool!"
Then later I saw two moons doing the same thing. I had a look through some binoculars and could see them both quite clearly. Then I saw them turn orange. Then they turned into miniature suns, and hurtled towards me and my friend, and we both kind of just accepted our fate and instantly died in what I can only assume was a deluge of atomic fire.
Anyone ever dreamed of falling? I've often woke up grabbing on to something like I've just feel back, freaky feeling, haven't had it recently through.
I once had dream where my brother took some pie from me, so I punched him in the face.
I abruptly woke up with my fist in pain and against my wall.
