I've been trying to lucidly dream but I am having trouble. I have tried for a good month's time to try, but the only thing I get is feeling numb. I've tried for 1 hour laying down, using the WILD method I believe. What am I doing wrong?
Try CWILD, counting WILD. Relax and start counting to 100, once you hit 100 do a RC. If it fails, you can eithre do 20 more counts and repeat, or restart from 0. If anything disturbs you while you are counting, just go back some numbers, the more unrelaxed it got you, the more numbers to go back.
Man, having week-long dreams is so weird. I wasn't really lucid, but it literally felt like a week, and every night I would turn off the lights in some room, which had something different in it every day (one day it was nothing, another it was a collection of guitars and amps, another it was freaky tentacle creatures, etc). Waking up the morning after with a mind that is a week ahead is trippy as hell.
going to try Fild(?) tonight. do I need to wake up then do it or start right away?
Gonna try FILD this weekend, as I can't do it on school nights :frown:
I love FILD. Dammit. Now i NEED to play kingdom hearts, but I don't own a PS2 anymore. God I miss that game.
Get an emulator? Damn, well, at least I have a keyblade in my LDs, but my subbie would not let me play with it on regular dreams.:saddowns: FILD looks interesting, I hope i wiggle my finger slow enough.

Hell, it stalls with Minecraft. It's surprising how easy it is to focus on your fingers. I did it last night, except I got bored and then blacked out. usually it works if i try, though
Gonna watch a scary movie tonight should i still try to lucid dream?
Hypothetical scenario for everyone. This would be an interesting LD, even though it would be incredibly fucked up. Someone brutally kills your family and your dog (just to rub it in). How do you torture them to get your revenge? (Sodomy optional on both parts) [editline]21st October 2010[/editline] I'm almost scared to post my answer to this, because you guys have seen just how fucked up I can be at times. But my answer to this question just absolutely blows other situations out of the water.
(Sodomy optional on both parts)
:pervert: really though, I would tie them down and slowly pour industrial grade paint stripper over all parts of their body. ......aaaaall paaaarts........ ...especially their eyes... those who have ever gotten paint stripper on their skin know what Im talking about.
I try FILD without setting an alarm. The farthest I get is a giant numb feeling all over my body. It's like my entire body went to sleep, such as if you lay on your leg and it gets the old pins-and-needles feeling. I can control where the feeling goes ( I usually direct it to my crotch :pervert: ) and stuff, but I don't know if it's true Sleep Paralysis. What is it and what does it mean? [editline]21st October 2010[/editline] 100th post!!!!! Plus, I would pour hydrogen peroxide on his eyes, cut off his fingers, pour it on that, then throw him out of a window.
Well FILD failed. Forgot to keep moving my fingers. BUT peanut butter and banana toast help me remember my dream mostly. But I didnt write them down because I had to patrol my street with a gun at 3am.

Doc is a badass vigilante Zin, I am always interested to hear a good evil plot. [editline]21st October 2010[/editline] Doc is a badass vigilante Zin, I am always interested to hear a good evil plot.
Hahaha my mafia neighbor came out with a shot gun. So its all good. Wer're tired of people breaking into out cars.
punch them :(
I would shoot them. In the legs. If I could catch them. But they havnt showed up ever since we started walking out into the city streets wielding large guns.
I love it how people answer other's questions but not mine. I feel unappreciated. /wrists
I've tried WILD several times, but each time I come to a point where my body feels like it's falling and I jump up in my bed, waking me up. How can I prevent this?
Last night's FILD attempt stayed as an attempt. I got into the transition stage once, heard buzzing and felt like I was spinning, but I snapped out of it. Did a reality check but I was awake for real. Didn't get into it again. Or if you truly want an effective one do you have to try a few nights in a row? I'm really curious. I've been recording my dreams and remembering more from them every night. Reality checks are also a habit for me now. I do it every time something weird happens, lately I've been doing them like 20 times a day. Hopefully I will get a lucid dream. I don't want to try any techniques like WILD or FILD yet, because my dream recall is so weak right now that I wouldn't remember much of the dream anyways.

Even in South Dakota, people get very soccermom-ish about guns.

It's probably because my mind isn't such a huge barrier anymore from all the practising and experience. The length of them varies, some are a few seconds and some can be several minutes. Sounds short, but it feels longer in the dream. You'd be surprised how much stuff you can do in what feels like just 5 minutes. Keep up at it, you'll get a lucid sometime in the near future. If RCs are already a regular habit to you, you will probably go lucid within a week or two if lucky. Just my guess though. How long have you done the RCs?
How long have you done the RCs?
It seems I've been doing them for about 3 or 4 days now. I haven't been trying for very long but I'm in a situation in my life where I can devote a lot of time to it now. I've been writing in a dream journal a lot and I think about RC's every 30 minutes or so, sometimes less.

