If anything reads weird please tell me because I'm compiling all my dreams for a book (NaNoWriMo)
I love when people have unusual dreams, it's fun for me. This one is...uh. Interesting. I'm betting about 90% of it doesn't have much meaning, everything up to the TV is you being in faux-lucidity. You thought you were lucid, decided to do something adventurous without solidifying the lucidity, and ended up being shut out of control by your own brain. The TV's interesting, though...I doubt it was something as advanced as AJ (if you don't know what I'm talking about...nevermind). Quite honestly, it's likely that that TV was your sub's invention. Based on what it said and the answer you knew you had to give, I'm betting your sub's telling you to not be so damn pushy. (S)He'll show up when (s)he wants, and you can't force it, which is what you were trying to do. I'd be able to give a better answer if I knew why you wanted to talk to your sub, but I'm betting either A: You had no real reason, you just wanted to chat, or B: you had a question it wasn't ready for you to answer.
Sub is short for subconscious.
Alright, and how are people finding them? While lucid dreaming I presume.
I keep having dreams about girls I've liked, or still do like. This is pissing me off because I don't want to remember them. What does 'sub' mean? I've seen it being talked about in this thread. And how does one find the 'sub'?
can't help that, bro. your brain will focus on whatever it wants, you can't make it NOT. "Sub" is short for your subconscious, or rather, a specific manifestation of your subconscious. It's a complicated idea, and I suggest you read the OP because it'll answer your question better than I will, and I'm lazy.
some times i have those relly short dreams or visions or what ever you wana call them. like when you start to get really tired and your eyes start to droop, and dream/vision for 0.5 sec. and you jump. fucking hate that
Alright, and how are people finding them? While lucid dreaming I presume.
If you're thinking that you can somehow access or tweak your subconsciousness, you can't. The most that might happen is a good placebo from your attempts in telling it focus into something else, but most likely it won't help, because of what Zinayzen said. Besides you most likely have some strong emotions towards the girls so it's natural for you to dream about them even if you'd think that you've gotten over them (which sounds like you haven't). It's called sub-consciousness for a reason, after all.
some times i have those relly short dreams or visions or what ever you wana call them. like when you start to get really tired and your eyes start to droop, and dream/vision for 0.5 sec. and you jump. fucking hate that
I always trip down stairs or see the headlights of a truck :<

Just as it was about to hit me in the face, I jumped awake.
Funny, I just play around with my half dreams. I can force myself into where I want to be if I'm tired enough.

I don't know how you analyze but you're a wizard. Thanks, and yeah I've read Jake's "campaign". Honestly what I had in mind to ask I don't know how to phrase. I just want to understand my unconscious thoughts, which I feel are rather extreme compared to what I consciously do. For example the feelings of "fight or flight" when I'm in a simple argument or talk, or the feeling that I should take a huge risk while driving. Not that I would ever act on any of those emotions, but mainly want to know why any emotion becomes extreme as if I were a child that can't control myself. Haven't always been like that either. Automerge why did you leave me? :(

