Hello. I normally lurk this thread but I recently remembered a dream I had a few months back. I am unsure If it was lucid, but it felt so real. It's amazing what your mind can do given some time. ------------------------- It started with me flying around the British countryside, I then forgot how to fly and ended up landing on the ground. There was a football (Soccer) stadium and everything seemed to go into a sepia colour tone. The surrounding area was like a typical industrial revolution era town. There was lots of people in Bio-hazard suits. A tall person with a face obscured by a gas mask walked up to me and gestured me to follow. I walked around the stadium following this figure. People were bringing out Geiger counters and they were ticking loudly. There was radiation present in this area. As we rounded a corner, we came across a very old rotting wooden mine. There was a metal tube big enough for a man to walk down laying in the middle of this mine. An old clock was nailed to the wall above the mine. It had a strange design as well as roman numerals. We stared into this tube and I saw a ghostly face. I asked the people round me if anyone else had seen the face but nobody else had. I glanced back up at the clock, but the glass protecting the face had cracked and the clock had stopped. I suddenly found myself flying again. I could see a theme park ahead, nestled in a small valley. I could see strange people who looked exactly like people I knew, yet each one of them looked unsettling in a way that I cannot describe. I landed in the parking lot. Immediately I was hit by a silver Mercedes Benz. I was sent flying through the air and crashed into the ground. When I got up, it was night time. The theme park had vanished and in it's place was a village built into a hill. It was all blocky, much like those huge Minecraft cities. As I wondered around this blocky village, I somehow spooked a dog which started chasing me. I kicked a window and jumped into the second floor of this random house. The inside of the house was all wood. It seemed so old fashioned, yet there were modern lights. The dog was still chasing me. I opened the nearest door, dashed inside, and bolted it shut. I turned around and to my horror, the room was full of identical stuffed lions. I jumped out of another window and stepped into another world. ----------------------------------- It's getting late and I need to be at Uni tomorrow so I am gonna leave it here for now. I'll write up the rest when I get a chance.
I must try this again, I used to try but I kept failing, soon forgot. [editline]16th October 2010[/editline] I've gone lucid a few times before, for a few minutes and I didn't do anything special, but it was great.
Aha, a fellow Brit ^. @Goshoha - Yeah, that dream of mine was messed up. And what do I hope to get out of college? Well, I'm taking Media, English Lit, Music and Graphics. Thought for a long time that 3D Animation was the way to go, but have ended up entering for some music Universities. I hate big decisions, and my mind has been messing around with me the last few days trying to give me dreams to make my doubt myself. @Birdman101 - Yes, it seems you must be really attuned with your sub. I've noticed that most people's subs are opposites, girl subs for guys, vice versa, seemingly reflecting the opposite of the actual person's characters. Perhaps you understand yourself to the point where your sub and yourself are aligned? *shrug* On another note, another semi-lucid dream today, I'll edit in the details later. Was irritating, because I stopped in the middle of the street in my dream and was like "This is boring. Let's shift this stuff around," and was making all this stuff appear and this appear. Finally shifted the whole centre of gravity and earth and fell through the sky. Can I really class this as lucidity if, even though I could alter my dream and things, I wasn't fully aware I WAS dreaming? Jolted awake through falling, then slept again almost immediately and my view of my room merged into my dream and continued my falling. Weird.