You'll likely get a lucid within 1-2 months.
Ohh, then I'll change my prediction as 3/4 days of practise isn't much yet. You'll likely get a lucid within 1-2 months.
I assumed I would get an answer like that. The part I'm most concerned with is my dream recall. It's getting better, but I've always been bad at remembering dreams. Up until I started practicing I would almost never remember my dreams. Maybe once or twice a week. Sometimes less. I hope that will get better in time.
Where do you live, because any place where you can walk the streets with guns is my idea of a place to live.
Doc is a badass vigilante Zin, I am always interested to hear a good evil plot.
goddammit Just remember you asked me to do this. I'm going to separate them into quotes to make the post look better organized.
Right. Well, as a med student, I know a few things about the brain. Mainly that the human body is not meant to withstand great amounts of pain for long periods of time. There are gating mechanisms in the lower brain that can block pain, and exposure to intense pain for long enough will cause you to go into shock and pass out. We don't want THIS to happen, now do we? So, the FIRST thing we do is administer a combination of neuromuscular inhibitors, pain gate blockers, and adernaline. This combination is important, and this is why: Remember, the human body is meant to have a pain threshold. At a certain point, that is reached and you go unconscious. We don't want that, so the neuromuscular inhibitors serve two purposes: paralyze him from the neck down, and make him super sensitive to pain and senses. The pain gate blockers mean that the threshold is entirely ignored, meaning it can be passed and he'll be awake for every glorious minute of it. The adrenaline keeps him painfully aware of his surroundings, and will probably slow time to a screaming crawl. So now he can feel more pain than the human body was ever meant to feel, he'll feel it enhanced even further, and he'll be completely aware of everything that's happening. Also, CNS drugs should be administered to prevent some weird nervous system fuckup like tachycardia. While we're administering drugs, we should make sure that he has a constant IV of fluids and nutrients. Wouldn't want him to be malnourished or die of starvation. (Note this only applies for longer..."treatments". We also should make sure that we are in a completely sterile environment so he's unable to get an infection, which could kill him faster.

Right, so that's settled. We should probably make sure that this is psychological as well as physical torture, right? I mean, wouldn't want him to feel anything except absolute mindfucking pain until he draws his last breath for mutilating my loved ones, know what I mean? So the room should be hot and humid. This will transmit smells far better, and a room with good acoustics will enhance sound. Tactile sensations are obviously not going to be an issue, and I have a couple plans for taste as well. But what about sight? Wouldn't want him to close his eyes, that'd ruin the fun. So, eyelids. We have three options here: 1. We paralyze him. Easiest, but can't hear him scream. That's lame. 2. Local anesthetic to eyeballs. Good, but would have to be applied every couple hours. 3. Put him in some sort of device which splays his eyelids back. Think like that weird thing Nicholas Cage was put into in that terrible movie 'Next'. 4. Or we take the Terminator option and just cut the pesky things off. Good start to the day, but unfortunately means you must apply saline every two minutes so something bad like keratoconjunctivitis. Wouldn't want his eyes to be damaged. So that's good. One last touch, though: manipulate the way the brain works. Make sure you have a camera filming the whole thing, and put a monitor near him showing everything that's happening to him. Mirror neurons will do the rest. Thank you, brain.

Now comes the fun part. So we want torture. Best way to do this is to slowly whittle him down. Skin, muscles, nerves, bones. Not literally, that would be disgusting and far too fast. My suggestion? Industrial grade soldering iron. Slowly burn his entire body, piece by piece. If you can't get into a cavity, use a curling iron. Take breaks every hour or so, give him time to reflect. This is why a sterile room is important. Normally with burns covering so much of the body, he'd catch an infection and die within the day. Also, it's important to note we don't CUT, we simply BURN. If we CUT, we get blood loss, which would make him pass out regardless of the drugs. Burns just cause clotting, which aren't nearly as bad.

Right, so skin's pretty much gone thanks to 3rd degree burns. Unfortunately, the peripheral nerves are also fried to hell, so there's nothing there. Next up, we need something that can penetrate to the bone, but not literally. No cuts, remember? Perhaps I play inFamous too much, but I'm certainly a fan of electricity. I just like how it chemically works, electrons can be nasty fuckers. So, let's go with electricity. It needs to be painful, so the higher the voltage the better. Can't amp it too high, though, or he'll get heart damage. So something like a super powerful cattle taser or something. Point is, something with a wire that can penetrate inside the bone so there's no escaping it. (incidentally, this will also turn his bone marrow molten and melt him from the inside out.) These can be administered pretty much whenever you want. In a random pattern, of course, so he can't anticipate it. If you really want to be a douche, don't let him sleep. Set up a system so he gets a shock every couple minutes, 24 hours a day.

Now the coup de grâce, he has to finally embrace sweet death. Couple options here, and I'll leave that one up to you guys. Do we: A. Funnel piping hot oil down his trachea? B. Gag him with a rag soaked in gasoline, shove it halfway down his throat, and light it? Human molotov. or C., the more technical one. We give a neurotoxin that inflames his 10th (or 7th) cranial nerve. He'll slowly die (takes two days), but he'll be in paralyzing pain. (10th nerve is connected to the pain gates). More importantly, it will be constant pain. Then you just clean it up Dexter-style. Hope you have a boat handy. Not that there will be much to clean up after that.
In my own defense, I watch a lot of crime shows.
you are crazy. But its ok.
Okay, I had a vivid dream a few nights ago, I won't describe it unless asked to (I remembered most of what happened), the problem is that this was more of a vivid nightmare. I knew I was dreaming and could not wake up or change the dream. I felt helpless and I really do not want to experience that again. So does anyone have a sure fire way of waking up that's non lethal just incase I go crazy and think I'm dreaming when I'm not. tl;dr How do you wake up when you're not in complete control?
On an unrelated note, did you know there isn't a psychological exam included in med school entrance exams?
