I had a very odd dream last night. A friend of mine, a clone of him, a pregnant dragon-looking girl, and myself were in a convenience store run by Kim-Jong Il. All he sold was paper towels and cabbages. My friend(s) wandered off, leaving me with the dragon girl. She looked almost like the argonians from Oblivion, but with a few subtle differences, like a head full of spines, clearly human eyes, and bony ridges along her back. I felt a very keen sense of attachment to her, like I needed to protect her with my life or death. A bunch of bikers walked in and ordered cabbage to eat. Kim-Jong Il brought them paper towels instead, but they ate them anyways. So, one of them starts feeling up the dragon girl. I tell her, "Come on, we're leaving." I said her name, but I can't really remember it. It sounded something like 'Skylai,' not a name I've ever heard before. We leave as quickly as we can, but as we get into our vehicle (which looked like it belonged in Bartertown's cavalry), I realize that our other two friends are not with us. As we pull away, they start running after us, but for whatever reason, we leave them behind. Skylai convinces me to go back for them, but instead of our friends, we find an extremely fat lady instead. She roars at us, which was...terrifying, against all odds. Then, I'm sitting at my kitchen table. Then I woke up. My mind really does scare me.
Sorry guys, won't be posting again until Monday, when I move back home. My internet in my room is still broken, so I can't use that, and the computers in the library are pretty ancient and the scroll wheel doesn't work, which pisses me off. On a brighter note, I've finally gotten over my moral complex of hooking up without being in a relationship, and I'm going to a party tomorrow. Giggity. [editline]3rd December 2010[/editline]
Astronaut in a black hole: In his reference frame, he's not accelerating at all. Rather, he sees the black hole — or rather, I guess, he sees the empty spot in space where the black hole would be if he could see it — flying toward him at an ever-increasing rate. As he gets closer to the black hole, the nearest part of the event horizon stays pretty much fixed in space, but the more distant parts appear to "wrap" around him, until he's surrounded by blackness but for a tiny circle of sky directly behind him. The astronaut's fate at this point is not sealed; if it were possible for him to thrust hard enough in the right direction — without the acceleration killing him, obviously — he could escape from the black hole's gravitation. But if he keeps falling, eventually that circle will diminish to a point, then vanish entirely, and the astronaut, his clock and his glass spaceship will — for all intents and purposes — cease to exist. Or rather, from his point of view the rest of the universe will cease to exist. All directions that one might think would point "outward," away from the black hole, actually point into the astronaut's past. He can no more hope to reach flat space and safety again than he could hope to travel back in time. Sooner or later — hint: it's sooner — the astronaut will reach a region of spacetime that's so drastically curved it can no longer be mistaken for flat on the scale of his spaceship. The difference in curvature between where his feet are and where his head is will become noticeable, you might say. At that point, the chemical bonds holding his body together will be overcome, and his life will end. His component particles will continue falling into the black hole, but their space velocity will paradoxically tend toward zero, due to the hellish curvature of space inside the event horizon. Eventually they will reach the singularity, and all motion will cease, because at that point in spacetime, there is literally nowhere to go. All directions — up, down, left, right, whatever — have ceased to exist, and the only "direction" that still has any meaning is the one that points toward the future. All the space components of coordinate four-velocity become zero, and the particles — whatever form they might exist in now; our science is utterly unable to tell us — rocket into the future at the speed of light.
fuck i'll never have space dreams again now
So I've had like... 12, maybe 13 lucids after reading this thread for the first time  now that I've gotten the hang of it, I have a quick question. Can you talk to your sub if you're not asleep? Is there any way?
...well. That's a very, VERY complicated question. Short answer is yes, because I do it regularly. But it's effing hard. An easier solution than what I had to do is just to start listening to your gut feelings. Usually that's your subconscious.
So I've had like... 12, maybe 13 lucids after reading this thread for the first time  now that I've gotten the hang of it, I have a quick question. Can you talk to your sub if you're not asleep? Is there any way?
Well as much I dread disagreeing with Zin, I'm gonna say yes so long as you keep your expectations relatively low at the start. Try looking up 'ideomotor response', and you should get something saying that you can key movements to certain responses from your subconscious. If you ask a question, you can get a response, basically; it works on the same principle as Ouija boards, in that you get a relevant answer because you subconsciously tend towards whatever most makes sense. You don't need a Ouija board, though, pendulums work pretty well. Just imagine it spinning a certain direction, and it will. Make one direction Yes and the other No, do some test questions to solidify the idea, then ask stuff. This is definitely one way of going about it, but the whole Yes/No question can get tedious. However, something's better than nothing, and, at least in my experience, it's pretty easy. Of course, everyone's different, so you may have a different experience with it, but that's fine. Just keep in mind that there are questions your sub doesn't want to answer, so you aren't necessarily guaranteed a response. In those cases, just ask if that's the problem. The cool thing is, when I do this nowadays, I think more than just Yes and No; I think things like 'Yeah, seems like the sort of things he would do', or 'No, that wouldn't work unless you could time-travel. Which you can't.' You see, ideomotor responses can open up new doors as far as communicating with subs, so even if it's not as awesome as you thought, stick with it and things should get easier. And btw Zin, if you disagree with any of this, then let me know. I don't want a mysterious nighttime hit-squad crippling me for life or anything.
Well thanks for the responses. I probably won't try it for a while, me and my subconscious still aren't that... "close" inside my lucids yet. He's very evasive...