My brain's just wired to think in metaphors and constant seeks ways to fulfill them, which is why I'm now a psychology major. Well there's your problem. Asking your inner workings how your inner workings work won't get you very far. It's subconscious for a reason, it works on a level deeper than yours and so it's pretty impossible to actually understand it and figure it out. In those two examples you gave, though, I can explain. Fight or flight/taking risks means you might be dissatisfied with your life right now and you want to spice it up, or it could mean you're just BORED. I don't know, that's something you need to figure out for yourself. (And it's something you don't need your sub's help with).
Summoning or creating or spawning anything rarely works if you stare at it or wish for it to manifest straight into your hand. Try to think that behind that corner there's a locker with the desired item in it.
I've summoned a person, the keyblade I mentioned and an empty shell (figuratively). It's probably cause I wasn't lucid, knowing how its properly done. Birdman, how do I make deals with my sub, haven't gone lucid for 6 weeks straight.
Not sure if it's been answered, but I was reading another thread about a problem this person has when going to sleep (Don't see why they always make new threads...) And I thought about one I sometimes had, it's like... You're falling, but then you go back up to where you just were... Think of it as lag in a game (Pretty bad description, sorry) where you fall but go back up again, fall, go back up, etc. Sometimes it feels like I'm being lifted out of my body, then going back in. This is of course only while I'm in bed, and it goes away pretty quickly. Sorry again for the terrible description, can anyone explain what it is?
While I wait for someone to answer me in the Elder Scrolls thread, I'll answer questions directed at me. *Ctrl+F zin* [editline]22nd November 2010[/editline] Your girlfriend appears to be your subconscious, which is odd but not unheard of. I personally suggest changing it, but that's a topic for another time. It just means you're not doing reality checks. Once you think you're dreaming but you can't control it, do an RC. Force your brain to put you in the driver's seat. Do some RC's, use the hand staring trick to make everything clearer, then just try to DO stuff. If this is your first LD that you have full control in, you might not be able to control a lot without waking yourself up. If that's the case, I suggest letting the dream flow normally, but test the boundaries. Try to jump really high, or lower the gravity. Keep doing RC's to reinforce how it feels. You can do it, it just takes time.
But how the hell can I do/force an RC and these things if I have no control? That's what I've never understood how people manage to do it.
Funny, I just play around with my half dreams. I can force myself into where I want to be if I'm tired enough.
I call them "dusk dreams" I have them a lot.
Birdman, how do I make deals with my sub, haven't gone lucid for 6 weeks straight.
ummmmm......... uuuuhhhhhh......... I really dont know. Kind of a mix between talking with K in dreams, meditation, and idemotor response. ...speaking of meditation, I havent seen Doc around here in a while.....
But how the hell can I do/force an RC and these things if I have no control? That's what I've never understood how people manage to do it.
Because you have to know you're dreaming first. People make the mistake of thinking people become lucid from RC's, but actually they must be able to recognise the possibility they are dreaming first before they are able to, and so must already have some level of control. I guess all you can really do is perhaps do some intense MILDing and dream visualisation before you sleep to try and kick you into some sort of lucidity.
Im having a LOT of hypnic jerks when im relaxing. weird. Should try to WILD this night. I just keep falling asleep goddamnit. But i think the blackness=pad and scribbling it with a pen is a great way to stay concious. its pretty interesting. [editline]22nd November 2010[/editline]
Like, your vision didn't become blurry, the dream didn't start 'collapsing', you didn't lose control and drift back into a regular dream where you sorta forget you're lucid. It usually happens when you get carried away and don't remember to keep in mind that you actually have to focus a bit at all times in a lucid dream, otherwise it starts collapsing. Easy way to regain stability is to stare at something and think out loud that you're in control of everything etc.
What? thats totally the opposite i had when i was lucid. I suddenly out of nowhere realized im sleeping. I have no goddamn idea why, i just said in my dream "im sleeping" THEN i realized im sleeping. i got excited. No, it didnt go blurry, or start collapsing; It started building. everything turned picture clear in seconds. goddamn it was so cool.
^ :bandwagon: This thread is the biggest group placebo I have ever seen. God I love it.
This thread is the biggest group placebo I have ever seen. God I love it.
I don't know what aspect of the thread are you talking about, but controlling a dream is quite possible. All that sub-consciousness stuff sounds pretty far-out though, IMO. Of course if you've never seen one a lucid dream or don't want to believe any of it, it's quite difficult to prove your otherwise because there's yet no a way to show other people their dreams.
I think he's talking about hypnic jerks, am I correct?

Either you should actually read some of this thread, or you actually deserve this box. This thread is a good placebo; the whole bandwagon thing is an inside joke in this thread. Here, make a box fort. I'm unimpressed by your bemusing inside jokes, but I apologize for not reading further on the thread. It seemed like a tedious thing to read through, as I've had lucid dreams every other week for six-five years or so, can't remember when I started.
Hay guise, I has idea. I make IV drip, and it are supply me with a mix of melatonin and Vitamin B6. Now I can has super dreems??

How long can a person dream in one night?
But how the hell can I do/force an RC and these things if I have no control? That's what I've never understood how people manage to do it.
It's complicated. If you have literally no control and you're moving like a robot but you're fully conscious, just scream I AM IN CONTROL. It probably won't DO anything, but it's likely to actually PUT you in control. Otherwise, practice them in real life. Eventually it'll be second nature and you'll do it in a dream too. My dreams are of kissing my sister, or of wanting to kiss her. I don't feel this way in real life.
How long can a person dream in one night?
Theoretically, the maximum that's ever been reported and widely spread is 100 years, but the guy that did it is one of the leaders of lucidity theory, and besides that, it's a matter of trusting what he says. If it matters, my record's about three months, and I was completely spent the next day. [editline]22nd November 2010[/editline]
My dreams are of kissing my sister, or of wanting to kiss her. I don't feel this way in real life.
Incorrect. [editline]22nd November 2010[/editline] I was thinking about this the other day. I was trying to refine my definition and explanation of your subconscious' role in lucid dreams (and dreams in general), and I realized I was going about it all wrong. The problem is, people (especially here) tend to think of them as separate entities. Your conscious self is you, and your subconscious is some weird ethereal being with all the answers that controls your every movement. In reality, both are you. You can't separate them. Yes, your subconscious operates on a level below conscious thought, but it's just as much YOU as your conscious is. The problem is, it's hard to think of an analogy to describe the relationship because everything I can think of involves making them seem like two separate things. Lucid dreams and interactions with your subconscious is basically the way you let yourself explore your own brain, if that makes sense. I know that when I have dreams when I know time has passed, it's as it it's flown by and I have no full recollection of it. You were aware of every minute of every day? That is amazing...

That is amazing...
Pretty much, yeah. And it IS amazing but at the same time it sucks because you wake up and you feel incredibly confused. You know how in (i'm going to hate myself for this) Inception, when he's talking about how they grew old in a dream and then woke up and everything felt different? It's EXACTLY like that. I'm betting LaBerge influenced that movie.
I'll try FILD again this night, hopefully it'll work. But my joints always don't move smoothly, they're like rusty door hinges at low speeds. My finger joints feel normal in daily use but if I move them really little as per FILD, it feels rough and uncomfortable. So I try to keep them between my legs, and move only the muscle without moving the fingers themselves.
