and what in hot twinkie hell's firey oven was your resoning for trying that zin?
To see if I could, of course. [editline]19th October 2010[/editline]
I'm guessing your mind goes into "what the fuck is just happening" mode, goes all BSOD and restarts by waking you up.
Kind of. It was like instantaneous exploding head syndrome. [editline]19th October 2010[/editline]
When I went out to the U.S.A a few months ago, I was bored one night in bed so I asked my brain to wake me up at half four. I woke up at half four and couldn't for the life of me go back to sleep. Is this normal, like a personal alarm clock?
You have an internal alarm clock, you've probably heard of it referred to as your circadian rhythm. For some reason, your brain can tell time really, really well. Most nights I don't even set an alarm unless I'm keeping a really weird schedule, in which case my clock is like well fuck you then and doesn't wake me up. If you go to sleep and wake up at the same time every night for a week or so, you'll start being able to do it without the alarm, as long as you're precise. [editline]19th October 2010[/editline]
got another dream for you guys. I was inside my school, where a girl from my class was filming a clip for the Junior Eurovision Songfestival. I don't know the lyrics, but it was a slow song and really beautiful. But I had other business to do, namely to accidentally walk in front of the film twice and go to a classroom to do something for someone. The cameramen and the girl just did go on with their clip. Cut to me and my class sitting in a classroom, the girl and the crew coming in with T-shirts. She walks in front of the class and says: 'As a showing of gratitude, I will now give T-shirts to everyone participating in the making of this clip... And DVH.' she was saying the last part with a real sarcastic tone. And because you ordered now, you get a second dream FREE! I was sitting in a clothing room for some kind of dance. I do this because Zack (the one with Cody) was turned into a girl. So after a blurry piece in the clothing room, Zack turned back, so I was useless there. After escaping at the last minute, I sat down with some of my classmates and checked my iPod, which was turning off. Above the standard iPod touch shutdown circle was written: Get cake. For some reason, I walked away, and I met a teacher who said: 'Do you still want those 100 points?', then immeadeadly walked away, leaving behind a confused me. Any symbolism behind this?
yeah, stop smoking weed before you sleep [editline]19th October 2010[/editline]
got another dream for you guys. does MILD lose you sleep? ever since i have started using it i don't get much sleep...
I remembered 2 of my 3 from last night! :D
I don't need much sleep, so it doesn't really affect my pattern. Hopefully I'm gonna LD tonight. Gonna try to read from 10:00 to about 11:30, hopefully will get mentally tired enough to MILD my way to victory.
Wow Had my first dose of sleep paralysis this morning ... Just wow Also, WILD failed, so when i woke up i used MILD again and got a LD about 5 secs long
explain in more detail what happened?
i really shouldn't be looking through the scary stuff thread before i go to bed...
still, did you see or hear any hallucinations in sleep paralysis also what did you do in the short LD
I had a lucid dream last night, it was actually really easy. I had read this thread once or twice so I kind of new that to influence my dreams I had to realise I was dreaming. I was dreaming that I was in school for some reason, looking at one my class books, the date read 2008 at first this was not unusual but when I looked again in the dream it read 2001. I realised it was a dream and said that to myself in it, instantly gaining control over my body I left the class and punched a teacher in the face just to make sure.

How did it finally feel to get one? And how real did it feel? I like hearing experiences from first-timers.
Yeah it was my first, it was awesome. Knowing that you can actually do anything while having the concious ability to choose is about the best thing ever. It's pretty realistic, but only to a certain extent. Feelings like pain and fatigue don't seem to really exist and emotionally there was no connection. However I didn't view that as a negative point, it allows you to do literally anything you can imagine with no real moral or physical consequence. FIIIIIRE FROM MY HAAAAAAANDS BITCHES.
its like justin beiber fighting kimbo slice. only beiber needs kimbo to survive (breathing, heart beating, ect.) Fatigue is, well, who would want fatigue in their dreams to slow them down? Emotional connection depends on the person, I wouldn't for example kill my family members even when it's a dream, it just feels really wrong. [editline]19th October 2010[/editline] I think I'll give WILD a try tonight.. haven't tried that in a while.
It was a good first experience, it was pretty short though. I hope that if I have another one tonight I won't break out of it so quickly and I'll try to do something cooler than fire and punching teachers.