He's very evasive...
I know what you mean... my sub isn't very fond of actually showing up. Figures it's better to communicate through the dream itself, which is okay, but not really that awesome. So I had a really long dream last night, but it was a normal one... well, relatively. It had a lot of my cousin, which makes me think I'm really worried about him considering his school troubles. By which I mean his setting fire to it. Anyways, I'm just thinking that the problem I had with the 5-hour cycle is that that's too long, so I'm going to try WBTB after 4 hours instead. That way, maybe I'll actually wake up in REM sleep. Then maybe I can WILD successfully for once... then get better at it until I can do it straight from bed, then ??? then PROFIT!!!

Is there ever a thing were you are "too" relaxed iv seen some crazy shit in some of my dreams and in the dream iv just thought it happens every day so i havnt really took much notace to it, not that i can anyway :saddowns:
Damn you make text hard to read. [editline]3rd December 2010[/editline] read it 3 times now, still dont understand.
Thanks to school, I haven't been remembering many of my dreams. I had a slew of good dreams last night (2-3 that I could remember, but only snippits of 1 now). The only part I remember is a "real-life" GTA. I was driving around, blowing shit up, and I went to some party with this girl (I know her in real life), and I remember having a goal to get her somewhere far away in the car, but I don't remember where. NEED. WINTER. BREAK!! I BETTER START REMEMBERING MY DREAMS AND RECORDING THEM AGAIN! I haven't had a lucid in a while, either.
Whee, party time. Also, Fable 3. Shorter than I would have hoped.
I just finished watching Paprika so my interest in dreaming has spiked again. I was wondering if it was possible or if you guys regularly use transitions like jumping into a picture and then through another one to either cover distances or go to someplace entirely different.

Paprika is Inception on extreme hallucinogens, which is the formula for awesome. Anyways, gotta say I don't. Then again, others might. Technically anything's possible, but likely?... Impossible for me to know.
Hey guys, I was just thinking, is it possible to shrink by noclipping? I wanna make sure I can get to the size of my tiny chaos men in a lucid dream.
I have had ALOT of dreams in which I am trying to run, but I am very sleepy and slo-mo. Or, I try to turn lights on, and the lights dont go on, or they are dim. Then I freak out and wake up
I was wondering if it was possible or if you guys regularly use transitions like jumping into a picture and then through another one to either cover distances or go to someplace entirely different.
omg Blue's Clues is actually a dream

Quite frankly it's one of the better ways to do it. I have a dream tower with nothing but pictures everywhere. It's hard to do, because you have to remember the places they go as well as what those places look like, but it's possible. (One thing I've never been able to do, however, is make the pictures move. If it's an ocean, I see a still, not the ocean crests moving. Gotta fix that.)
Hmm, why is the thread as dead as it is? Normally there's more activity than this. Anyways, tried WILD last night. No dice. I did eventually get into an LD after being quite annoyingly woken up 2 or 3 times (I ignored her and went back to sleep each time). It was very unstable, but I ended up finding someone when asking for my subconscious, so I asked what it wanted to tell me, and it told me. Turns out it wasn't my sub, though. Derp. Might try the Paprika trick if I get lucid, and I've been hoping to dream about being on the computer in the hopes that something might go wrong and I would become lucid. I mean, for all the time I spend on the computer, I don't think I've dreamt about it once. X-box, yes, but not computers. Besides, games are easy to imagine, but operating systems are not. After all, I've had plenty of times IRL where I was like "WHAT THE HELL WINDOWS WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE FUNCTIONAL AND HERE YOU ARE DISABLING MY VIDEO DRIVERS"
This thread is dead because of the following reasons, which might not be true:- -People are trying to avoid bandwagon -People are sleeping -People are away -No one thinks the subconscience is a magical fairy anymore, and are trying to regain sanity. Also, what's the Paprika trick? I've heard of Paprika but I haven't seen it. As for me, it's the holidays now and and I'm not sleeping as much, and I am away.
Tried WILD last night, i can't remember the alarm going off nor can i remember turning it off :frown:
Hmm, why is the thread as dead as it is? Normally there's more activity than this.
I quit bumping it for no reason.
I'm so excited  I had two lucids in one night, and they weren't even induced! I just realized how odd my dreams were and did reality checks. I also met my sub! I'm not sure why but he's this medieval badass version of Shaun White... by badass medieval I mean he can use magic and fly and junk. VERY productive night.
People need to read the definition of lucid dreaming again.
People need to read the definition of lucid dreaming again.
Zin better make the OP fast.
5000 is the post limit right?
I remember having one lucid dream, once. It ended really quick though.
OMG I RMEMBURD DEaRM!!!1 LUCID!!! Right. My definition of a TRUE lucid dreaming is when you induce it through either fild or wild when you have complete awareness.
what?
I once had a wet dream