You explored space yet? I spent a month constantly designing my fortress on Mars. (Oddly enough, it carried over from dream to dream.) I suggest just getting a really flat area of land, like a runway, and then just start running. If you want to, you'll run so fast you outrun the earth's curve and rocket into space.
Well, when I fell back into my dream, I actually was in space! I lost lucidity then, but was falling through a huge amount of asteroids, guiding a huge spaceship behind me that kept smashing into the rocks. Passed a huge blue planet, heading towards earth. And wow, a fortress on Mars?! I like the way you suggested to take off into space, it made me laugh.
Ok, I am going to try lucid dreaming for the first time ever the only thing i am relatively scared of are: 1. Scary shit happening 2. It's not really a dream, and i just raped my classmates in real life
I have another question, and it's a little less stupid than my last one. I remember this one time as a kid, I was having this really freaky nightmare, and all I wanted to do was wake up, so I started picturing myself in bed lifting my hands to my eyes and pulling them open by the eyelashes. The next thing I knew, I was lying in bed, with my thumbs and index fingers around my eyelashes as if I actually pulled them up like in the dream. Now, here is my question. Is it possible for one to force their body to do something while they are in a dream, whether lucid or not?
Aha, a fellow Brit ^.
<- is a brit also :3:
I also have some questions How long will it take for me to be able to lucid dream properly, knowing that this is my first night? And are nightmares really common? Can anyone provide some tips?
I am very sad. I tried to do WILD last night while starting out awake. I sat completely still for an hour, and nothing was happening. I live in California, and the nights are really fucking hot so I generally toss all around and constantly throw covers all over the place until I get comfortable, so it was really hard for me to get that far. And then, all of the sudden, I had to sneeze. But it wasn't just a regular sneeze, oh no. It was a AHHHHHH-FUCKING-CHOO kind of sneeze. I tried my best to resist, but sadly, I sneezed, and my whole body jolted, and then I knew it was over. :smith: HOWEVER... I woke up this morning, and the first thing I thought was HOLY SHIT I REMEMBERED MY DREAM! I normally never ever remeber any parts of my dreams, and I vivdly remeberd this one. Sadly, it wasn't lucid. But it was still a pretty cool dream. I was at an arcade or something. There was a door that was on the left side of the square building that I was in. I went outside. It was very sandy outside, and it was hot. Has anyone ever played the HL1 multiplayer map called Debris? Because that's exactly what it was like. There was this fire escape type thingy on the side of the building that I had just walked out from. There was a guy up there with long curly brown hair and a beard. He was wearing camoflauge jeans, and a armor vest. He had a sniper rifle, and he was sniping everyone who walked outside. But it wasn't like a real sniper rifle, it was more like an airsoft one, but it looked just like a real one. I ducked behind some cover and found another real looking airsoft sniper rifle. I then used my awesome sniping skills :smug: to shoot him. He wasn;t like trying to kill people though. It was a friendly attitude like laser tag or something. But anyways, after I shot him, he stood up, and said, "Nice shot. You have defeated me. Now, you must defeat me in my 9 challenges." A crowd gathered behind me. They were all people who I see during passing period at my junior high. There was about 200 of them, and I could tell that they were going to go on the nine challenges too. We walked through an allyway, and he explaind the challenges to us up from his sniping postion. He actually explained all nine, but I can only remeber the first one. It was simple. He was going to chase us through a long path in France and there were going to be obstacles along the way. If any of us were touched, we lost. So, next thing I know, I'm running with this huge long group of people from my school. The sky turns dark and rainy for a moment, and we're running through my school. Then the concrete met the grass, and the sky became sunny like a normal California day. We were running on a wavy sidewalk through a gated community. The sidewalk went though grassy hills, and on each side of the sidewalk beyond the grassy hills were a bunch of similar looking houses. There were the occasional pine trees scattered around through the hills. This place looked extremely similar to the gated community that my grandma lives in. So yeah, there were all of these people running on the path. No one went off of the path as if it was against the rules or something. It was a lot like the Css gamemode Zombie Mod, where everyone is running in the exact same direction together. Suddenly, everyone but me sped up and ran far ahead. I was in last place. I didn't see the guy anywhere, so I thought that I was fine. There were these gigantic sheets of newspaper that coverd the sidewalk, and I picked one up and there was a bunch of money under it. I ignored the money, kept picking up sheets, and then I turned around and threw them at my 6 year old sister who was laughing at me. Suddenly, the guy came out from under a newspaper that was right in front of me and almost tagged me. The path made a sharp right, and I jumped over the guy and continued on the path. It started on an incline, and then it turned all the way around so that I was running the opposite way then I was originally. It led into the backyard of one of the houses that I had previously mentioned. It led right to the edge of a pool, and then continued to the other side. I jumped in the pool (it was pretty shallow, and it felt cool, but not cold) and started to wade across. And then I woke up. Can a dream expert tell me what this could possibly mean?
Been pretty lazy and haven't been writing in my dream journal, but I had one hell of a dream last night. Basically, I was in Vietnam, we were low on ammo, and everything was in Battlefield Vietnam style graphics. I had a sniper rifle and killed two Vietcong that I couldn't see really well. Then I discovered we were out of rifle ammo so I grabbed a mini uzi that was sitting on a table next to a general and charged into the Vietcong and sprayed shot after shot at Vietcong and citizens. I walked into an old building and pulled out a black desert eagle, and starting shooting koreans...or Vietnamese. I'm not sure which. All I remember is shooting an old lady and some middle aged man with glasses. Then I died and woke up.
Guys a lucid dream goal. Give me one. I've lacked imagination lately. I thought about blowing up a nuke in my city, but I already did that (oh god the pressure blast wave was hilarious) so I want to try something new. So without further talk: What to do? [editline]15th October 2010[/editline]
I also have some questions How long will it take for me to be able to lucid dream properly, knowing that this is my first night? Well there's sleep paralysis, which happens more often before and after lucid dreams, but with practise you'll easily get past the stage by simply relaxing and realizing that it's all in your head. When you get your first LD, stay calm and don't get exited or you will wake up. Look at your hands and rub them together to stabilize and not wake up. If you want to create something in the dream, don't force it, but "know" that it is there. For example, KNOW that a car is behind you without doubt, and when you turn, it will be there. If you try to "MAKE" it, you will fail.