For example, look at your hands, the little details in them, and rub them together for stimulation. Also, imagine that there are sunglasses over your eyes, and take them off to make the dream visually clearer. Do not get excited, always do something to keep the flow of the dream going (stopping and thinking while doing nothing will usually wake you up). And think about what you're going to do BEFORE you sleep, so that you have something to look forward to (motivation increases chances of successful lucid).
Orkel, I had the best idea last night. We've both run out of things to do in LDs, right? Memorize a song, then let it play in an LD. Let your brain take care of the rest. It'll surprise you what scenarios your brain comes up with. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOnjUm0xjKo perfect example. for me it was in the pouring rain.
What exactly happened?

[editline]19th October 2010[/editline] Besides, if I can't think of anything, I just use the random button technique. And let my brain take care of the rest.
FILD is looking pretty promising, I'm going to try it tonight will post back with results. I have also figured out I could do MILD pretty easily, Whenever I wake up and I had a dream I really want to continue, I just tell myself "time to go back" and I start the dream right where I left off when I woke up. I can do this real easy.
still, did you see or hear any hallucinations in sleep paralysis also what did you do in the short LD
1. yes. 2. tried to rub my hands together, but got occupied looking into a funky mirror you like experiences from newer LD'ers huh? right then, off to bed wish me luck
FILD is looking pretty promising, I'm going to try it tonight will post back with results.
Can't remember exactly, is that the one where you move your fingers?
So I've finally resorted to coming here. I'm very interested in lucid dreaming, because I have always had the biggest imagination. It would be amazing to take all of the little things that I have made up in my head (medieval battles, vehicles that don't exist) and actually bring them to a sort of "reality". I understand that starting with things of that magnitude would probably end up in disaster. Where would I go to start learning how to lucid dream? Also, this is kind of random but I usually get sleep paralysis once a month. It happens most often if I have an irregular sleep schedule. One time it happened to me 3 times in one morning. The funny thing is, nothing scary ever shows up when I'm paralyzed. I'm honestly so awake that I can tell what's happening and I get angry that I have to deal with 5 minutes or so of sleep paralysis.
Repost, this never really got responded to.
Can't remember exactly, is that the one where you move your fingers?
I've had immense luck with that. I think it's more effective than ANY other technique, but I haven't shared that a lot because I know it's pretty controversial and most people can't do it very well. Personally, though, it's my favorite. I can go lucid in ten minutes like that.
Read the post below the OP in this topic and read the OP in the link on the first post.
Sorry, I should have seen that before. I got linked to the thread at like page 30, so I never got around to reading the OP. Thanks.
FILD is a for of DEILD in which you wake up, and twitch your fingers. It induces sleep paralysis quickly, as I've heard, and helps you concentrate to jump back into a dream, or something.
Well I suppose I'll start from the beginning... Learning how to remember my dreams correctly :v: I've started keeping a dream journal and I'm honestly having trouble even remembering one dream. I don't remember it at all if not it's very very vague. Hopefully I will get better in time...
So, I had my first LD last night, well morning. Last night I tried to do a C-WILD because I usually count myself to sleep. Got to 100(Dont have a clue whether I was asleep or not) and Bang thunder, at that point I just passed it off as mind fuckery, got to 100 again, and thunder again. I then went into my living room(I sleep on the couch sometimes, it's pretty comfortable) and start again, this time I saw the lighting and my dogs started barking like crazy. Did the nose-pinch RC, was not a dream. After the lighting got far enough a way, I said fuck it and just went to sleep. While dreaming in the morning, I did the same RC. Amazingly it felt like air was coming out of the bottom of my nostrils, like I wasn't holding it all the way. Tried it a few more times then suddenly, I'm jumping into the sky. When I realized I was dreaming, not really excitement, just a "oh, i'm dreaming w/e" Next thing I know I'm awake and hearing "Time to wake up", goddamned parents waking me up at 7:15 instead of the normal 7:40 time I wake up. tl;dr; There was lighting and later I had a LD for the first time.
So what is FILD and how do you do it?
It's basically like WILD except you focus on very slowly moving your fingers. Short, minimal movements. Focus entirely on your fingers. Eventually you'll WILD.
It's basically like WILD except you focus on very slowly moving your fingers. Short, minimal movements. Focus entirely on your fingers. Eventually you'll WILD.
Curling them into your palm, or lifting them? Or does it not matter?
So this has happened to me a couple times in the past few weeks... It's a really weird sensation, like it's not sleep paralysis, but it's not like meditation. It'll usually be on nights that I'm having trouble falling asleep. What happens is I get myself really really tired and drowsy (like how you feel right before you fall asleep), and a few seconds before I drift off into sleep, I get this really weird feeling. It's almost like I can't breathe for half of a second and I have this sudden urge to jolt really hard or I will go into sleep paralysis. Does this have anything to do with lucid dreaming/meditation?
