thats deep ^ I was gonna try FILD last night, but I made the stupid decision to set my cell phone alarm for the middle of the night, instead of my alarm clock. It didnt even go off.
Thats 'cause people check if they are doing a reality check. If I did a reality check in a dream and didn't realize it, thats probably because I didn't check that I was doing a reality check.
This post implies that you can Actually do a reality check check check if you didn't know you were checking your check of your reality. Yo Dawg.
I start to get worried that I may not be dreaming. I look at my hands, they look normal. I block my nose, its blocked and I can't breath. I finally try to push my tongue through my teeth. Nada.
This is exactly why I use a digital watch as my RC. Stuff like blocking your nose and pushing your tongue through your teeth are what I call "stimulation checks", and they rely on the fact that your brain doesn't really plan everything ahead to make the dream a perfect simulation-it fucks up sometimes, causing you to do stuff that you wouldn't be able to do in real life. The trouble with this is the times your brain does plan ahead, making these checks useless. The other type of checks are what I call "imperfection checks". I call them that because they derive from stuff that your brain cannot physically do in a dream, such as read a digital clock right or read a large paragraph of text. These checks are far better because they don't rely on your brain fucking up, but rather on stuff that your brain cannot possibly do within the dream state. Using the latter type of checks produces (in my experience, anyway) not only better results for achieving lucidity, but also provide a clearer dream.
I won't be here for the next 24 hours, need to cram. Midterm tonight at 8:00, I'll be a bit busy.
Wow got 2 weeks off school to lucid dream
I had a dream I beat a punks face, and ran a red light in my muscle car (but in the dream it was in top notch condition of course) that I was doomed to be a vagabond for the rest of my life. My mother wouldnt talk to me and the law was after me. Odd dream. Oh and I played Half Life in real life.
My friend told me something very interesting today. For a long period of time his girlfriend has been having really bizarre nightmares, generally involving him dying or someone dying, and just general nastiness. Apparently in these dreams, she is watched by a man, who just stands there, observing. Generally he only appears during these nasty dreams, or when they're about to happen, and generally when he is present, my friend dies in them. However, sometimes he appears in her other dreams, which make her scared that another bad dream will develop, but this doesn't happen. Could this be her subconscious, and if it was, why the hell would he stand by and watch her boyfriend get killed over and over again?
Might just be a nightmare that particularly scares her?
Ugh. I completely failed to recall for the past two nights :( I also set my alarm wrong so I didn't wake up and do WILD
My dream last night was about me running around in an empty city. Does that mean im lonely? :frown:

He says its pretty sweet. [editline]22nd October 2010[/editline] not to brag or anything, but im currently restoring a 72 chevy 3/4 ton pickup. thing's a muscle truck. 400 big block ooohhhhh
im to scared to try a lucid dream beacuse theres a 99% chance ill be looking into a mirror then asking myself what my biggest fear is
What the hell, I was tired so I took a nap and tried to enter SP. I started going all numb and tingly then WHACK! My arm hit me in the head. I just rolled over and fell asleep.
Heh i have a question. If i use WILD, do i have to remember my own dream, or can i remember any story? i haven't been able to recall a dream in forever

