So last night I did the sunglasses method and it worked! It was pretty awesome
But that's all I remember. Cue emo-face
So yeah
common problem :v:
shit dream recall results in not remembering awesome dreams (and lucids), start keeping a dream journal and always try to remember your dreams right after waking up, I mean RIGHT after waking up before you even start to move out of your bed.
I finally had a lucid dream today! I kinda did a background check; I looked outside a window twice and the background changed drastically so I was like, damn, I'm dreaming. Glancing at a clock didn't work, but after what felt like 10 minutes in dream the clock moved 7 hours, so I guess that works too.
My question is, how can you tell if you're having a "false" lucid dream? As in you are dreaming about having a lucid dream, but you aren't actually lucid?
Also, I tried to call out my sub and he took the form of this friend of mine, but all he did was play on a DS and ignore me :/ Maybe I'm addicted to games?

Yeah, I know, and I did that, but I still couldn't remember anything. In fact, it's been 4 hours, and I only just remembered the sunglasses part. I came here, read some comments, and got a deja vu moment. I was like, 'Wait, I remember doing that. Omg', and so I put that post. Weird stuff.
Repost for new page, mainly interested in the paralysis bit.
I'm totally responding! Omg!
Yeah, except I dunno what to say, so
So let me get this straight.
An anti-sub is basically all your negativity turned into a person to make you trust your subconscious, and because your sub creates it, it essentially, a part of your sub.
What if I created an anti-sub, to make my sub trust me?
Um, first off, bad idea. Second off, no. I mean, I get where you're coming from, but it's definitely not as simple as that. I mean, I sort of envision it as more of a ying-yang thing going on, where an overly positive and helpful sub gives birth to a more negative and disruptive anti-sub. I mean, it makes sense that to get white out of grey, you separate out the black, right?
Well, maybe not, but that's as descriptive as I think I'll be able to get without going off on a tangent. Which I already have. Well crap.
Can't seem to get FILD, any tips?
Nope.
Well gee, aren't I helpful today... :p
What is an ideomotor response?
Ideo=Idea, motor=movement, so an ideomotor response is responding to an idea with movement, or the thought moves it. Basically, if you try to keep still and think about making small movements, you do it. The application of this being that you can physically see your response (or your sub's response) to ideas or questions. If you have a pendulum, just associate "Yes" with forward and back swinging, or "No" with side-to-side swinging, then try asking stuff and see what you come up with. Just make sure to occasionally check that Yes is still Yes and No is still No. Muscle memory can be kinda finicky.
I havn't been able to become lucid since my girl stabbed me in the back..
Whats going on there?
Well I know if that happened to me, it would be because I don't want to get myself in a dream scenario where I might think about that. Things can get ugly fast. You'll probably be fine once you stop thinking about it as much.
Of course, this is all speculation, since I haven't ever been in that situation.
I NEED TO STOP HAVING GODDAMN SEXUAL DREAMS WITH VERY SPECIFIC FEMALE FRIENDS. IT MAKES SOCIALIZING WITH THEM AWKWARd.
Well I don't deny it'd be awkward, but there's probably a reason you're having these dreams. Likely a very obvious reason.
If you get lucid, you might be able to ask why they're trying to smex you.
Again, never been in that situation (thankfully), so I really have no idea whether what I'm saying would help or not. I figure I might as well say what I think, and let others decide whether to listen.

Lol, dunno about the games, but as for false lucid dreams... well, I dunno. That definitely gets weird, but I guess most of the time it shouldn't matter. Lucidity is more of a spectrum anyways.
God, I am such an armchair psychologist. I really need to cut back on all the question-answering if I'm going to get my readings done. 500 pages.... what a sack of crap
So, if my brother has his laptop on, and the lights on, trying to talk to me constantly as I try to fall asleep, is WILD completely out of the question? I can't seem to get into SP with all the ruckus of his vidya gaem.

I guess so, because to get into WILD you obviously need to be in a relaxed state and still eventually need to sleep, and unless you're used to sleeping in those conditions, you're going to be easily disturbed. This doesn't mean it's impossible. Invest in some foam ear-plugs and sleep facing the wall/under the duvet/cover your face to block out any light/movement from your brother, that might help a lot.
noise (especialy voices) only helps me stay aware during WILD.
also, I used ideomotor response again; it turns out I DO have an anti-sub, and K (who is probably more powerful) is hiding him from me.
meh, cool whatever.

Yes, I'm trying to not think about that reason.
Being an armchair psychologist gets fun eventually.

