It's impossible to teach. You just kind of have to...know it. I don't know how I do, I just do. My brain just operates in exactly the right way, I guess. I can't be specific, obviously. All I can tell from that picture (I forgot whose it was) is that they had a pretty okay childhood, all things considered. Few bumps along the way. I'm guessing three or four things happened to him, but I have no idea.

I'm guessing you moved when you were a kid. Probably more than twice.
Dog died. (Cat?)
I really don't want to go there, but it's a possibility. Parents divorced?
Other than that, seemed okay. (Note that I have no fucking idea what I'm talking about, never tried that before. Just a shot in the dark.)
All things right 'cept the divorce. Though my sister did move out.
I had a lucid dream this morning and I was wondering if anyone had tips on remaining in a dream or staying lucid? I'd fallen asleep around 12:40-12:50 ish AM, went through sleep paralysis (which was terrifying, but I got through it), and almost instantly...
This is going to be the hardest part for me to begin lucid dreaming. Last night, I was very close to going into the deep part of sleeping (the name escapes me). I could feel my body tingle as I went numb and the random twitches my muscles went through, but it's the mental part I need to take control of. I just feel terrified because of a past experience I had where I woke up in SP and couldn't breathe or move. I had to tell myself to breathe about 5 times before I could gain control of my body. I'm not sure if I really couldn't breathe or it was just in my head, but it scared me to death. Also, Zin that's a pretty amazing. The fact that you can "read" someone's past using a drawing. That drawing, Jimmg, was it drawn subconsciously? Was it in your dream you saw it or drew it? Were you sleep walking? Sorry for all the questions. You don't have to answer them, I just find that amazing. Amazing because of how the human mind can "hide" such complex, deep thoughts into simple drawings that can translated by others. Speaking of the subconscious, how are you guys talking to your subconscious? I read the first post and I pretty much shit bricks when jake said he talks to his subconscious. I was even more surprised when I read that even more of you can do this! Can someone help explain this a little better for me? Sorry for the two tl;dr posts, but I want them to hold some weight to them being my first two on Facepunch. (I'm making it sound like it's some sort of prestigious place to be, lol.)
All things right 'cept the divorce. Though my sister did move out.
Damn. I was close. I figured it was a traumatic event (at least for you) that had to do with your family. But hey, at least your parents aren't divorced.
A couple nights ago I had my most successful lucid dream. I was in my bed and I did a reality check and found out I was dreaming. Then I went to some sort of bar/club down the road and I wanted to play on the stage that was there but Micheal Jackson was preforming so I went to a restaurant that was next to the club for a couple of minutes. Then I went back and played a song on guitar with a band. I forget how the song went, but I was pretty good and the audience liked it.
quote the question you're referring to, i don't want to look for it

Ugh, does anyone else ever have sort of... this is hard to describe... really indisinct dreams where your mind races and thoughts just sort of overload? It's like mock-dreaming or something. It only ever happens to me when I either have been finding it hard to sleep, or have woken up then tried to go back to sleep, but it's really weird, because it's a sort of a weird between-sleep thing. I'm not sure if I even go into SP or not, some are more immersible than others >.<

This has been happening to me for a while. Pretty strong lately. I woke up yesterday and has such amazing self confidence, I said to my self: Fuck this Ima go daydream a lucid dream. I ended up doing three of them. The third one, I was getting bored and summoned my sub. A chick appeared in front of me (my pastor's daughter :P) and I asked her "are you my sub?" she said yes. The strange forced dream then started to collapse and as everything faded away, I said "If you are really my subconscious, promise to give my a ludic dream next time I sleep. She said yes. That was my test. Last night, I didnt specifically remember going lucid, but she was in 2 out of 3 (maybe all three) of my dreams. Right now I'm almost certain that she is my sub. Through the forced daydream part, I could still control my body, but didnt chose to. It was like I was telling my body to do something, but holding back.
unrelated: I heard some friends talking about lucid dreams last period. I turned around with my trollface on and said: orly? more like: OOORRRRRRRRLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYY? they stared at me for 10 seconds then said: what the fuck man? [editline]03:12PM[/editline] I OWN PAGE 32 MUAHAHAHAHAHAAA. /caps
Had a dream when I was napping. I got lucid, was fucking awsome. The wierd thing was the place around me changed so much without me wanting it. Like one thing I know I am on a road and the next I am in a classroom. Why does that happen ? Is it my sub? I forgot to summon my sub damn. Holy fuck. Just read the dream journal again and now I think of it electronicks worked in my dream ? I had cars and computers working in my dream. What the fuck guys ? [editline]11:15PM[/editline] Now that I look into it electronics do work in my dream. Zin could you shine a light on this ? Or anyone ?
I think that if you truly understand how something functions, it will work in your dream. This is why I am studying the 50cal desert eagle with incendiary rounds. personal defense X10 :smug:
God damnit I'm so scared of the idea of sleep paralysis :ohdear: What are the chances of entering it through WILD?

