Just remember you asked me to do this.
I'm going to separate them into quotes to make the post look better organized.

Janson Directive already did it, I just...expanded.
Read that instead. It's a good book.

Oh. Well, thanks for the recommendation! :buddy:

You must learn to ignore the feelings. That's called a hypnic jerk and it happens right on the edge of sleep.
I've tried that several times, but it's like trying to ignore being startled. I hope I get over it, though.
Okay, I had a vivid dream a few nights ago, I won't describe it unless asked to (I remembered most of what happened), the problem is that this was more of a vivid nightmare. I knew I was dreaming and could not wake up or change the dream. I felt helpless and I really do not want to experience that again. So does anyone have a sure fire way of waking up that's non lethal just incase I go crazy and think I'm dreaming when I'm not.
tl;dr How do you wake up when you're not in complete control?
Try to scream as hard as you can.
If you cannot scream, try to think really hard about waking up.

I should have listed what I tried to do, sorry my bad. I tried both of those and it obviously didn't work. Should I be more specific on the format of the dream, would that help?
GOD FUCKING DAMMIT READ MY POSTS
PAY ATTENTION TO THIS POST
I try FILD without setting an alarm. The farthest into a lucid dream I get is a giant numb feeling all over my body. It's like my entire body went to sleep, such as if you lay on your leg and it gets the old pins-and-needles feeling. I can control where the feeling goes ( I usually direct it to my crotch :pervert: ) and stuff, but I don't know if it's true Sleep Paralysis. What is it and what does it mean?
Thanks.

Probably very early stages of SP. When SP hits, some people feel a wave of electricity and tingling go throughout their body. For me it starts from the toes and just wooshes up to my head like someone quickly swiped my body with some electrical thing.
So I lurk on this thread a lot and try and pick up on what techniques work the best. I'm really exciting about trying FILD, it seems to be a very... Invigorating experience even if you don't achieve SP/LD. Does FILD seem to work well for people? It seems that if you use a method like FILD that you almost merge into your LDs instead of waking up in a dream and doing an RC. It seems like it would be more effective to meditate until you feel like you're dreaming, and then do an RC. I'm going to try that the next couple of nights. How does FILD work for people?
i tried it last night, sorta... failed at it, trying again tonight but does seem like its going to work
Alright so this is all pretty interesting so I thought I might try WILD out. Is there anything specific I need to know?
Dream recall is very, very, important. And don't think you'll get a lucid your first try.
Dream recall is very, very, important. And don't think you'll get a lucid your first try.
I have the exact opposite mindset. Every night I go to sleep not expecting a lucid dream, but hoping for one. Instead I focus more on remembering my dreams and getting to sleep. I feel this way, I will be practicing my dream recall and maybe even get an LD or two in the process of becoming better at LDing "on command".
I can't tell if I'm getting lucid dreams or not. Last night I thought I had attained lucidity, but the first thing I did was step outside. The dream got fuzzy, pretty much, and looked like it was going to fade out. After a bit, it faded back in.
At this point, I try to summon something. Of course, I don't do anything like turn away and imagine the object is there, I just wait for it to appear. And then the dream kind of goes on with its crazy little story about whatever.
I guess my question is that can you have a dream where in the dream you think you're lucid but you aren't actually lucid? I've had dreams like this before, and only one lucid so far has really felt 'real' to me (comments on how I don't have visual snow in dreams, could sort of feel wind, etc. before it faded out) and that lasted about 5 seconds.

Rereading that post I realize I cannot seem to compose anything readable today. At least, anything not laughable.

So I should focus on dream recalling first? Time to make banana peanut butter toast :v:

Honestly, I don't really think cramming b6 is that important. If you keep a regular diet, you probably have enough. Just start a dream journal, practice RCs whenever you remember them. Eventually you'll get an LD, whether it be weeks or days.
Am I the only person who had a LD on their first try?

Good job sir
You are a winner
I would have just gone with the industrial grade paint stripper, something involving repeated puking, and maybe the good ol "jumper cables to the nutsack" trick.

I did a RC check every 5 mins before going to bed after seeing this thread. That was 30m before going to bed
and for the finishing move:
put a bucket on hit chest with a rat in it. heat the bucket with a blowtorch until the rat digs through his abdomen to get out.
and no I didnt rip that from the fast and the furious. I knew about it before then.

I enjoy Dexter a BIT too much.
I must say, i did not know Lucid Dreaming was so popular with the crazy.
Im assuming its your sub telling you to read more because thats what youve neeb wanting to do? Or think thats what you need to do.
Last nights dream was a fat nerd telling me to read books, then it ended.
Are dreams ever this straight forward?
No, but just because a dream told you to read more doesn't mean you should. Do you WANT to? If not, don't.
yeah, it means stop being a lazy procrastinator and do your work

Drew that on my midterm. Fuck integrals.
Why do people here say "RC Check"?
RC is short for Reality Check. If you say "RC Check" you're basically saying "Reality Check Check."

Thats 'cause people check if they are doing a reality check. If I did a reality check in a dream and didn't realize it, thats probably because I didn't check that I was doing a reality check.