Would someone be kind enough to tell me what an ideomotor response is?
Would someone be kind enough to tell me what an ideomotor response is?
Oh, I wrote an answer for this. Sorry, I guess I really needed a tl;dr
EDIT: DERP, it was last page. My post is 3rd from the bottom, and your question was also 3rd, if I'm not mistaken
EDIT UPON EDIT: You know what? When it's so easy to do quotes, there's no reason for me to point you to my other posts. I'll just put it here:
No offense, but why don't you stop being a fucking prick and answer the question if you know it?
I don't know the answer. If I did I'd tell him. What constitutes me as a "fucking prick"? You can find the answer in 5 seconds on Google. If I wanted to be a dick I'd do this:
http://www.google.com/search?btnG=1&pws=0&q=ideomotor+response
I can understand questions like "how do I summon my sub" or "what should I ask my sub" or "why do I go blind in a lucid dream?" because you can't find those on Google almost at all, but come on.
Okay, my next goal is simple. To have a lightsaber battle with darth vader. I'll try to get lucid tonight. Now off to sleep.
If you strike me down, I shall become even more powerful than before.
Hopefully going to have a successful FILD tonight. I'm really set on getting a Lucid through FILD.
Orkel: If I get an LD tonight, I'm stealing your idea :v:
Okay, my next goal is simple. To have a lightsaber battle with darth vader. I'll try to get lucid tonight. Now off to sleep.
Well that's ironic... the night before last I fought Darth Maul. Or at least my sub of indiscernible form, who had a double-bladed lightsaber. I went as Qui-Gon Jinn.
Then again, I went in planning to lose.
What car would this happen to be?
cuz your sounding more and more awesome every time you post.
Btw I have an uncle in central CA. Grover Beach. He says its pretty sweet.
[editline]22nd October 2010[/editline]
not to brag or anything, but im currently restoring a 72 chevy 3/4 ton pickup.
thing's a muscle truck.
400 big block ooohhhhh
Its a 1995 Mustang GT 5.0L HO. Not too bad, but Im slowly building it up to stock. (The guy who had it before me treated it like a tank. So it was in terrible shape.) And yes, you are bragging with that truck. In Dec im getting me an old bronco and transforming it into a tank. Things going to be bullet resistant and everything.
Nice. When you do, Upload pics.
hhmmmm... I havent had a car dream in a while...
*yawn* 7am. time for me to sleep... damn long day.
Nice. When you do, Upload pics.
hhmmmm... I havent had a car dream in a while...
Of the truck? Yeah im going to do a large 30inx30in concept drawing of it. Ill show you when its done. Going to be excessive but I plan on taking the truck to the middle east or to egypt. Depends.
I hate that as well.
I just got a fever and I don't think I've ever had a fever dream.
What's it like?
Depends. I get psychedelic ones. Picture Alice in Wonderland played backwards through a tie-dye filter.
Saw an awesome dream. It was semi-lucid. I was invisible, and could go around without anyone spotting me. I was at an underground research lab because of it, but escaped by climbing up a ladder. Then I could go anywhere I wanted. So what did I do first as an invisible man? Go to the pool ofcourse and mess around in the womans changing room. It was hilarious, the way they got startled when I touched them. And a bit hot too. I could say it was a sex dream without the sex.
HHmmmm.....
It seems every night I use FILD and fail, I get a terrible sleep. Tried in the morning and missing alarms and such and such.
This part on my dream is confusing me. I walked to a room with the door open, the light was on, I turned the light switch off and the light went off.
Shouldn't light stay on?
Had another lucid dream. Talked to my sub for the first time.
Apparently my sub is Morgan Freeman.

One thing I really held onto about the dream that's not slipping away like the rest is, something my sub said to me. "You try really hard to be good you do, and every time you do you drift off to being bad" Then straight after that he laughed a bit and he start reading off every bad deed I did of a list.
Longest LD I ever had.
^thats awesome.
Im beginning to think my anti-sub isnt so much evil, as just lazy, grouchy, and slightly diabolic.
I think the three of us should get together in a dream and grab a few beers sometime.
snippity snip
got a weird response right there.
awesumsause :3

It varies. It depends on how much attention is focussed on it. If you truly expect it to work, your mind will probably compensate. Other people have previously said that on becoming lucid, they've done reality checks that didn't work (e.g. they couldn't breath through a plugged nose, hands looked okay), so I'm guessing it's pretty much like that. Same with people's reactions to mirrors in dreams. I don't see scary things in mirrors, I just either see nothing or a skewed version of myself, or someone else completely.
What really confuses me is I don't really remember HAVING an anti-sub. I know I should have and I possibly did, but I don't remember it.

Not always. It depends on the situation sometimes, it has to do with line of sight. Could you physically see the lightbulb?
Other people have previously said that on becoming lucid, they've done reality checks that didn't work (e.g. they couldn't breath through a plugged nose, hands looked okay), so I'm guessing it's pretty much like that.
I had that problem at my early stages of practise. It's easy to fix by such a generic thing as understanding the dream doesn't follow the laws of physics. Once you really realize that anything is possible in a dream, RCs will work and you will be able to do impossible shit. It sounds easy but when the lucid feels so realistic, it's hard to fully grasp the fact that you can do impossible stuff.
Shortened: Fully understand that anything is possible in a dream and you'll be able to do them. Even the slightest hint of doubt, "can I really do this?" will cause whatever you are doing to fail, for example flying. You think, "what about gravity?" and suddenly you fall to the ground. You think, "my nose is plugged by my hand, can I really breathe?" and your reality check will certainly fail. So when in a lucid, throw all laws of physics and whatever to hell (maybe even literally, it's a lucid afterall) or you won't be able to do stuff.
enough rambling for today
edit: rofl, shortened ended up longer than the "long" version