You probably just decided to go with the flow, for whatever reason. Or your sub thought you not having full control was a good idea.
Ugh, does anyone else ever have sort of... this is hard to describe... really indisinct dreams where your mind races and thoughts just sort of overload?
Now that I look into it electronics do work in my dream. if i would have quoted the other one, there was a question in that. im fuckin lazy. thank you for that insight zin :3 [editline]04:04PM[/editline] makes sense. If i was my sub, id be scared of giving me too much control over something.
Im findin this so hard, evertime im fallin alseep i reemember my dreams and im aware im there but not in the way im awake, im too mellow :P i saw a halo reach plasma grenade and started kicking it like a football and i didnt even relise there not real. also eveytime im stayin still, think its the rem sleep thing where you stay still and just try to drift off that way, i get numb like i cant feel anything but after about 20 mins i just get bored :(
After you've gone lucid for a long time, certain reality checks don't work. your brain gets better at making real life rules apply, because it knows that now you notice and care.
It was my first ever lucid dream where I could stay calm and not overwhelm. In normal dreams electronics work too.
That's the stage right before lucidity. Sometimes it happens like that.
Thanks Zin. Looks like I'm closer to lucidity than I've been expecting! Also, dream recall recently has been off the scale in comparison to normal. Achieving either a fairly well remembered dream and at least two other dream fragements, or huge, vivid and ultra-long dreams which have been amazing every night. My Dream Journal is now littered with favourites. This thread is really helping ^_^
Posting in the morning this time. I don't think people have "dark" dreams, except blind people, but then i don't really know what they dream about lol. Is it possible for me to remember my dream being completely black, or is it because I forgot?
If you don't remember now and don't have it written down, i don't think it's possible to remember it from nothing. My dream memory triggered when i remembered one image from it, this morning, before realizing that was part of a dream i couldn't remember anything about it, i couldn't even remember i had one. Try really hard remembering even one part from it and try to keep building from there, if that doesn't help, you probably won't remember. :( (Also, i took "Is it possible for me to remember my dream being completely black" to mean that you were asking if you could remember a dream if you were actually a black person, YOU RACIST!)
I was asking if the dream could be black, where there is nothing but blackness. I also heard a girl scream if that's relevant.
Then it could be possible but very unlikely, I've never heard of such a thing (i also tried editing my post just as you posted that).
Posting in the morning this time. Is it possible for me to remember my dream being completely black, or is it because I forgot?
It's possible. Perhaps the other senses were more memorable or had more important roles. Or maybe it was just black. It happens. And the blind people thing is an interesting topic. I know the answer, but I just bought Dead Rising 2, so I'll be busy for a while.
When will day 4 or 5 or wherever we are be ready?
So I was waiting to post my dream, but now I'm actually doing it. WHOO PROCRASTINATION! Note: I will add some interpretations confirmed(?) by my sub (via yes/no questions and the ideomotor response) within *asterisks*; also, I wasn't trying to LD, so they're really just dreams
The first thing I remember is rollerblading home from school. *This is irrelevant* After a memory gap, I was in a hospital, and I examined a man who clearly had some sort of mental problem that doomed him to the nuthouse. However, I was sad for him, because there was a rational human being inside him, wishing people could understand, but doomed to be misunderstood for the rest of his life (feelings akin to "I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream"). *This was partially inspired by a previously unseen Scrubs episode: [[http://scrubs.wikia.com/wiki/My_Full_Moon]] that had a man convinced everyone was an imposter. Also, the man represented... me?