Give yourself your gun of choice, and have a flag that needs to be captured in the middle. Have fun.

Seems the most reliable to me. Flying without any help superman style at high altitudes feels really scary even when it's a dream because I'm a little afraid of heights and it feels so damn real. But being inside a ship/plane makes it easier. [editline]16th October 2010[/editline]
Imagine a giant desert, fill it with tanks, helicopters, planes, and soldiers. Medieval battles and sieges, future space battles with giant space battleships, WW2 air and land battles, modern era and so on. I'm looking for something new as a goal.
Just read what people do on the DS game Scribblenaughts. ie. go back in time riding a robot t-rex to kill zombies. Yeah.....

See how long it takes for you to develop an advanced civilization. My record's about 800 years.
Those are some awesome ideas you got there. Zin, can you tell me anything about my dream?
once i have time to read a small novel, i will. right now i'm getting ready to go to a concert.
This has probably been explained somewhere, but sometimes when I'm pretty tired and I lay down to go to bed, something weird happens. I close my eyes, I'm almost asleep, then "BANG", I hear this boom in my head, or feel a brief falling feeling that jolts me awake. It's not scary or anything, but I'm like, "ASS!! I was almost asleep!" Anyone know what this is and if it's related to dreams at all?

Look it up, you might find something helpful

I just looked it up on Wikipedia, but it's not nearly that bad when it happens to me. It's not scary or anything, just annoying.
once i have time to read a small novel, i will. right now i'm getting ready to go to a concert.
Zin, why do I feel like if you and Jake teamed up, you could write a decent-sized novel about lucid dreaming, including exploits and specifically entrancing dreams the both of you had? It makes me wonder, if shared dreaming was possible, what you and Jake could accomplish together.

As for tips, Bannanas, then take your time to meditate, really clear out your head before you start saying lines for WILDs [editline]16th October 2010[/editline]
But I've already fought in wars of most eras. So, I have this constant ringing in my ears, and it never stops. It seems to be louder in the ear that is pointing to the floor, and it really makes it hard to sleep. I've had it for as long as I can remember, and it sort of sounds like the ringing you hear in games when you get flash grenade'd. It also makes it difficult to converse with people. Is this exploding head syndrome?
I have that too, but only when everything is quiet, my air conditioner stops that from happening.
Well I tend to not notice it in loud places, but otherwise its pretty prominent.

Tinnitus happens to everyone occasionally, but if it's happening all the time then you probably should get it checked, as it may be a symptom of something more serious. EDIT OF EDIT: By neurological (below) I mean it could still be something as simple as hearing loss or an ear infection it doesn't mean you're headed to the loony-bin EDIT: Not this, Mr. phagocitic, \/; physics dictate that soundwaves die eventually, so ringing in prolonged silence is clearly neurological (or muscle spams in your ears, but that's pretty rare)
That's just your ears ringing silly! It happens constantly, it's just that you never notice it because your hearing stuff during the day. It's soundwaves from really loud stuff that gets trapped in you ear, and it bounces around in there. Nothing to worry about, unless it gets really bad. But I think there's treatment for it. DAMNIT NINJA :ninja:
Well I tend to not notice it in loud places, but otherwise its pretty prominent.
Yeah, this pretty much happens to everyone when it's completely quiet. I think it's just your ears straining to hear something, because they're like, "WUDDUP, BOI?! WHY DERE NO SOUNDZ?! LEMME TRY HARDER!" Edit: Wait, maybe phagocitic got it.. Edit : Yes, I lose.