My dad always ends up napping on the sofa and has a mini-spaz every so often as he drifts off to sleep, his legs sort of twitching a lot. I did it once. Scared the shit out of me.
Heh i have a question. [editline]22nd October 2010[/editline] whenever i post i get no response D:
Also, if i do wild before i go to sleep, will there be more chance of a lucid dream?
Should do, because your mind is kept conscious and aware as it goes into the sleep state. I guess to an extent this means to can be aware of the moment you enter dream-state and understand that you are dreaming.
Means I don't lose out on any sleep to :D
I've had a question that has bothered me for a bit. How do you know that the "subconscious" you summoned really is your subconscious mind and not really just y'know, a dream character that is not really anything but another part of a dream?
You will see it in multiple dreams [editline]22nd October 2010[/editline]
Heh i have a question. If i use WILD, do i have to remember my own dream, or can i remember any story? i haven't been able to recall a dream in forever
didn't get an answer
I've had a question that has bothered me for a bit. How do you know that the "subconscious" you summoned really is your subconscious mind and not really just y'know, a dream character that is not really anything but another part of a dream?
This is what confuses me a little, as I guess it's a sort of paradox. People aren't usually aqquainted with their subs unless they are physically looking for them generally, as far as I can tell (correct me if I'm wrong). So of course, there's the possibility they are created. At the same time, the interactions had with them and what they do are not controlled by you, they are controlled by your dreaming, subconscious mind. You talk to them, your subconscious fashions a reply. So I guess yes, you really are talking to your subconscious, but to an extent, the subconscious' actions are your own design. If that makes any sense at all >.< This is how I understand it in any case, and still believe that subconscious' can interact and guide as they've been documented in this thread.
Yeah, I thought about that, too. What if your subconscious is really self-aware? Kind of a weird question. Anyways, yeah, I'm pretty sure it's happened with some people, but I can't imagine how you would tell the difference.
You know how we only use like 15% of our brain(google for real %), what if the other parts of our brain are being used, just sending signals too weak to be detected. Those other parts could be the subconsious /me waits for the boxes to roll in
this describes my dreams
Also, if i do wild before i go to sleep, will there be more chance of a lucid dream? [editline]22nd October 2010[/editline] whenever i post i get no response D:
I don't quite get your questions. For the quoted question, technically you can remember anything you want. But how would that be different? Do you mean entering a past dream through WILD? If so, I'd just as soon try getting new dreams. Recall is probably what you want to focus on, though, since if you do LD you'll want to remember it. That's my problem lately... As for the WILD thing... again, don't quite get it, but is probably a yes. If the WILD is successful, it definitely helps LD. If not, I don't know of a reason for it to hurt. So go for it Also, if you feel your questions are going unanswered, there is a group questions thread that you can get to through the groups thingy. It gets less traffic to my knowledge, but I'm not about to question the wisdom of Those Guys. Just try it and see what happens, maybe?
I've had a question that has bothered me for a bit. How do you know that the "subconscious" you summoned really is your subconscious mind and not really just y'know, a dream character that is not really anything but another part of a dream?
Well... it's hard to explain. In a way, your sub will let you know somehow. You may not know how, though. It's just sort of a feeling... maybe the ability of people to recognize themselves. Tough question. I had a dream where I never even saw the guy, but I knew he was my sub. Well, maybe I did see him and I forgot, but anyways it can be weird.
You know how we only use like 15% of our brain(google for real %), what if the other parts of our brain are being used, just sending signals too weak to be detected. Those other parts could be the subconsious /me waits for the boxes to roll in
Well, the thing is that I'm pretty sure the statistic originally meant that at any given time, said percent of the brain was showing neural activity. The problem with the 'implication' is that if ALL neurons were firing, you'd pass out and/or die, and most neurons are so specialized that they don't fire except in rare circumstances (I.E. facial recognition of King Gustav III?). As any computer engineer will tell you, having all logic gates open is just as pointless as having them all closed. The whole point of computation is having certain ones off and others on, then switching them as necessary. Tl;dr: 15%? Not if you're on crack

Another question... When you become lucid does the dream become any clearer? Because even if I remember a dream with lots of detail, it is usually very foggy when I wake up in the morning. When I become lucid will this disappear, at least a little bit? It would be nice to remember a lucid dream as more than just a foggy experience.
Few things. I remember my dreams in third person. I can remember things that I don't remember. As in it's like the theater mode in halo. I can barley remember what my sub says. It's like she/he is mute. But I can ask questions in dreams. And know I get answers telepethy in my dream. O_o
Where's the bad spelling rating when you need it? Anyways The RILD thread Simply so we all can read lucid dreams without working for it.
I had a dream the other night in which I was running from zombies. I was destroying them completely, with no sense of fear or anything. Then the government declared zombie killing illegal, so I was on the run from the National Guard. I was bunkered down in a farmhouse talking to the people who lived there about what I had done. They seemed to agree with me that the zombie killings had been necessary to my survival. Then, a Pavelow landed in the field outside and a bunch of bikini models piled out of it. At this point, the zombies came back. I did a reality check, and suddenly I was on a beach and everything was happy. There was also an Argonian girl there. Anyone's guess, my mind is.
Alright Im gonna go to sleep now, im going to try FILD tonight.