* Cut to entering a house retrofitted as a hypnosis clinic. I entered to find a large lobby that also acted as the work area, though the only notable pieces were some dividers and video games, which both workers there were fiddling with. A female (Sort of a secretary, except that's not quite right) came in, and greeted me, then chastised the others for playing games when they should be working. The hypnotist proper was the one behind the dividers. *I know I saw his face, but my subconscious made me forget what happened. Apparently the hypnotist was my sub, and apparently my sub wants to keep its options open (as far as forms) <-True story.* I vaguely remember going through some sort of museum about hypnotism, which had an example of a very stereotypical twirly-eyed 'do-my-bidding' type guy. A disembodied voice said that hypnotism was a fraud, and I responded that there is such a thing, just... well... not quite like that. *Presumably inspired by "Beat-Angel" I think it was called? A recently watched anime, and there was a generic hypnotist kid in that that was pretty entertaining* I returned to the house, but it is closed. I look inside, and there are two kids arguing about basic arithmetic, clearly because they have forgotten numbers *<-A fascination of mine*. I tried helping one using logic, but after some minutes of failure the greeter person came back and says that if I need a someone right away, there are some psychologists she could recommend (thought back to hospital staff and some RL people). I forget the first name, but the second name was Sarah Lizbitt *Lizbitt being a very clever and unusual reconstruction of my RL name* Then, I woke up, fumbled around for my journal, and had plenty of time to write as I woke an hour early *Definitely my sub's fault, grr/jk*
I really didn't want to get up so early, though... and I'm impressed I dreamt so much in 4 hours of sleep (even less REM sleep, too) OH, and btw Zin, I'm working on my symbol-y thing, because the whole thing is totally awesome, and also I'm interested in what I think of my childhood. MSPaint sucks though, because lines never curve enough and MSPaint is just generally sucky at everything possible. I'll probably finish tomorrow; my sub got sick of trying today and is apparently going to do something to help, though I'm apparently still not ready to feel those feelings so I dunno lol. And I was totally going to ask you first so as not to impose, but then I just started doing it; in any event, I won't post it if you don't want me to, but I'm hoping to. I'm confident enough in my sub to entrust these secrets to strangers... especially compared to friends or family. Just think of the problems that might cause: I have to LISTEN to them ;p So... longest non-OP post? :D
hhhmmm..... I am interested on how to make a "symbol" ^
just fell asleep at the computer with mspaint? :P jk seriously tho, how. [editline]07:42AM[/editline] DAMN AUTOMERGE /caps
no problem man ooooohhhhhhh I remember that post now. not really I went back and read it :P Drawing DOES seem to be the emerging mini-fad ITT [editline]08:51AM[/editline] no problem man ooooohhhhhhh I remember that post now. not really I went back and read it :P Drawing DOES seem to be the emerging mini-fad ITT [editline]08:53AM[/editline] I just wanna know vaugely what the procedure is for drawing dream symbols. >.< thats what you get for usind slow-ass school internet with facepunch. ^
thanks bro. I went on 5 hours last night worked until 1 on a school project, fell asleep until 5, finished it and slept for an hour. 'i said to myself, I dont want a dream tonight, I JUST WANNA SLEEP.

Drawings say a lot in a small space, and they're kind of cryptic. Good way to say things that we understand but can't consciously comprehend.
I wonder if you can go back to one of your old dream. I had promised one of the people in my dreams that I will come back to see them. I haven't yet :frown: Also, that dream was one of the most vivid dreams I had ever had.
I wonder if you can go back to one of your old dream. I had promised one of the people in my dreams that I will come back to see them. I still have my first lucid dream completely memorized.
You can, it depends on how good your recall was. I still have my first lucid dream completely memorized.
Well, this dream was just a normal one but I can still remember it clearly.
yay sublimenal messaging! [editline]09:26AM[/editline] I've had continuing dreams building on dreams I had years ago and didnt remember.
I think they can hear what you say when your awake. ...maybe that was just for jake... dont listen to what I say, I just like thinking im helping. :3
zin, anyway to convince my sub when im awake to make me lucid in my dreams?
Keep doing MILDs, they basically do that.
